The HyperBase team is working a system for the Media Approvers to be able to add media and directly

distribute. I don't know all the details, but this should greatly improve the process. :)

Even better hypersync should be the platform to distribute it all, people to browse, sync, etc... I know they are working on stuff. Thanks

i think hyperbase live is replacing hypersync

HyperBase Sync is the latest name ;)

And it will have much better functions and possibilities for adding and updating the artwork sets than we have now with HyperSync.

http://hyperbase.hyperspin-fe.com/ - That is a great way to keep everything together.  Does that get updated anymore?  Judging by the lack of anything to do with MS-DOS I am going to assume that it isn't being updated.

What we could do is everyone pool their art files to find as much completed stuff as possible.  I have been collecting HyperSpin media for years now.  I have collected art from all over the place, I really have no idea what all I do have (I will shortly).

Then we could use something like http://hyperbase.hyperspin-fe.com/ to keep track of everything.  We would need linked threads to everything that is listed regardless of whether it is being worked on or not.  It all needs to exsist just in case anyone does do a one off.  Those threads would be strictly for posting completed items.  All discussion could be done in a separate category for that system.  Threads for Wheels, Box Art, Themes, Discussion, and Databases could be added as well.

Having system specific sections like what they did with databases would be advantageous.

I am not sure of the practicality of having an Awaiting Approval thread that houses things that need to be approved.  Once they are approved the files are added to sync and moved to the completed section.  This would make it very easy to see what needs to be approved.  I am not sure how that is done now.

We could do all this through a Google Doc.  I will build one as soon as I know what all I have in regards to media.

This sounds fantastic!

I do know that only a select few can modify anything in the HyperBase, only a few of the

site Admins if I recall correctly. Maybe Giga can help us with that?

Our old site had an "approval system" where uploads couldn't be added until reviewed on a

backend only accessed by the Approvers. I never got to use the system because I was made

an approver after the new site went into effect, which has no similar system.

A spreadsheet of all existing medias would help tremendously.

On a side note: I'm almost done uploading the 3D GC set over at LB.

I got a bit lost, is this a new project or is it joining with HS project? :P

I talked to xALPHAxOMEGAx and posted my 2 cents even on another thread: the main problem is in the emulation community everyone is re-inventing the wheel again and again and again, often without any quality improvement. To me it is time for a global communities project released under a creative commons licence every FE creators and users can freely use. I mean, on another thread we have the coder of another frontend asking for help with artworks database, this is crazy. Moreover we have good media creators that had argue with this or that community and asked to remove their stuff... again, this is crazy. We are all dumping a truckload of hours into this thing and -breaking news- no one is getting or will ever getting rich with this thing, media creator and FE coders, but it seems people tends to confuse frontends with soccer, football or politics. Should every FE be free? Yeah. Should every FE community made the money they need to run their projects? Again, yeah. A catch 22, probably, but in the very end emulation community is a "little" community and people who can afford it tends to support their community, there are people supporting more than one community to be honest, and if anyone could freely access to artwork stuff I think the situation would be just a bit better for coders AND users. In the very end, to be honest, there are lots of people wanting to play "old games" who have problems decompressing a folder and moving it into the correct path, so I guess "premium" services might be focused on these people.

It was never about anything to do with money, I don't even have my "Beer Me" set-up.

We're just trying to "organize" all the projects the best we can, similar to HyperBase,

and maybe see if anybody wants to join in all the insanity?  A few people will still plod

along and maybe we'll have HS 100% set-up by the time we are 90. lol

The new HyperBase Sync app will be insanely more user friendly to upload to and more people will have access to uploading, updating and editing it. I think that sounds like a good way of distributing even half done projects...just press sync and see what new stuff you get.

And the media approvers will be able to upload it.

The only problem is that you need platinum to use it as it is now, just like hypersync.

Um so I was getting a bit lost also!

Good job on the 1st post update AxO

This threads vision (how I read it:)) was to organise a team that can help to source and create artwork, pooling on projects to get them finished up quicker and taking in single bits from the community and being a bit more visible on what needs doing and who is doing it than the current system.

Looks like this is moving forward.

