Anyone watching this thread may be interested in this:  The HyperSpin Project Commodore 64.xml has been submitted to HyperBase.

These are great times for the community indeed!  Official C64 Database released!  Easy to share and submit stuff to the download sections for everyone.  I even got to use the beer me thing for the first time.  Nice work Brian!

I have been sorting out my C64.  I have a thing about my boxes and wheels at the moment so I have been putting the art through the ringer.  These may not be to everyones taste, but I like them and once Im happy I will share if you want them.  I made some custom boxes for Tapes and Box art, lots of dif styles depending on the shape or type of box.

Those are pretty. Nice work. What are you doing about the album ones like bards tale or regular boxes like epyx ones or gold box?

Nice work, although I'm not a fan of the fake reflection on the plastic boxes. Any chance of doing a set without it please?

So I now have v1 of my art setup... yaaaay!  But I do have a couple of questions for this system.  I am sure some of this stuff has been talked about before, but wiht the forum move its almost impossible to search for certain information.

 

     1.   What is the best way to set up controls for this system?  Did anyone master the 1-2 port issue and find any kind of work around.  If Xpadder is needed, what is the best config method?  I have seeen Gigs posts with his profile but nothing more was said that I can find.  Also since then things have moved on.  Has anyone improved or homed their settings?

 

     2.   Screen settings. I run a 16:9 screen.  With any others using these settings, has anyone managed to get a bezel to work?  I know the module settings give Offsets, but has anyone got this working, have some good numers to start with or even better have a template that works for them with numbers?

 

     3.     Also, with what Dime said ^^  is there a more complete Database or a way to make it more complete?

 

Other than that, this is some FANTASTIC work.  So much love here for this great ciomputer... Although I was a still a spectrum fanboy at this point ;)

I created a template winVICE Xpadder profile with the back button used a a Xpadder set 2 selector. Basically this covered save States reset changing bezels IC's etc - a blend of HL and winVICE . I then copied that to any game profile that was awkward to run..eg using s to start rather than 1 for instance. I also used ahk game profiles to swap keys if Xpadder didn't support a key eg PAUSE key. I allocated a button to swap ports 1 & 2 on the fly. So far it works well.

Bezels work fine

Sorry I use a keyboard and xbox 360 sticks on my cab for this one. I know some people map keys to xbox 360 controllers with xpadder to get past trainers and cracktros. Good luck.

Dougan, Thank you for the reply...could not earlier answer to you. i will make (when i have time) a xml for games with can be played only with (joystick and 6 buttons) i will share it, when its done.

My cab uses an ipac for joystick and 6 buttons per player. They are the MAME default keys. I always setup my emus to use these keys and then create the Xpadder profile to suit.

Ps...gigapig once reminded me that most systems relied on a joystick and not a keyboard. Until I accepted that I was in the same position as you...Xbox 360 for all but arcade machine and I'm now a less stressed and happy gamer.

i think the easiest way is to  take the offical database and enable wheel only in hyper hq i tried it works for

me and every time i update the stuff from dougan more games will be visible

Make sure you use the commodore 64.ini in wahoobrian folder on ftp it selects joystick port 1 or 2 and enables true drive emulation if the game requires it.

I have been working off the official database for some time. There is like 169 games that are in my database that either:

1 need artwork renamed

Or

2 were just my random additions

Or

3 because c64 is so confusing need artwork replace. Example white wheel wizardry game I added manually and is Spells of Destruction (USA). And needs proper artwork

So I would not fret about those for the time being, I always planned to fixed eventually no one else had the official db so it did not matter much at the time. There Wil be more updates as always so stay tuned. ;)
