CriticalCid Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Regarding AAE and American Laser Games: In @KlopjerO's FTP folder there’s a huge .psd file called „arcade-mame.psd“ which does not only include the source files for the MAME 16:9 Unified Main Menu theme but also a whole bunch of variations of it for other Arcade systems/collections as well. I don’t know if anybody ever converted them into usable HyperSpin themes as I never ran across them but as everything is already perfectly laid out and pretty much finished it should be probably fairly easy to convert them if you know how to do this. Regarding 16x9 Unified themes it may be worth to check out other .psd files on the FTP as well as I found some others that were never converted for HyperSpin when I did an extensive search for these kind of themes last year. But unfortunately I can’t remember what those were exactly. Not sure if you audit/include Video/Cinematic themes as well and if HyperAI even supports an easy set up for them but I did some missing Arcade systems like "Taito NESiCAxLive" in that same style as videos for EmuMovies. Compared to the ones in the .psd file are they pretty basic and lazy (no custom control board, ugly marquee, etc.) as I know almost nothing about image and video editing but I thought I should let you know anyway in case you have use for it. You should find them all on the EmuMovies FTP in the official Platform Video folder (tagged with Unified) or under “/Upload Here/_Video Snap Submissions/CriticalCid/Platform Videos” (the videos in that folder will hopefully be pushed to the official set very soon) 3 THE POWER OF THE SUPREME RULER DESTROYS ALL EVIL! Avar Posted June 28, 2017 Author Posted June 28, 2017 I am including Cinematic stuff but nothing I have to pull from EmuMovies until the very end for reasons. As for the PSD stuff, anything like that I'm setting aside as raw files for creators but I'm not personally finishing off anything that wasn't already zipped, just cuz I'd never finish. 3
Avar Posted June 28, 2017 Author Posted June 28, 2017 Amstrad GX4000 re-audited from all-sources. Major upgrade thanks to @zbboc's great 2D boxes. Only major detractor for this system now is the rough cart art. Other than that it just needs minor touchups. I un-animated and properly smoothed the 16:9 default theme as the animation wasn't working anyways and it looks better now. Lost a lot of time fixing the video border on the Azurica set so I could fix the video aspect ratio (everything except the video was corrected for 16:9 already ><;;). Also, thank you to @knewlife for an additional 16:9 HD main menu option and @gremlin72 for the new pointer style. adamg Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 This is probably nit-picking but those guns used in the media for American Laser games are Namco guns released with the PS1 port of Time Crisis. Not really anything you would see on American laser games. From what I remember the ALG (haha my initials, just realized that) gun looked alot more like the Lethal Enforcers gun for SNES. Just weird to see. Then again I still have issues when I see modern Mario art used for the NES or SNES. 4
wesfranks Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Also the Ultimarc Aimtrak gun that most of us use. Same housing I got from arcadeguns.com although the product pic is different now. https://www.ultimarc.com/aimtrak.html But from an ALG traditional view, I see your point. 1

Tons of new stuff this time around. @Aorin had to mark your default theme yellow for now until I or you or anyone does a resize/adjustment to make it work with @Wally Wonka's boxes/carts. The current art is uses is deprecated. @Krakerman a few of your themes had the wrong size videos. I fixed it for the ones I put on the server. @srfran I removed the TM from a few of your themes' logos. Cheers to @dougan78 for the wheel sounds. Also, @Wally Wonka I kept your raw images locally and downsampled for 4:3 use. 16:9 are raw but, of course, adjusted for 16:9. @fr0stbyt3 this system is the first good example of one where there'll be some settings/theme tweaking. Avar Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 Some changes to my auditing protocols: As I complete systems, I will create a new thread for them in the Project Status forum I created and remove them from this one, that way there's only ever one point of info so it'll reduce confusion and reduce my workload. 16:9 conversions "hacks" have gone from high priority to low priority. I will still be keeping a local set. Minor changes to organization and nomenclature and tidying of deprecated media in progress before I keep moving forward. Shouldn't take long. 2

Avar Posted July 10, 2017 Author Posted July 10, 2017 Ok I'm back to where I was before I had to backtrack the second time XD The changes and housekeeping I've been doing will carry on as I go. With the native widescreen support coming, I'm not longer tagging artwork as (4:3) or (16:9). Instead, tagless means 4:3/1080p(ish) standard size and I have introduced the (1080p), (4K), and (8K) tags as applicable. Also, for the same reason I am no longer tagging themes as (SD) or (HD). I am, however, indicating if a theme is 100% (SWF) content. This doesn't indicated whether or not it's been properly smoothed but non-smooth SWF material will continue to get marked red for being as ugly as it is inconvenient Despite the audit setback, the good news is that the recent changes are going to make it faster/easier for me to go through and sort everything for our needs and shouldn't be any audit-related delays for release. 3

Avar Posted July 10, 2017 Author Posted July 10, 2017 Just what I you already saw in the Theme Creation Direction thread.
Dilated18 Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 Do you think it would be wise to stop applying the widescreen squish to art from now on or at least upload the original nonsquised art along with the themes? 1
Avar Posted July 10, 2017 Author Posted July 10, 2017 Imo it's fine but I'm warning Content Creators to keep a proper/native 16:9 ready backup of what they're squishing so when the churn happens it's painless. Resolution doesn't matter

Avar Posted July 10, 2017 Author Posted July 10, 2017 Atari Classics arcade collection (subset of MAME) re-audited with FTP and Upload Here section. No new usable content. Note: Unless I've already made note of it for a system, I won't be adding new 16:9 conversions to the lists for now. Maybe later. I am still keeping them all stored and organized locally though.
Avar Posted July 10, 2017 Author Posted July 10, 2017 Atari Classics arcade collection (superset of Atari 400, Atari 800, Atari 1200XL, Atari 600XL, Atari 800XL, Atari 65XE, Atari 130XE, Atari 800XE, and Atari XEGS computer systems.) re-audited with FTP and Upload Here section. Nice new pointer added.
