Hello everyone,

I believe this may be my first post. I've been doing lots of reading to get my head wrapped around everything prior to posting. I have implemented this startup script and for the most part it works really well. I am experiencing one issue though with two wireless Xbox 360 controllers on Windows 8.1 (x64). I have noticed that if I am going through the systems/wheels that my 6-year old tends to touch something on the second controller which then causes the controller that I am using to stop navigating the system/wheels. The main noticeable thing is it only appears to start controlling the volume and that is it. I have to exit Hyperspin and then launch it again. Once I do that, everything is good again.

Is this a known issue? Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks,

AJ

Hmmm interesting. Navigating HyperSpin is via keyboard. Two independent controllers would be using different keys. If you have a profile setup for your controllers when they return to main menu of HyperSpin that are identical in theory they should work but if you try to use the controllers at the same time for the same purpose you would get a conflict and perhaps the xbox controller drivers toggle and controller ? 1 becomes a multimedia controller while controller ? 2 remains keyboard. Look at the defaul configs for the controllers while in HyperSpin.

First time the issue has been reported that I am aware of. I will see if I can replicate it with two wired X360 controllers. Perhaps it is a Windows 8.1 thing? If makes any difference, I don't see this issue on two other cabs each with a matching set of different controllers.

Cab 1: Win7 32-bit w/2 Zero Delay Encoder controller PCB's

Cab 2: Win7 64-bit w/2 Akishops PS360+ controler PCB's

Each of the cabs can independently control the wheel at the same time. No issue.

On windows 7 having 2 controllers (mine are wireless) switched on allows both controllers to have the same functions and control, so both can change volume and both can probably start a game.

Your specific problem relating to volume is this.

If player 2 moves the right stick on the y-axis (up and down) the volume bar pops up, to be able to change the volume they need to move the left stick on the y-axis (up and down) which obviously you are try to control the wheel with, but left stick control has been handed to the volume function. Same thing for the D-pad.

I suggest asking your 6 year old to get you a beer while you choose the next game ;)

Before I spend another evening fooling around with controller input settings, can anyone confirm if this statup script would work with a Steelseries 3GC wired controller? Thanks!

No one has mentioned they use that controller. But I don't see why it shouldn't work with the script. If a cheap $9 Chinese made board works with the script, you should have no problem.

Interesting bug. Easy fix. So to get this error in the next versions you will need to have 6 people pressing buttons at a rate of 20 times per second. If you can do this please contact the book of world records.

Any chance of an out of cycle release to fix this? Hard to play fighting games with this bug.

I searched the thread but didn't find exactly what I was looking for.

I can't get the favorites button to work with my xbox360 control. I deleted the .exe's that caused the battery level to come up every time I hit the guide button, but still HyperSpin doesn't react to it. What do I need to do or check?

Also, would it be possible for the startup script to check if there is already an instance running, or if there's already an instance of HyperSpin running before it launches? I sometimes have this problem and have to ctrl alt del and manually shut them down before I can start HyperSpin again.

Sorry for the delay guys, been busy reinstalling hyperspin on my new computer. I will stop my attempt at integrating hyperspin event dispatch system for my next version and just realease an interim version that opens up the controls to be somewhat customizable.

@suspendedhatch

See if the back button actuallly works in a game with native 360 support. The button opposite the start button.

Not if Hyperspin starts up the startup script. Now if the startup script could start up HyperSpin, you could add hyperspin to the process to close settings. I haven't exactly tested this.

On my setup a test would look like this. I have not tested this yet.

[startup]

Process_Name_To_Close_1= HyperSpin.exe

Program_To_Run_Target_1= C:\HyperSpin\Hyperspin.exe

if you need any help to setup EDS, I will galdly help, I will be releasing soon a setup guide video for event dispatcher system and Hypermarquee; explaining the internal working of communication between programs. or if you want to do a teamviewer session, I can get it all setup for you and explain it while getting it all properly functioning

Wait, so the back button is favorites and the guide button isn't used? Yeah, I guess I can see that now that I look closer. I swear I tried the back button before and it just spun the wheel. I'll give it a try tonight.

Oh der, didn't think about it. HyperSpin starts first.

Thanks ghutch, this greatly enhances the experience. More than one would think.

