Pyramid_Head Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Quite a few fixes. Though I haven't tested it myself yet. http://demul.emulation64.com/
Kevinlives Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 You beat me to it Hunk. This little detail raised my interest the most: - SH4: MMU critical bug fix and speedup, all WinCE games are playable now I don't think I can contain myself until I get home after work to test this. Does anyone want to give the WinCE games a whirl and get back to us?
Pyramid_Head Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 Sorry man I might give Sega Rally 2 a whirl and see what happens.
Trnzaddict Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I so need a new vid card for Naomi now. This stretch sound thing ain't cuttin it. On the plus side Aspect ratio is fixed and the emulation seems like it has been improved even more. Scrolling In Metal Slug 6 is finally smooth, Spawns opening has no more raphical glitches but the picture is running to fast for the song and the music runs out before the scene ends. Overall the best release by far but still need quite a beefy card. I'm only running games @ 640x480 and I have my core clocked to 925 MHz and sound still skipping all over. I am......Machine
Pyramid_Head Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 I tried Sega Rally 2 which is an WinCE game. It seemed to work pretty well actually. Except for the announcer he sounded demonic lol. Haven't tried any others yet.
kyoken Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 i can play all games full speed in window mode, but when i switch to fullscreen, then goes slow, all games have a choppy sound, i have the lastest AMD A10-6800K 4.1 ghz, and it´slow in fullscreen and have a choppy sound too
somail Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 In b4 someone asks djvj for an updated module (which I doubt is needed).
dark13 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Which version of sega rally 2 are you testing? I tried a usa .cdi and a jap .gdi and both seems to get stuck at memory card verification. Both of them works on demul 0.581. BTW I really "HATE" demul: single threaded and x86-only, the kind of stuff that demands for a core i5 >2500k. The fact that naomi's 2 T&L additional chip is still unemulated and the emulator demands a GOOD videocards get things worst. Demul is the only emulator to get a speed bump from my gtx9800 to gtx660 upgrade, now at @3.2ghz virtua fighter 4 final tuned is almost 100% (and still BAD rendered). I would really like to see a nullDC with proper z-buffer, vmu emulation and naomi2 support -.- BTW, bleemcast gt2 (reported to crash due to vmu) still crash the emulator (I didn't test the .cdi, should test with my original disk, as far as I remember it was a cd, not a gd-rom) Automatizing infopanels creation from .csv files for HTPCs themes (look at infopanel tutorial.zip on the ftp in dark13 folder) PNGs to SWFs automatized flash scripts Hyperspin Wheelset automatized template (photoshop's variables + batch) Aeon nox 4.13 W.I.P. hyperspin skin

And yea I'm pissed as well because I'm finding myself upgrading my video card now FOR THIS EMU ONLY...every other emu runs fine on my shitty 6570. I am......Machine
Pyramid_Head Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 I agree, it's ridiculous we have to have a beast of a GPU. It does pretty decent on my GTX 650ti Boost though. About Sega Rally 2. I'm using the dumped GDI (forget which) converted to chd.
dark13 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 The main problem is cpus seems to don't get better no more as time pass by. I mean... 4670k is something like 9% faster than a 2700k and fx8350 is not so far from a phenom 2 x6. Some years ago the philosophy "we're seeking for perfect emulation, if current cpus does not have enough horsepower it's not a problem at all, in 5 years those games will run 100%" made sense, today it seems to be REALLY WRONG. The only way to have more power by today standard is "more core and newer instructions"... well, I'm not a coder but many coders have explained "WHY" multithreading is not so effective in emulation while "newer instruction" path seems a dead end too. Pcsx2 got a "AVX" build and it seems to be slower just as dolphin's opencl texture decoding slow down the emulator. Preserving hardware trought software emulation DOES make sense BUT making software playable makes even MORE sense. If it wasn't for supermodel, for example, great games like scud race or daytona2 would still be "arcade only". x64 is not "faster" if code is not x64 native (actually it can be even slower) but as far as I remember demul's x64 build was faster. I cant' really get why they dumped x64 version. Moreover... well', you're emulating something like a dps+cpu+gpu (2xcpu and 2xgpu + unemulated T&L chip on naomi2) on a single thread. Timings can be problematic but I guess you can emulate cpu on a thread while using another thread for gpu. MAME is not that effective while multithreading but it can use 4 core for a little speed bump (looking at temperatures with 100% cores load I guess there are tons of "wait" cycles") Automatizing infopanels creation from .csv files for HTPCs themes (look at infopanel tutorial.zip on the ftp in dark13 folder) PNGs to SWFs automatized flash scripts Hyperspin Wheelset automatized template (photoshop's variables + batch) Aeon nox 4.13 W.I.P. hyperspin skin
Kevinlives Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Yep yep. I played around with the new version last night with what little free time I had. Most everything booted just fine. I did experience some sluggishness, which surprised me considering a CPU running at 4GHz and 2GB 6950 were powering it. I'll screw with the settings a bit more this weekend. Perhaps I was being a bit greedy running 1366 x 768? Oh, and VSYNC dropped things to an unbearable crawl. Did any of you experience emu crashes when stopping the ROM? Every single time I hit "Stop", demul would blow up a few seconds later and report an error with dxgi.dll. I was too lazy to see if there was a DX update I needed. I'm guessing the HL module would circumvent this nuisance anyway if the process is killed upon exit. Armada amused me for a few minutes. I may have to give that one a bit more testing.
jcm9800 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 i also will begin the testing beach bikers now works good and is fully playable and virtua fighter 4 tuned is also good playable sound only stutters sometimes the two gaelco atv versions runs fine with 60 fps the smashing drive games runs also but without sound the hikura games runs only in window mode air trix runs but with a lot graphic glitches and stutters planet harriers is good playable some graphic glitches star wars pod racer boots up after start demul chrashes nascar is also playable with graphic glitches brave fire fighters is also playable but looks really dark dont know if this is a error :-) the good point is this stuff runs every version better and sometimes i hope the will also be full playable in fullscreen [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I'm using the dumped GDI (forget which) converted to chd. Hunk...that is actually the card I was thinking of getting as it is about 3 times as fast as my current one according to benchmarks. What CPU do you have? How does Atomiswave/Naomi run @640x480 with no graphic options unticked? Cause honestly this emu uses a lousy 14-22% of my i5 2400. If I still get stutters/unplayable frame rates after upgrading to the 650ti even at 640x480 I'm removing the emu from my cab completely as that just is a sign of a VERY unoptimized build of an emu IMO. Pyramid_Head Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 I have an AMD FX 8320 clocked at 4.2ghz this is on my desktop though. On my cabinet I have a Q8200 clocked at 3.2 running a shitty Radeon 3870 card. I haven't ran the latest Demul on there for obvious reasons lol. Like I said in the PM, the devs really should create a less demanding graphics plugin.
connorsdad Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 The volume seems really low in this version
Tristeele Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Does the current module allow Hikaru or Gaelco games to play? I really had fun with smashing drive.
joe35car Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I just tried playing smashing drive and seems to be working fine.
boomerps2 Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 What version of module are you running? Disable Autosort under the Hacks section keeps on enabling itself which creates graphical glitches in most games. There is no option in the 0.5.7 module. Any updated module being worked on for 0.5.8?
joe35car Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 My fault I only launched it outside hyperspin.
boomerps2 Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Open up HyperLaunchHQ and get into Demul and select "Edit Global Module Settings" the settings where you can have a predefined setting for each rom. Now Select rom settings and in each game there is the option "Listsorting", that needs to be set to true and your problem is solved and you can use the new demul 0.5.8.2.