What I see is that the infrastructure is already here or coming. If the hyper base live works as stated with more than just one or two able to decide on quality and upload to it for syncing that covers distribution of finished art. Hopefully if will allow for individual art updates not just full packs (as full packs can take months to finish and people like to see progress)

The one big outstanding problem is visibility of what needs to be done and where/who on here is currently doing it it was doing it.

Are we really asking for a top layer WIP overview section of the forum??

I think that is the best way to do it. Currently projects are a couple of layers deep in the forum and specific to a section. Most of the time I stay in 2 or 3 forums that's it. I don't always see what's going on.

I believe HS has done a huge amount of work recently to the forum and backends and it seems many things got lost but the sections here are clear and well thought out.

The WIP section should be visible with databases of oustanding art required and links to all the project threads on the go. I'm happy to work on a task like that. What do you think? Much like Adamg's post

It is good to get some experience talking in here helps us new blood understand the hurdles that have already been overcome in the HS community.

Dark13 a community project like that I'm guessing would only come if someone takes the balls by the horns and organises it. That is way bigger than this thread imho!

Money is always a factor because having large amounts of data available to a community cost money at the end of the day... Premium and donations is how we are able to have this conversation on a forum!! With hosted downloads!! Nothing comes for free in any life

Hopefully these posts can get shorter soon so we can just start cracking on ;)

AxO hoes the GC disks going? Anyone helped yet? What is the process for getting sources? I'll give it a go when I get time

Could anyone in Admin advise this thread if there is anything they could possibly do or want to do with our ideas. We all just want to help out.

Thanks im trying to make the original post look nice,

ill update it as i go. if any one has any other ideas for it let me know

yeah the purpose of the thread is to work together to get things done faster.

but at the very least and most important thing of all in my eyes.

is knowing what every one is working on and what raw art resources they have collected

so the art collectors dont collect something thats already been collected.

nothing is worse than wasting time to me

the original post will be used to keep track of spreadsheets, current projects and who is working on them.

ill also post little things if someone cant find the artwork they need to finish a project.

as far as the gamecube discs still missing 161    waiting for JSinn to come up with the way he wants to do them and tell me what he needs from me

Today JSinn and I messed around with the Main Spreadsheet.

he added links to certain parts of the download sections to see what we are missing etc

mainly for the main menu wheels

The download sections has missing main menu wheels and some sections are missing a catagory for menu wheels all together

we marked them off to take care of them soon

ive been making more spreadsheets with the XMLs from hyperlist

and were on the right track

hopefully we can get everything organized and moving smoothly

When I woke up this morning I noticed that my full sync had finally finished.  I did not get a chance to go over the data before I came to work but as soon as I get home I will start working on getting that together.  Sorry for the delay, apparently there has been much added to HyperSync since I last used it.

I wont get a cookie for it but maybe it helps

It will be great to have a spreadsheet of what HyperSync spits out, I think it should differ

wildly from what our download section has.

I'm currently in between projects or at least taking a break from media production.

I will be working and sorting the in the downloads today. It's a mess.

Trying to be more communicative here, lol

The problem with hypersync is that what you get is what your databases have...and not all of the hyperbase db's are the latest nor correct compared to the ones in hypersync.

I usually don't use the old HyperSync because it messes up my set-up.

I was maybe hoping to get at least some media that wasn't in the downloads.

It's going to be a lot to organize. ;)

Sorry Bit off topic but

With the downloads section has base packs been tried or pied? So main menu theme, system theme, wheel art etc in one download. (I can think of a few reasons why not)

Also I'm coming across many themes that just are not fully compatible with Android. Over time is there a way to specify which ones are compatible

It would be possible for bulk downloads, but would also require a lot of work.

(probably for me, lol)

I'm guessing that Android doesn't like flash, you could check inside the

theme.zip for any SWFs, but on the other hand all the 16:9 themes use

SWF for image smoothing. I have no way to add that option to downloads

anyway.

Not sure if this fit the goals here, but I'm currently trying to make complete fade in packs, I've found some full covers for wiiflow in another forum and tried that to see how they'd look like, they were downsized to fit wiiflow or something like that, so most aren't in HQ, any idea where we can find full covers in HQ, packs are welcome :D.