Customizable buttons will be awesome, though I wonder if I should just get used to your buttons.

**tried the back button and it works! I've got quests going on Dragon Quest 3, FF5, Y's3, and I'm thinking about starting EarthBound and Fire Emblem.

Hello. I just purchased 2x Xbox wireless controllers in hopes of using this script but I am running into an error. Sometimes My hyperspin will stutter and not start properly with the script set to start with hyperspin (as configured in HyperHQ)

When hyperspin does run the controllers seem to have no response and don't do anything to hyperspin.

I feel like maybe I'm missing something?

I set joystick use to "true" in the ini and made sure the paths for directories are correct.

Here is a copy of the ini

[Required]

HyperSpin_Folder_Path=D:\Hyperspin

HyperLaunch_Folder_Path=D:\Hyperspin\HyperLaunch

[General]

Primary_Color_RRGGBB=363636

Secondary_Color_RRGGBB=ffffff

[Controls]

Joysticks_Enabled=True

Joystick_Delay=225

Joystick_Deadzone=25

Process_Name_To_Close_1=

Program_To_Run_Target_1=

Program_To_Run_Working_Dir_1=

Program_To_Run_MaxMinHide_1=

[Exit]

Restore_Windows_On_Exit=True

Process_Name_To_Close_1=

Program_To_Run_Target_1=

Program_To_Run_Working_Dir_1=

Program_To_Run_MaxMinHide_1=

[Roulette]

Roulette_Key=~1

QuickLaunch_Top_Offset=10

QuickLaunch_Bottom_Offset=10

Item_1_Path=

Item_1_Parameters=

Item_1_LogoPath=

Item_1_Ignore_Process_Close=false

Also I did verify that when hyperspin did manage to start the script was also running

Edit:

This is also possibly a hardware issue. The computer I'm using now is temporary..and has had some problems. Even the USB ports have been fishy.

Just wanted to see if there was anything based on my description + what's posted that maybe I missed.

Thanks ahead of time

Did you install the drivers for the controllers?

Did you install the drivers for the controllers?

Yes. I have installed the drivers from the website and both controllers work perfectly fine. I have tested on a couple of different emulators.

I have reached a new development!

I believe I had left an old keymapper setting on so I have unchecked that.

Now hyper loads just fine into the main wheel, but the controller is unresponsive

The only thing that seems to work is bringing up the volume and adjusting it with the right analog stick.

all other buttons and sticks do nothing.

Kind of odd. But hopefully this will give more leads.

Hi

have a question everything seems to be working OK navigation wise but I have serious delay or no response when I press start, another question I have is once a ROM is loaded how do I get back to hyperspin? do I need to have a dummy profile per emulator with xpadder or can this do it?

Posted

I have fixed my problem.

I scrolled through all the pages of this thread and ran into someone with a similar issue. They turned on their intro video and it worked.

I turned my intro video back on

it worked.

Must be something about the script not loading properly when the video is off? odd

Has anyone found out yet if the dolphinbar gets rid of the issue with controller focus after using a wiimote when using this script? Its the only thing standing in my way of complete controller control Mwwhahahahahahaha!!!

If you still need to know, I got my Dolphin bar yesterday and I like it so far. The Wiimotes connect real quick and I can now use my Walther P99 with more than just the Console.

However, the issues I had with the wheel spinning wildly are the same, so I have to switch back to the older version of the Startup Script.

Done. :)

Nice work gigapig. I directed the user here from my Youtube video. Was going to help him out, but you are much too quick.

1. Stay away from Xpadder now that version 1.06 allows for navigation in the HyperSpin UI. Use the emulators keymapper.

2. To exit an emulator, you can create a global emulator exit command (be sure to enable it or it won't work). Then set all your systems/emulators to use 'Global' for the exit command (they are all set to 'Use Global' by default anyway). This is done somewhere in HyperLaunchHQ>Global>Settings. My emulator box isn't in front of me now, so I can't tell you exactly where it is.

3. As for the slow start, some modules for some emulators have known issues and they are constantly updated. Make sure you update your HyperLaunch files using Git to insure you have the latest modules. Don't use the default download from this forum for installation of HyperLaunch and HyperLaunchHQ. Search this forum for 'HyperLaunch update Git' to find out how to perform the update.
