Trnzaddict Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 First off; thanks again for sharing such an original improvement on the Hyperspin experience.I read both the readme's but maybe I missed something or I didn't understand all of it. I also haven't gotten HyperSpeech to work on the Main Menu yet. Everything else works except the main menu. I put the handle.exe in both the Hyperspeech folder and in Hyperspin's root directory with no effect. I enabled the intro movie also. Now this might reveal the entirety of my ignorance but what is the function of the history.dat file and why is it only in the MAME? I just copied the hiscore.dat, renamed it and deleted all the text. I guess the real reason I'm asking is that I don't know what else to do with it. Thanks again! Hyperion, just for giggles change your drive letter to F, assuming your HS folder is in the root. I was having the same exact problem. Then I tried Hyperspeech on my cab and my drive letter is F on my cab and then it was finally speaking system names and BIOS. I am......Machine
BoOgieman Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 First off; thanks again for sharing such an original improvement on the Hyperspin experience. Hey you´re welcome mate! I read both the readme's but maybe I missed something or I didn't understand all of it. I also haven't gotten HyperSpeech to work on the Main Menu yet. Everything else works except the main menu. I put the handle.exe in both the Hyperspeech folder and in Hyperspin's root directory with no effect. I enabled the intro movie also. Let me check this with you: - did you grab the most recent version from the ftp? - do you have video´s enabled in you main system wheel? - do you use the HyperSpin default paths? HyperSpeech determines the selected system in HyperSpin by it´s running flv video which MUST have the partial path "\Media\Main Menu\Video". In other words, make sure your main menu video´s are in "HyperSpin\Media\Main Menu". Now this might reveal the entirety of my ignorance but what is the function of the history.dat file and why is it only in the MAME? I just copied the hiscore.dat, renamed it and deleted all the text. I guess the real reason I'm asking is that I don't know what else to do with it. Thanks again! Hehehe... had to laugh when reading that... The MAME history.dat is read for the MAME game biographs. You can enable the automamebio and/or define a dedicated key for it in HyperSpeech. It is capable of speaking out some interesting (or not) info about the selected MAME game. You can download the latest version from here: http://www.arcade-history.com/index.php?page=download. HyperSpeech - Text-To-Speech Voice Addon for HyperSpin

BoOgieman Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 Answers:- Yes, version 0.4 - Yes videos are enabled... well I can see them in HS anyway. - The only way my file structure deviates from the default is that I keep my roms folder in the Hyperspin root directory instead of a sub folder in the emulator folder. My media file structure is c:\Hyperspin\Media\Main Menu\Video\MAME.flv I downloaded the latest history.dat but it hasn't had any effect ie no MAME game bio's. Thanks Ok, if HyperSpeech is able to speak your MAME games, you can press the MAMEBio key (default F3) than HyperSpeech will look up the bio information for that specific game in the history.dat file. Assuming that you have placed the history.dat in your C:\Hyperspin\Emulators\MAME folder (or something equivalent) and that you´ve changed the path for this in the HyperSpeech.ini file this should work. If the MAME game is not spoken then HyperSpeech probably cannot load the MAME.xml database for some reason and the MAMEBio will also fail. One reason that the main menu speech doesn´t work might be that your setup is not fast enough to do the parsing of the system video´s. HyperSpeech by default, dumps and reads a temp file every 500ms (only while in the main menu wheel) If your system (especially your harddisk) is not fast enough to complete these actions in a timely fashion, HyperSpeech will not determine the running system flv and speech will fail. This mechanism differs from the game speech as the game descriptions are read from the database xml directly. You could try to increase the parse interval in the HyperSpeech.ini to 1 second or more, so that HyperSpeech will do the parsing less often en give the system more time to complete this action. Also what you could do for a test, is to start HyperSpeech.exe manually before you start HyperSpin and see what that does also... HyperSpeech - Text-To-Speech Voice Addon for HyperSpin

Would be very nice to hear "Attack From Mars" and "Demolition Man" when choosing one of the pinball machines. I've already installed all the TTS software and copied the necessary data (HyperSpeech, handle etc) to the HyperPin directory. Changed all the "Welcome to HyperSpin" to "Welcome to HyperPin" sentences. But of course it's still looking in the wrong directory...it's searching for C:\HyperPin\HyperSpeech\..\Databases\Main Menu\Main Menu.xml. With what program can you open/modify the HyperSpeech.exe and change the paths ? Can/will you help me (us) out ? It doesn't have to say the system names, only the pinball machine names. Ok, that's settled then... Now I need to know which version of HyperSpeech and HyperSpin you're using and whether you use flv's or mp4 for the (System) video's. HyperSpeech checks HyperSpin's file handles to determine which system video is playing. Hyperspeech 0.6 checks for flv video's and matches Hyperspin 1.2 and earlier HyperSpeech 0.7 uses mp4 to match HyperSpin 1.3x HyperSpeech - Text-To-Speech Voice Addon for HyperSpin

