New Unified Megatheme

BTW, as I mentioned earlier and some might have missed ... these aren't "alternate themes" per se. All the assets for all versions of a console with a handful of characters to choose from will be packaged in 1 mega theme for that console.

They all look great, though both the 2D Mario's look a little faded/washed out.

Nice! That's exactly what I was hoping for. I love variety. Also, are the theme's backgrounds still animated? I noticed on the 16:9 themes created by steph that the backgrounds are static, and the the system themes don't show box art/carts like yours do.

If you're grabbing them from the Unified Mega Theme, then those are actually by me. I don't believe Stephylus has moved his work into there yet. That set is meant to have as little animation as possible, to be usable by low-end computers, so they won't have an animated background or video border. The system themes are missing the box/cart art because I don't have access to HyperSync, so I don't know what's available for every system. I have some box art for my personal setup, but I didn't want to create themes based off those when it's likely that everyone would have something else. Haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do about that.

Going to delete my folder. No point having it there at this point.

I hope you're not deleting those in a "I'm not worthy" kind of way matey. but more like moving them to the other folder. Don't go Wayne's world on me

Just do the standard for each system theme. Place the box art with the cart placed at the bottom-right hand corner of the cart. It's good to at least include it. People can make slight adjustments in Hypertheme.

Unknown50862 has all the same themes in his folder. No need for 2 folders with the same content.

dont delete them, you have those nice resized boxes and cart sets, i know im enjoying them,so please dont delete them, more people is going to like them.

Those are just the ones I did in my format, there are still others that people created and placed in your folder. There is also your 4:3 set, which contains more SD themes than what is currently in the Unified folder. Plus we never did figure out why our themes differ on each other's setup.

I'm not sure what the standard is when setting the artwork position, but I'd assume it's done with sample artwork, which I don't have. Maybe some of the other theme creators can chime in on what they normally do when setting the box/cart artwork?

I thought about putting placeholders approximately where the artwork should be, but there is just too much guesswork involved in that. The size and dimensions of boxes/carts varies significantly between each system (e.g. N64 compared to Sega Genesis), and the same type of artwork is not available for each system. Only the more popular systems have 3D sets available and plenty of the less common ones don't have both box and cart art. There is also the fact that all the artwork needs to be resized, since their widescreen themes, which means either the user does it or I upload the resized artwork along with the theme, though that's not really an option since I don't have access to all the artwork to begin with. There are just so many variables, that I just figured to leave it up to each user, since they're already likely to tweak it to suit their personal setup.

Those are only for 4:3. I have some done for 16:9 and I created my own system themes to work with the artwork as well. Maybe I should upload everything but the artwork is not complete - only whatever was available on the FTP and Hypersync. Never uploaded them just because I'm lazy and since I haven't completed it for every single system, I did not want the pressure of trying to do everything at once. I don't have a lot of time so I was waiting.

All this will be pointless however because Biggawho is creating even better themes.

The deluxe themes are slow going, lots of work involved in them. Only 1 is published at the moment but I'll be releasing a handful more over the next 2 weeks.

Once those are done (or mostly done) I'll return to the 4x3 animated themes and finish them up.

Is that true ?? I have a LCD 4:3 and am very interesting in themes 4:3

it is true. it'll actually be sooner than that. once i finish building these 8-16 bit themes out i'll be updating what I already had done in the 4x3 themes to this new "mega" or "deluxe" format.

BTW to everyone else: i'm open to suggestions on naming these sets. Deluxe was just the first thing that came to my mind.

I'll need some help building these out probably. The sheer volume of work can be pretty high on some of these.

If I just build out the animated backgrounds and the logo/video border ..

does anyone have time to do the rest? (meaning outputting all artwork into flash and re-sizing for widescreen, adjusting the xml and packaging it all up according to my naming convention thus far)

I'll like to help you, but i need to find portable version of adobe Flash! ^^

Why portable? You can just install it in a couple of locations. I'd say it would lag out in a portable app. You could do it but I wouldn't.

Because, sometimes i'm working on themes at my job and on others computer that my own! More easy, just need USB key! ^^

Technicality there. The application uses online activation methods. Portable apps need to be blocked in such a way that they don't appear blocked. The is usually done by editing the host file on the PC in question pointing it at home and editing that on a work PC may get eyebrows raised. ;) That is the first file I flag or lock down when setting up a work network as it can be used to bypass proxies etc. That's why I ask :D If your work has a network nazi I'd say don't play with portable apps. But if not go ahead and download one from the usual dodgy places.
