i think a good project to get done would be making a full HD set of the main menu wheels.

me and THK actually gathered alot of .ai files and .svgs to make it happen.

Yeah see this is a good thread, I totally forgot about that project.

(gonna be back after supper and maybe watch some TV)

One thing is I have access to vault but I never actually figured out where to go to access it.

I think the biggest problem we have is all of us are all over the place. We all have a place, I have been a letters and pointers guy since I'm just trying to get each system I set up with there own. I think we need to make a thread or on hyperlist which is in my signature what needs to be done and when someone does it, to account for it some way. I think there needs to be buckets of teams. Like a cutter, a gatherer, etc. we kind of already do it though. The problem is the same folk really hammer everything out cuz those teams work really well together and it's sort of a are you in or out thing. The wheel makers are amazing when they are focused on an area, they are so dedicated to that work. I feel like they have the best team but it could be just the volumes of which they post that I could be understating other teams. In general, you all are amazing, hyperspin is amazing, we just need a product manager on this thing to keep us all accounted for and organized lol

The hyperspin project was something that the newer members might not be familiar with. People could work on anything they wanted. A lot of stuff got finished, but the idea was to not release anything until a system was 100% finished. This resulted in years of work never being released. As far as I know, nothing from that project has ever been released to the public.

I was inducted into that private group towards the end, but I didn't really know what to work on.

The last post in that forum was July 7th 2015 and was by me. I don't really know if anything was

finished since I moved all my work to the public forums and hid nothing from anybody.

When I credit anybody associated with the HyperSpin Project it's because they gave me image

sources and it was almost always because I asked in one of my public threads.

This statement could'nt be further from the truth for me for example what would i make out of new members its not like any of us here helping get payed heck im not even platinum so i dont even have ftp access for me this is more about getting our own setups complete as possible while sharing what we do to help others get a complete as possible setup but that's just my 2 cents.

I figure that with a community of this size there would be more than a handful of people that can use pen-tool.

I do believe all people should have access, but who would want access to raw images that need cleaned or

even reconstructed? So I release full sets in the downloads, people can always collect them from our

announcement threads before the projects are finished.

Forums man always digress!!

Anyone have any contact with the hyperspin project and any source files they had? I'm new so don't know if this stuff is available.

Or are we going to take on completely new atuff

As far I know, I'm making completely new sets, but one of the main points of this topic

is to find out what everyone is working on so that we aren't doubling up on things and

wasting time.

talk about team work?

since i posted this me and SeanDyer started to collect wii covers we got 960 done in that amount of time

we are missing 560 woot

Ok so me and Omega have been hard at work collecting Wii box scans/covers since last night and i got to say we went in to beast mode a bit we ended up collecting 960 HQ box scans so far weve done all we can for one night now I think i need to relax for a bit and just browse the forum for a bit im starting to feel the tiredness kickining now after being awake for about 30 hours so far but yh just wanted to give everybody an update

That's because you guys are willing to grind it out. Did I mention you are much appreciated?.

Sheez . . . now it'll take me a year and half to clean all those covers, considering it

took me 7 months to clean and even reconstruct many of the 638 GC covers.

and to be fair out of those 560 we are missing we actually have some low res images for some of those :D

I know that Omega is quite efficient with the Google-Fu.

There are so many great source sites for art, that's just one place to start.

Here is an example of something done for the hyperspin project that never got released:

http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/2045-snes-3d-box-art-pack/page-2#entry239907

I would rather not see this again. I asked some people to check the vault for some 2D artwork that was used for some projects and that stuff is not there either. Apparently they had their own FTP.

Wether people want to use hyperspin or lunchbox, art work is artwork and can be used for both. Retro FE is looking good as well and makes use of the same artwork. This will be a project for the FE community in general, not just Hyperspin.

The focus should be on getting good 2D art work and create wheels for systems that actually need them. Creating 3D boxes is easy once you have good 2D covers. I personally like 2D boxes over 3D ones better but that's just personal preference.

HyperVault was started way after HyperProject was abandoned.

The Vault was started by JayC and is funded solely by him.

(I think, unless he found help).

I agree with the 2D artwork, but why not collect the full cover (usually front+spine+back all one image)

if we have a source site that has a good percent of them that's what we are going to do.

I did prefer 2D boxes in the beginning, but now I have to admit 3D looks amaz-ballz.

Yes - even in other front ends.

i like the 2D boxes

but if i had the option id go for the 3D animated boxes JSinn created

and when im collecting artwork i collect every image of the box and carts i see front, back, every spine, documentation etc

a lot of the artwork will vanish because its on ebay so you have to scoop it up while you can

Yep thats for sure and it was one heck of a grind aswell but all worth it in the end and yep i know its appreciated and your welcome :D and yep will probbally take a long time but atleast alot of the source art will be there ready and waiting :)

You can never have to much art/source files the more the better and like you say grab them why we can

I apologize if I've offended anyone, but I've only talked about the projects that I am involved in.

Brolly is totally correct and as he is/was head of the hyperspin project he knows what he's talking about. I know I added most of the stuff I had made for it to hypervault and also released it if it was finished.

Still there is a lot of finished or almost finished sets that we don't have on hypervault nor is released.

Hi brolly, I hope people's intentions are not to spread lies. I'm sure a lot of the stuff we are taking for granted came out of the Hyperspin project.

Is there anything you know of that didn't get released that we could try to track down??

There was a torrent for Hyperspin Project. Partly messy and with some low quality art, but with a lot of content.

Was that the real deal or some kind of side project for one of the members?

i don't believe that it was anything official. at yeah it had a lot of crappy artwork. not worth it imo. not to mention old databases, missing graphics etc etc. at least the one i saw.

Brolly. What part of my post is a lie? The part where I wrote "As far as I know"? No that can't be it. Please explain. I just heard that my friends son was killed in an accident while I was typing this. Oh, god.

why are you sharing this? i mean i'm sorry for your loss, i really am. but it worries me that you still thought about it and then took your time to write this down instead of maybe calling your friend or something...

I can only speak from my own experience with the MAME set, but I would love to see is:

- A central upload location for people to drop material.

- One or two project leaders per system who sort out the received materials, and update a list of what's available, and what's missing.

- A central download location for people to download the sorted materials. Eventually this set will be complete, but I think it's good if people can use what's available rather than waiting for it all to be finished.

It would be great if this art would be available to all communities; that would also help bundle all the artists rather than doing the same thing in 100 different groups. The HyperSpin community would be a great gathering place for this; without a doubt this community started it off.

Since I work under Linux I manage to automate most parts of the sorting process via scripts, since MAME is a moving target, and the list is constantly updated. For fixed lists the process should be easier.

On another note: I'd also love to see a project to create/sort the art for the MAME software lists. MAME is a very good emulator for most older systems, and support via the software lists works great. Finding a matching romset is a breeze as well...