First of all you need to run de handle.exe once, to accept the license agreement. I allways forget about this... So, start Hyperspin and leave it running in the main wheel, while playing a system theme video. Now, start a command box. Go changedir to the HyperSpeech directory and type: handle -p Hyperspin.exe (accept the license agreement) This will give you output like this: C:\Users\Boogieman>handle -p hyperspin.exe Handle v3.46 Copyright (C) 1997-2011 Mark Russinovich Sysinternals - www.sysinternals.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ HYPERSPIN.EXE pid: 7176 Boogieman_W7\Boogieman 10: File (RW-) C:\Windows 54: File (R--) F:\Hyperspin\HyperSpin.exe 6C: File (R--) F:\Hyperspin\HyperSpin.exe 70: File (R--) F:\Hyperspin\HyperSpin.exe 74: File (RWD) F:\Hyperspin 98: File (R-D) C:\Windows\SysWOW64\nl-NL\KernelBase.dll.mui FC: Section \Sessions\1\BaseNamedObjects\1TIPSharedMemory 148: Section \Sessions\1\BaseNamedObjects\windows_shell_global_counters 160: Section \BaseNamedObjects\__ComCatalogCache__ 168: Section \BaseNamedObjects\__ComCatalogCache__ 174: File (RW-) C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.7601.17514_none_41e6975e2bd6f2b2 1C8: File (R-D) C:\Windows\Fonts\StaticCache.dat 2B4: File (RW-) C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.7601.17514_none_41e6975e2bd6f2b2 2D8: File (R-D) C:\Windows\SysWOW64\stdole2.tlb 35C: Section \Sessions\1\BaseNamedObjects\1TIPSharedMemory 394: Section \Sessions\1\BaseNamedObjects\UrlZonesSM_Boogieman 3B0: Section \BaseNamedObjects\mmGlobalPnpInfo 4E8: Section \Sessions\1\BaseNamedObjects\C:_Users_Boogieman_AppData_Local_Microsoft_Windows_Temporary Internet Files_Content.IE5_index.dat_2457600 4F8: File (RW-) C:\Users\Boogieman\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\index.dat 4FC: File (RW-) C:\Users\Boogieman\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\index.dat 504: Section \Sessions\1\BaseNamedObjects\C:_Users_Boogieman_AppData_Roaming_Microsoft_Windows_Cookies_index.dat_65536 50C: File (RW-) C:\Users\Boogieman\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\History\History.IE5\index.dat 510: Section \Sessions\1\BaseNamedObjects\C:_Users_Boogieman_AppData_Local_Microsoft_Windows_History_History.IE5_index.dat_425984 5C0: Section \Sessions\1\BaseNamedObjects\DirectInput.{5944E681-C92E-11CF-BFC7-444553540000} 126C: File (R--) F:\Hyperspin\Media\Main Menu\Video\Future Pinball.flv I just used this to check why my Future Pinball system was not being spoken, now you see that I still have the flv system video instead of the mp4. The only difference I see between your and my handle.exe is the version (3.46 and 3.5) So to be clear....my HyperSpeech (ok your HyperSpeech) is introducing itself, say some lines between systems, say switching to Super Nintendo or switching to Sega Genesis, in that system it does say the rom names, also saying starting a rom name and when finishing a game. Even saying Return to main wheel. In MAME it speaks the Game Bios when pressing F3. The only thing what is not working is that it doesn't say the system names in the main menu and if you wait the system bio. You don't have to press a key when you want to hear a system bio, do you ? And did you see my other request ? About HyperPin ? Is it possible to modify the .exe or isn't it that simple to change some paths to enable HyperSpeech in HyperPin ? Ok thanks already! BoOgieman Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 Guys, There's a new version (0.8) on the FTP, which I would highly recommend you to upgrade to. I got rid of writing the handle.exe output to a temporary file. This will relieve the strain on SSD's as there is no more continues writing going on while in the Main Wheel. I believe that this will be far more stable and faster than the writing to and reading from disk and it will probably fix the issues with no system names being spoken where other spoken stuff works. Also I've notice that some intro videos are not available yet in mp4, so I'm now scanning the intro video's with any extension. This way you can mix the mp4's and flv's inyour setup. When there's no proper intro video for the selected system on your setup, HyperSpeech will mention that when the system has a proper theme though... Please report any issues to me if you have them or if you have good ideas (that are not too hard) to implement. What I also would like is to append the HyperSpeech.dat with missing stuff, but I need your help with this. Let's think about how we could best maintain a good dat file for use with the systems and titles we have. So what's on the To-Do list? -Marque Magician Support Some people seem to want my source code so they can trigger Marquee Magician and display the system name and stuff while being in the main wheel. I'm thinking of creating support for Marquee Magician so that output will be parsed to it. This should not be very complicated to incorporate... - Support for second TTS voice for speaking bio's in non Enlish language I've spoken another of our Brazillian friends here, who would love to have an option for a second TTS that is able to speak bio's like in Portuguese, so he could make instructions or stuff like that which his friends and family would better understand. - HyperSpeech for Hyperpin Also if I'm thinking of making a version of HyperSpeech for Hyperpin in the future, we'll see what happens... sparkywallnut Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I'd love to try this program it sounds awesome "no pun intended". From what I understand though, it doesn't work with XP because I need to have a SAPI 5.3 TTS engine installed on my system. Is that correct? Do I have to upgrade to windows 7 or 8? If so, then that sucks! Because I really love how smooth everything is running on XP. I do have a version of HS running on another setup using windows 7 but it seems to run a little weird. Oh well, awesome program though. Oh, one more thing, are you able to change Microsoft Sam's voice within LEDBlinky? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
BoOgieman Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 Hey Sparky, I did a little research and it might work on SAPI 5.1 that Windows XP has. If you would like to volunteer to test it, we could t give it a spin. You will need an external clipboard parser tool (cb.exe) with HyperSpeech in order to make it work, I can update the software so it uses this for XP users. At the moment I am also debugging part of the code because some people have problems hearing the system names and bio's. I really need to get this sorted out... If you're interested let me know and I can make an XP test build. Cheers, Boogieman HyperSpeech - Text-To-Speech Voice Addon for HyperSpin
