Going to print my own artwork from now on. The materials are expensive. What is better, gloss or matte vinyl/polypropylene? and what did you use on your cab?

Anyone know where i can find a tank stick layout on the web so i can design my control panel. All of the ones i have found are not the correct size so the holes never line up when printed. I retrofit a tank stick panel to fit my cab because i dint have a router to make the correct cuts for a new board.

Ok, so when I normally use a computer monitor with my pc, I run a vga cable from the pc to monitor. When using this method, i can turn my computer on, and the monitor cuts on automatically with the computer. With my arcade cabinet setup, I am going to switch things and use an old CRT television for the monitor in my cabinet. I am going to get an S-Video to VGA converter cable to run from my pc to the tv. If I buy a hotstrip and plug the computer into the main slot on the hotstrip, will my television power on and off each time I turn the computer on, just like monitor normally does when you power a computer on and off? How can I make the television turn on each time I …

*in progress* Instead of your traditional cabinet we have been tasked with redesigning a small sit down bar. The pinball buff that I am wanted to have a traditional pin cab but the video game enthusiast quickly chimed in. Knowing I was going to actually keep this as a bar rather than a cab lets get a few things straight. Wanted to go inexpensive but heavy and sturdy so we decided to just frame out as we can always rebuild lighter and pricier wood so started our furniture building. This cabinet is also going to reside in what is now our home away from home man cave/jam room where I play drums for a rock/metal band. We might need a bigger boat...eh backglass TV that is…

Hello Everybody, I'm turning an old royal Video (Neo Geo) Cabinet into an modern design Cabinet. I bought this cabinet 10 years ago and left it at my parents house. It has been dead for a few years so i decided to make it a hyperspin cabinet. I want it in the livingroom but my wife wasn't very happy about that. To make her a little bit happier I want the cabinet look like an eames design chair. Wood on the outside and and black. So i bought black buttons and removed the bezelart and tinted the glas over the monitor black. Put in an old 22" crt vga monitor i got for free. A xin - Mo decoder and new black buttons. I bought a secondhand pc with a i7 2600k 3.2Ghz …

Hi all. Newbie Here. I recently purchased a supposedly dead Silver Strike with the intention of building out a MAME cabinet. I liked it because it looked like someone had already added 2 joysticks and extra buttons to the beast. It turns out the plug was royally jacked and upon fixing that the beast powered right up. I checked the wiring inside and it looks like they spliced into the jamma cable directly with these. Though I'm not sure why. Maybe a horizontal all in one? That aside the game works great. Now I'm not sure wether to mame it or not. If I did I'd Put in an LCD or TV (I know...I know). This would be my fist time trying this and I'm thinking I would have to…

Hello, everyone. I am new to the world of emulation, and am working on creating my first cabinet. I am a bit confused about setting up my controls, and I have a few questions. I would like to be able to run 4 players on my cabinet, but having a large 4 player cabinet will be too big for the room I plan to put the cabinet in. I would prefer to have a smaller, 2 player-sized cabinet. What I am thinking is that I will build a 2 player joystick setup on the cabinet, and also have 2 x-box controllers tucked away that I can use as player 3 and 4 on the rare occasions when 4 people are at my house. My 2 joysticks are going to be wired into an ipac. What I am wondering is,…

Hi guys, I'm getting close to finishing my build and been thinking about a marquee.....I'd really like to have a dynamic marquee. I have a spare 19" LCD monitor and think this would be perfect for this using a mirror and top mount the LCD but am quite confused on how I would do this. is there a certain angle the mirror would have to be to project the image correctly?

