JoyStickKilla Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Mednafen has released a version with experimental Saturn emulation. Perhaps something to keep an eye on. http://forum.fobby.net/index.php?t=msg&goto=4409msg_4409
Styphelus Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 About time someone else has a go at the Saturn.
phulshof Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 How much better than support under MAME is it other than the infernal chd requirements? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
damageinc86 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 F yeah! I love mednafen for a bunch of other systems. This looks very promising given the positive feedback.
OneBadVeggie Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I don't think so. I'm pretty sure SSF, Yabuse, and now Mednafen are the only worthwhile Saturn Emulators.
dark13 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 To me SSF is the ONLY usable saturn emulator, Yabuse seems to not be compatible with just too many games. Basically I use it only for Rayman and clockwork knight 2 (it has graphic glitches but that game has loading problems in every SSF build I tried). It's a shame as Yabuse has a retroarch core ans SSF would really need filters. Let's hope for a good saturn emulation on mednafen as RA has also mednafen cores... Automatizing infopanels creation from .csv files for HTPCs themes (look at infopanel tutorial.zip on the ftp in dark13 folder) PNGs to SWFs automatized flash scripts Hyperspin Wheelset automatized template (photoshop's variables + batch) Aeon nox 4.13 W.I.P. hyperspin skin
Trnzaddict Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Just a heads up gents, the Mednafen Saturn core is now available in the retroarch core updater. Read nothing but good things so far, people claiming compatibility is even higher than SSF and many are using this as their go-to solution for Saturn emulation now. Not bad for only being an experimental core, and only good things will happen as it is improved. I am......Machine

gigapig Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 I did try it and Astal (a game that was hit and miss on SSF) fired straight up. Sounded a little glitchy but played well.
JoyStickKilla Posted August 23, 2016 Author Posted August 23, 2016 New version out today. Supposedly has some fixes for some Saturn games. http://mednafen.fobby.net
DamnedRegistrations Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Just a heads up: this is actually the first Saturn emulator that will play Doom. I recorded the vids for it for Emumovies the other day. Will check it out more later to see if any other games without vids will boot. Saturn port of Doom is terrible though and runs slow as crap, so I wouldn't recommend playing it for fun lol
Trnzaddict Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Hopefully the libretro guys make a core out of the new release with the fixes. I am......Machine
DamnedRegistrations Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I went through and tested all the games which had no Emumovie gameplay vids. Only 2 games from the db now will be missing videos. I already recorded and uploaded a bunch for Circo to finalize. Die Hard Trilogy doesn't work in any emulator yet. Just play the PS1 version. Virtual Golf will run in latest Yabause but freezes once you start a course. Doesn't boot at all in Mednafen or SSF. Z will run in Yabause but the audio is terrible and annoying. Also doesn't run in Mednafen or SSF yet. Found out that Z runs in SSF 0.09 alpha just fine.
jcm9800 Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 really cool guys i will give it a try [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
DemonEyeX Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Really glad to hear this news. The latest version of Yabause is definitely an improvement, but I haven't been able to get it looking as I would like so far.
Avar Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Interested to check this out when I have time. How many controllers does it currently support? I'm loathe to give up being able to do 10p Bomberman
