+1, thanks a lot Styphelus i need some 16:9 themes for my htpc!

I'm continuing with mine at 16:9 for my own use. I can keep updating my folders if that helps you and if Gibbawho is ok with me doing that.

Due to the fact that the HS setup I am working on atm would mainly be used on a TV in the living room/portable to other machinery quickly, I would love to see you continue the work on the 16:9 themes. What you have done so far looks marvellous and I'm already using a lot of your themes already, albeit the 4:3 ones from before christmas.

But I am also working on a more stationary solution on the side, which makes me happy to see that gibbawho also wants to continue his work on his animated 4:3 themes as well.

Now it all comes down to whether gib allows you to continue your fine work. The themes look already pretty sweet on 44 inches. ;)

Hi Gibbawho, this my proposition for an alternative cover for Sega saturn (Just have change the background with your & change the title) and my supergrafx theme base on your work. But they really need your talent for animated background.

Thanks for your work, it's really amazing!

Alright. I've got a new one for you guys. Jaguar is uploaded. Felt like jumping on that one for the challenge. The background has a 3d scrolling effect and I wanted to jump in and figure out how to do it. Came out pretty good imo.

Anyone can do anything they want with any of these. You have my official permission.

I like what you did with saturn. Fits the original box's look. i'd make a few minor technical changes... placing, sizing etc. If you want pointers I'll give'm but I don't presume. I don't know supergrafx enough to give much of an opinion on that one.

If you or anyone else wants tips on making animated backgrounds or transition videos I can start a thread about that. Its a subject that probably deserves its own thread. It looks like you're using one of the Atari backgrounds in that Saturn Alt. anyway, though. I'll have an animated form of that background soon enough and you are free to use that.

I plan to keep my core release exclusively my work but I absolutely encourage everyone to use anything in these to make alternates or add-ons or whatever. That's why we're all here, after all. Once I've made it through my core themes I may even go through extras the community comes up with and include them. Not sure. We'll see what time allows. And, ofcourse all these non animated and widescreen versions that've been made will be included.

I just wanted to say one more time. No one needs permission. You can take, edit, whatever. No credit is needed. The thought of permission for this type of work feels silly to me when its essentially all copyrighted material I'm making these with.

Awesomesauce! And very nice work on the stuff already done. I will hopefully have some time later in the afternoon to test out your jag-theme with the aforementioned side scrolling effect.

Thanks Gibbawho, i'm agree with you. This Saturn theme looks like more original cover, So i wait your animated Atari and turbografx Background for release them on my FTP folder for interessed peoples. I'll make the same thing with PC-engine main & default themes. I'm so happy to see you again. Incredible works buddy! Great Jaguar release.

IMPORTANT UPTDATE - NES and Sega Genesis uploaded in final, release ready form. Enjoy.

Those who've grabbed previous versions will want to replace them with these.

I've also changed the folder structure in my FTP folder for this project. I've dumped everything that used to be in the folder into a "Working" subfolder. I've added a folder called "Release Ready".

In it you will find the final release ready forms of my 4x3 animated themes plus all source PSD's and Flash files involved with the theme.

As I add to Release Ready, I will delete duplicate psd's and theme zips in the Working folder.

A few more to come tomorrow.

So you're reworking all of your work in terms of adding animation and then rerelease it in the new folder? That's great news. And kudos.

This and Styphelus still working at 16:9 versions will be powerful on CRT and TV

Well, for the most part its just going through and making sure load timing is consistent.

In NES's case it was a bit more. I redid the background animation in a more efficient manor and made the logo vector in addition to timing tweaks.

Awesome work on these. Going to hate leaving behind fancy nlash widescreen themes but he stopped making them with too many systems unfinished, and his video borders are way too time consuming to make from scratch. Plus matching system themes too.

Below are a couple vid borders I made to match his style, took hours in Photoshop. You guys are lucky you don't need to do these lol. So thanks a bunch for doing this huge theme set, I like consistency.

Cool! Thanks Gibbawho. I'll continue converting the themes to 16:9. Once I finish all the system themes, I'll start doing some new themes as well (ZX Spectrum, Pinball, DOS and so on...).

Everybody involved in this whole project rocks! Just got my MAME cab back together after redoing the control panel and upgrading the PC, and these new themes make it that much more sweet.

Question for those who want 16:9 for their living room - for the system themes, do you want a permanent video window or do you want it to disappear and re-appear evertytime you pick a new game? I had some people ask me for a permanent one before, especially for Mame.

If you go permanent, you can feel free to use what i've done in my release ready 4:3 system themes. That's how i did it in those.

I did the permanent vid window style when making system themes too. The problem I noticed is I had to use up an artwork asset just to place a black block behind the video, otherwise it'd be transparent when scrolling through games and the background would show. Thus ending up with only one spare artwork folder to use for box or cart art. Is there a better way to go about this or a different method you guys use?

Here's an example of the Atari 2600 theme I made if you have time to check it out: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7004074/Default.zip

Only other method i can think of would involve putting the box in the background.. like in the image.. or if you want it to have an intro effect, do the background in flash and add it to that.