Hi guys, After lurking my way around here for quite some time now I wanted to show you guys my own build cabinet. It's 100% custom and not like any other cabinet out there. My brother and I love cabinets and retrogames since we were kids so it was just a matter of time before we deceided to build our own cabinet. We have been collecting games and consoles for a long time and always kept our collection up to date at http://retrogamebrothers.com. Therefor we deceided to build a custom cab dedicated to our alias the "retrogamebrothers". Lets start of with the finished product. Also see our cabinet in action If you don't get anything we say, its because i…

I am finishing up a build, and some of the last few details are the bezel and underside of the marquee. I am wondering if anyone has had success with a "cardboard" bezel - by cardboard I mean something like a framing matte or a stiffer/shiny piece of cardboard. Thanks - Mike

My bartop has been finished for a few months. However there are quite a few systems that require a trackball or at least a mouse....I am not doing a whole rebuild (widen cab etc) but I had thought about doing away with the 2nd player controls and adding a trackball. Thoughts? Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk

Was looking for a Gen2 i7-based PC because the I needed a machine that could comfortably run a Radeon HD4890 card at a low cost. Found an eBay auction and won it for $80 because it happened to be for local pick-up only. Likely for good reason because this thing weighs 50lbs. Auction read that it booted to the BIOS only, so I don't know if it works. There is no HDD but that is no biggie. Won't get a chance to work on it till the weekend. It is both overkill and underkill. Overkill because I only will run MAME, Taito Type-X, and some Dreamcast/Naomi emulator (CPSIII, Atomiswave, etc) for arcade action. Underkill because it is now 6 year old hardware, so I won't be playing n…

Hi all, First off, thank you to everyone involved with making HyperSpin and Hyper/RocketLauncher, as well as all those who participate in this site and keep this community alive. I've wanted arcade cabinet for a long time since I was small enough to stand on stools in the arcade to reach the controls, and this thing was a ton of fun to build and has been a ton of fun to play with. The build album is below and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again everyone, I'm really glad I found this place. Album: http://imgur.com/a/2MfZ6

A few photos of my icade mod up and running now. I've modified this quite a few times now as space was extremely tight, sourcing small components proved to be taxiing. The motherboard is a standard small form factor intel board which currently has a low powered i3 CPU, which I will bin soon in favour of an i5 There is currently 4gb of memory there are three hard drives 1 x 3tb 3.5 hd - this stores all the roms 1 x 120gb ssd - this stores all media and videos 1 x 60gb ssd - this stores windows 10 the controls are soldered to a Mini IPAC running to a USB The front coin led panel of the ION icade has been rewired to the power LED of the computer…

Almost done this project, thought I'd show it off a bit. I'm a dwarf (short stature) and that's a pain in the ass for using upright arcade cabinets. So ten years ago my dad, who does woodworking as a hobby, created a cab scaled more to my size. Nothing too fancy, basically a shell I could put an X-Arcade stick, computer, and monitor in. Fastforward to today, where to honor my father (who passed away this year) I pulled it out of mothballs to update it with new technology and better artwork. Now it's running HyperSpin on a 3.6ghz computer with a nice refurbished 1600x1200 LCD monitor; great for modern games and with HLSL and other video filters it can mimic the low…

Hi All I have been lurking on these forums for a few months trying to get my head around Hyperspin with varying degrees of success and then more failure however i have put that on the back burner for a while whilst i build my 32 inch vewlix clone provided from Troy at Arcadeworx ( Perth , Australia). Just a quick background with regards to the machine build is as follows . I was searching the internet for plans to build a cabinet to house a PC running Hyperspin and an Xbox 360 running RGH so i can copy all my current games onto it . Whilst i was doing this i found Arcadeworx and after some searching of their designs i decided to buy it and get the ball r…

Hello I had started a project that was to only be a virtual pin cab, but opened Pandora's box and have had a ton of fun working on a cabinet idea I have not seen done before. Prior to sharing everything I am looking for some help in making use of a second monitor. I am in need of some info to help display either 1 or many images on monitor #2 while using hyperspin. I have read a few threads about hyperspin helper and am not sure if this would be the way to go or not. Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

Hi, everyone. Love this place. Anyway, I am in the planning stages of building a custom CP and I have always preferred ball top sticks over bat handle ones. I was hoping someone could recommend a good ball top stick that has: 1) The option to change the ball top to a different color 2) No "clicky" sound (those are microswitch, right?) Leaf switch are silent, yes? 3) iPAC compatibility (I assume they all are?) What stick models/brands are you guys using? I could sure use some guidance.
