Just heard about this remake from Tim Wrights CoLD SToRAGE Facebook page, I've always loved the intro music from the Amiga original and it looks pretty good so far. Still early days though. Early demo on Gamejolt.

Hi everyone, I built an arcade cabinet and I'm happy with all the mame games that I could find. But what I truly love are the newer type of arcade games with amazing graphics etc. I'm trying to get us much "newer" (coop/fighting) pc games that function well with just the analog sticks and a few buttons. Just to name a couple I found awesome: Guns, Gore & Canolli Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime Mother Russia Bleeds Lichtspeer Speedrunners Double Dragon Neon Hope you have some good suggestions that we can add to this list.

Any Coleco experts? I recently took apart a couple of coleco controllers to clean them and try to get some of the buttons working, restoring them basically- there is a great youtube tutorial on it too. I've tested on: -a PC with retro atari to USB and Sega to USB adapters -a MIST fpga computer (hardware clone of old consoles and computers) tested with usb adapters AND the MIST's built in Sega/Atari/Commodore style control ports. -a BlissBox adapter on a PC In every environment, both controllers have working directional knobs and a working left fire button... they are cleaner, better and tighter now after the restoration. In all tests on real hardware (well …

Thought it would fun to compile a list of games the general consensus considers the definitive version of a game. I think a few assumptions should be observed: 1. Arcade games are better than home versions- unless an arcade game was ever made off a home game or rare exception, it seems redundant to say arcade versions are the best since we have MAME. For example, I adore Sega MegaDrive versions of Golden Axe and Strider, but would rather play them in MAME any day. We know Pacman on the 2600 is crap. However, it would be fair to say best HOME version of an arcade game. I don't know if game compilations on modern systems EMULATING arcade versions should count though. …

I don't know if anyone noticed the latest mednafen added pal support. And compatibility on this is extremely good. Last time I played with this was the unstable release with Sega Saturn. This emulator is very good. Probably the best Sega Saturn Emulator now. Crazy how fast this emulator coming along with Saturn Support. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

I just asked this question on the Retro League forums, kick ass podcast by the way, and thought i'd ask people on this forum as well since obviously there is a love for classic arcade games here. I am assuming because most of us went to actual arcades in the past. So here is the wordy part: I just started my MLIS program online at San Jose State University, and I'm delving into some core concepts of the Information Sciences. One of which is the concept of "Information Communities". We were encouraged by our professor to focus on something that interests us, or is a passion of ours. Naturally, my mind started to drift towards thinking about the Arcade Community, from ei…

Hey everyone, So I've started adding the NEC PC-FX and am having a little trouble with it... and I'm really just wondering if it's even worth the trouble of getting it setup and still dealing with art/video assets. I have 0 understanding of reading Japanese, and I'm not sure there are even any English friendly or possibly translated games for the system. What do you guys think?

I'm looking for reasons to keep my 3DO wheel. Previously the version of Road Rash I had on it was more than enough, but I've since realized that same version is available on Sega Saturn, which renders the 3DO version pointless in my eyes. Are there any REAL games on this system? As in, not FMV 'experiences' and other novelty stuff like Jurassic Park interactive? Lucienne's Quest was the only example I could find.... I'm talking exclusives. Platformers, FPS, Adventure, RPG, Racing, Action, etc. You know, real games. But only exclusives.

Disclaimer- I believe this thread to be acceptable chatter in that I am referring to talented artists who create hacks and translations of roms in ips or other patch file forms and not supplying the roms themselves. I have yet to need much in the way of hacks/translations, but would really like a hacked version of 'Last Battle' for the Sega MegaDrive. Comparing the Japanese version with extra blood and explosion sprites, I think it is better. I can just play that version, but if the true Japanese translation is a better story, I'm all for it. If it is nearly identical in translation between regions, I suppose someone with the skills could just make a patch with the E…

So the new Sierra Humble Bundle includes the PC Version of Geometry Wars 3... Has anyone ever tried to get it working with an arcade cabinet setup with the 1 and 2 player joysticks acting like the twin sticks of an Xbox360/PS4? Would be pretty awesome if it would work but I'm not sure if it really would or not.

Hey guys. I'm looking for a game from my youth I can barely remember. I think it was an arcade game around 1990 and I remember there was a candle burning horizontaly on the bottom of the screen. I think it was a time limit of sorts. The setting was dark. Maybe a graveyard? I liked Castlevania for NES a lot and that is why I liked this game too. Does any of that ring a bell? Any help would be appreciated!

The biggest problem I've had with my HyperSpin setup is the controller situation. I've got around 80 systems emulated and my original plan was to use controllers as close to the original system as I could and also have the ability to have it setup to allow at least for two player games. So here's what I ended up with: 2 x PlayStation DualShock 2 using a USB adapter (used for NES, SNES, PlayStation, etc) 2 x Saturn controllers using a USB adapter (used for Mega Drive, Saturn, PC Engine, etc) 2 x N64 controllers using a USB adapter (the only controller to really works with N64 games) 2 x Xbox 360 controllers (used for DreamCast, analogue arcade games, etc) 2 x Sp…

Researchers at the University College of Southeast Norway are cruel people who like to play with the lives of lesser organisms. They're also pretty cool scientists who know how to have fun while researching microorganisms' hunting habits. The evidence for both these cases? A tiny game of Pac-Man set up by the scientists featuring real microscopic hunters and prey. THE PAC-MAN MAZE MORE ACCURATELY REFLECTS REAL-LIFE HUNTING CONDITIONS If your Norwegian's any good, you can watch the researchers explain their set-up in the video above, but here's what we've learned courtesy of a blog post and Google Translate. The Pac-Man maze is a 3D labyrinth made up of tiny channels f…
