Update:

  • Began auditing Nintendo Entertainment System but quickly discoved just how absolutely fubar the current official XML is so a. we sincerely apologize for the current state of the NES XML b. It's going to be fixed c. Audit will be done against the new xml and everyone can look forward to having a more inclusive NES setup.
  • I am skipping Final Burn Alpha for the following reasons: a. Database not updated since 2015, b. It's a collection that's essentially just a specific emulator's compatibility list, so it's inclusion is kinda like having a collection for something like ePSXe, for example c. AFAIK it's purpose is letting people with potato computers run certain games that MAME/mednafen/RA already run and I'm guessing 99.99% of those users won't have need of HyperAI d. This collections presence in HyperList has caused users confusion for years and I suspect most people reach the same conclusions I have.

Please let me know if you care about Final Burn Alpha and I'll reverse my decision and include what we do have for it in the audit. If there's a case for it, we can include FBA as an advanced option but I'm strongly against its being listed as an official system because everyone sees it, goes "wtf is this," then does a lil research and goes "wtf is that doing on the list?" :P

could you please let me know whats bugging you examples and what you would like improved would be greatly appreciated. Such as missing games or games that shouldnt be in it or even incorrect metadata that you have noticed.

Thanks for the response. Its not so much the content of the database, that has been vastly improved since the older versions but amount of variations floating around. Im currently working on my NES setup at the moment but this applies for alot of systems.  I am currently using a variation created by Damned but I have 4 or 5 different database variations and the problem with having that many variations comes when people start creating media sets for the different variants. Ive found it impossible to find a database version that has complete, wheels, boxes and carts...maybe im too much of a perfectionist, I flat out refuse to mix different box sets etc. N64 is probably in a worse state in terms of missing media for the latest database.  I think it needs to be made clear for new users to get their databases from the forums and not HyperList as it is so far out of date now.  Hope this didnt sound like a rant because thats not what it is. Once the audit is done and HBL is up hopefully alot of these holes will start be filled.

Thankfully, the changes that HyperAI is bringing are going to murder this sort of thing with fire in the not-too-distant future. The audit will help in the interim as well since I'm renaming everything to the databases that will become the official sets. Major things being corrected in NES right now for example are the re-inclusion of important compilation titles (eg. Super Mario Bros + Duck Hunt that shipped with the console) as well as the addition of relevant protos/unl or, in a few cases, dupes/clones that have unique historical value or their own unique artwork. Also, hoping future developments will will make it convenient for users to switch between "Digital Museum" and "Just Let me See the Stuff I can Actually Play!" on the fly in a practical way.

When things are ready :P If it helps, everyone on the dev team is working basically non-stop in their respective lanes. I stick to my arcs of fire for the most part aside from offering ideas so my efforts are all poured into the audit and the HyperSpin social media presence.

I can't imagine what's involved with scouring the ftp for all the system specific media... Are you going through every user directory? :boredom:

@RLBradders26 When things are done :P We won't let anything out the door til we can get behind it 100% but if it helps, the whole dev team's putting in as many hours as possible every day in our respective arcs of fire :) I generally stay focused on the audit, databases, and media updates. I know we have a history of being secretive but the best I can offer is that we're working as hard as we can to get the best quality output possible in as time efficient a manor as we're humanly capable of.

@Tribe Fan @thatman84 This initial pass is of HyperMedia content as well as the Platinum section of the FTP but I have downloaded and begun sorting the entire unsorted section of the FTP as well. Once I'm done the officially available stuff I'll add the stuff from the Upload Here section and the unsorted FTP content. After that I'll do a game by game video audit then finally, if our current thoughts on future-proofing themes are effective as I expect they will be, my intent is to finish what I started with 16:9 theme conversions and tackle what I haven't yet (basically a few thousand MAME themes).

Future Pinball added to the OP but not yet uploaded. I'm updating my set to ensure the wheel sets I include are clean. This should be done and revisited shortly. Current, I believe, missing maybe 20-30 wheels for this. Currently remains RED for this.

GamePark 32 added to OP and uploading to server. Missing most media. Also of note, this is the first system to highlight the need for additional genre art in the current default style as this system has Visual Novel as a genre. Additionally, expect genre capability and meta-data in general to improve drastically and for there to be increased value in genre art in general.
