potts43 Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Just a thought.... When renaming cue/bin files. My PS1 archives were renamed to match the hyperspin xml database. Eg Original Game [slu1356].zip Renamed to Game.zip They would then audit and run fine from hyperspinHQ. I found that inside archive the bin and cue were still named Game [slu1356].cue Game [slu1356].bin However, the game ran ok, as the cue file pointed to the single bin file. BUT I ran into problems with multi bin games. I found that they were named Game [slu1356].cue Game [slu1356].bin Game [slu1356] track02.bin Game [slu1356] track03.bin Game [slu1356] track04.bin The problem was that the cue was referencing the first bin file as Game [slu1356] track01.bin When in fact it was named Game [slu1356].bin I'm not sure why the first bin has been renamed which no longer corresponds to its cue. So how do we fix that? Either renaming the bin to match the cue or editing the referenced bin name in the cue. Would it be possible to do this from an archive or would it have to be unpacked to a folder first? I would like to select my rom folder which has the roms in an archive either zip,7z,rar Then the program reads the cue file and sees that there is a mis referenced bin file and either renames the bin file to match or edits the cue content to match the orphaned bin file. Then save updates to archive. Alternatively make the user unpack archived roms before you start. As some sets are over 1000 roms this automation would be awesome.
tanin Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Hello, I'm testing the program with snes box art artwork and I choose "Move unneeded roms or media to subfolder" to remove box arts to games I do not have. I dunno why, but after a certain amount of files I get an error. So some files were removed and some don't. The error is this: "Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue... Length cannot be less than zero. Parameter name: length". Any ideas?
flames Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Hi TXXT!! We really appreciate your effort with this program!! I would like to ask you if there is anyway to print the check table (after program scans to indicate things you have or are missing), or to export it to Excel, to work with it by my side.
potts43 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Hi, I've used your program a lot today and request the following.... Be able to edit both name and description in the xml. Even better to have all fields. This way you can have custom Xmls made easy. If possible have two way renaming. At the moment you can rename roms and artwork from the xml but for systems like future pinball and WinUAEloader that change regularly it would be good to point the DB xml to an updated rom and update the xml to match that newer rom name. Be able to add/copy/delete xml entries. This way you could add a blank entry and complete it and then save it. On the renamer page have a totals number always present.eg. Unmatched/total Matched/total Both/total Great program!
potts43 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Just wondered if you were still updating this wonderful program?
spotUP Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Wow! Thanks!!! Finally i have a nicely filtered MAME xml!!

Yardley Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Really nice utility. One feature I noticed missing is the option to move themes in the "Move unneeded roms or media to subfolder" options. Seems simple to add this feature.
Turranius Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Concerning Mame, I also used it to clear out the roms I do not have in my XML. Saved a LOT of space. But it also removes the bios roms (like midssio.zip) so when I tried to start, for example Journey, it fails, missing that file. I can move the needed roms into another dir (mame\roms for example) and specify that folder in HyperLaunch as well. It works. But how can I find out which rom files are actually needed (bios or otherwise) so that I can move them? IE, needed rom .zip files but not games. skylinekiller Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 I am trying to use this tool, but I have my roms in a different directory than my media files...My media is in the default location in Hyperspin, and my roms are in the emulator/console folder. When I try to edit Hyper Spin System Settings ROM PATH, the "update Hyperspin INI is grayed out.. How can I set this up to scan my media and roms if they are in different directories?
xttx Posted April 12, 2016 Author Posted April 12, 2016 - To change rom folder - click "options" button (top-right corner of "matcher" tab), Click "use custom folder". You can now manually enter or browse for folder for each type of media. - In the latest version (my previous post) "Update Hyperspin INI" button is not greyed out any more. - Source updated. - I guess i should wait for this thing to be a little bit more stable, before uploading it to main app section.
