Depends what you're looking for I guess. The new ones seem a helluva lot more complete but we're still working on em.

If you like being pedantic, are hella OCD, and enjoy digging, learning, researching, and hella keyboard jockeying you're welcome to join the database team.

I have no idea why some homebrews were removed from system sets but imo they never shoulda been. This set, for example, had some homebrews on it while others weren't. On inspection, it seemed totally arbitrary. Moving forward there's a clear distinction between what constitutes a system and what constitutes a collection. A "system" is a set of games for a very specific hardware, eg. a specific console, computer build, or arcade board. Collections are logical groupings or fan-lists. For example, MAME is a Collection that is a superset of all arcade architecture ever made. Super Nintendo Entertainment System is a Console System. Atari 8-Bit is a Computer Collection that's a superset of all the various computers in the 8-Bit line (eg. 400, 800, XEGS, etc.) and Capcom Classics is a Collection that's both a subset of the MAME collection and a superset of various Arcade Systems. Sega Triforce, Sega Naomi, Sega ST-V would be examples of Arcade Systems. So to answer your question, homebrews should remain part of their associated system set, but can also be part of a fan-made hack collection.

Mine too... just noticed something amiss in Atari 5200 and spent 5hrs researching and digging -.-;

There's a ton of work going on behind the scenes right now on metadata. The way we do a lot of things will be changing. In the meantime, I have attached below all of the current best databases we're working off of. These are a good reference for Content Creators working on a system to help guide artwork. As always, if you see issues let us know. Supra's Ultimate sets are likely going to be the most accurate in cases where I've included two sets for the same system: Current_Databases.zip Update 1 - Newer Atari 5200 xml: Atari 5200.zip Update 2 - Newer Atari 2600 xml: Atari 2600.zip Update 3 - Newer Atari 7800 xml: Atari 7800.zip

Atari Jaguar console re-audited with FTP and Upload Here section. Many additions. This set needs better cart art (the current ones all use scans that had really low internal resolution so they're unreadable). It's also missing a few carts and a box and a wheel for some protos (see notes). System upgraded once I have the missing wheel + box + 2x carts.

Atari Classics arcade collection (superset of Atari 400, Atari 800, Atari 1200XL, Atari 600XL, Atari 800XL, Atari 65XE, Atari 130XE, Atari 800XE, and Atari XEGS computer systems.) re-audited with FTP and Upload Here section. Nice new pointer added.

Atari Classics arcade collection (subset of MAME) re-audited with FTP and Upload Here section. No new usable content. Note: Unless I've already made note of it for a system, I won't be adding new 16:9 conversions to the lists for now. Maybe later. I am still keeping them all stored and organized locally though.

Imo it's fine but I'm warning Content Creators to keep a proper/native 16:9 ready backup of what they're squishing so when the churn happens it's painless. Resolution doesn't matter

Ok I'm back to where I was before I had to backtrack the second time XD The changes and housekeeping I've been doing will carry on as I go. With the native widescreen support coming, I'm not longer tagging artwork as (4:3) or (16:9). Instead, tagless means 4:3/1080p(ish) standard size and I have introduced the (1080p), (4K), and (8K) tags as applicable. Also, for the same reason I am no longer tagging themes as (SD) or (HD). I am, however, indicating if a theme is 100% (SWF) content. This doesn't indicated whether or not it's been properly smoothed but non-smooth SWF material will continue to get marked red for being as ugly as it is inconvenient Despite the audit setback, the good news is that the recent changes are going to make it faster/easier for me to go through and sort everything for our needs and shouldn't be any audit-related delays for release.

Some changes to my auditing protocols: As I complete systems, I will create a new thread for them in the Project Status forum I created and remove them from this one, that way there's only ever one point of info so it'll reduce confusion and reduce my workload. 16:9 conversions "hacks" have gone from high priority to low priority. I will still be keeping a local set. Minor changes to organization and nomenclature and tidying of deprecated media in progress before I keep moving forward. Shouldn't take long.

Theme Creation Direction - 16:9 is the New Standard
Avar replied to Avar's topic in HS1 Graphic & Theme Creation
Native = will support w/e resolution/aspect ratio you're using. There's a way we can workaround existing themes to get them working but it's non-ideal relative to themes built for native w/o the workarounds we've been using. -
Theme Creation Direction - 16:9 is the New Standard
Avar replied to Avar's topic in HS1 Graphic & Theme Creation
I can release further details to clarify: We are right now actively working on native support for additional resolutions and aspect ratios. While there is potentially a way for us to grandfather 16:9 conversion workarounds to a degree, this new support will make life a lot easier moving forward and I suspect people will ultimately prefer to make their themes in native. -
Theme Creation Direction - 16:9 is the New Standard
Avar replied to Avar's topic in HS1 Graphic & Theme Creation
Amendment to this: If you do make widescreen themes, it's probably worth keep a backup of everything you use in its original size. -

Skipping Arcade PC for now pending some database development. Will get back to it. Atari 2600 re-audited from all-sources. Tons of new stuff this time around. @Aorin had to mark your default theme yellow for now until I or you or anyone does a resize/adjustment to make it work with @Wally Wonka's boxes/carts. The current art is uses is deprecated. @Krakerman a few of your themes had the wrong size videos. I fixed it for the ones I put on the server. @srfran I removed the TM from a few of your themes' logos. Cheers to @dougan78 for the wheel sounds. Also, @Wally Wonka I kept your raw images locally and downsampled for 4:3 use. 16:9 are raw but, of course, adjusted for 16:9. @fr0stbyt3 this system is the first good example of one where there'll be some settings/theme tweaking. Annotated the changes needed below and will continue tracking using this format. System is now green.
