I thought I should leave another message here on the Android board, too. Even though the CMD method from @thatman84 does sort of work for me (it does for my Atari 5200 setup, but breaks again on the Bally Astrocade), the MAME Software list method works 100% of the time for me. So I came up with a little Windows Powershell Script (after only learning about it this week) that will read a MAME software list and a HyperSpin database and convert the game names it finds in them to MAME software list names, so you can use the ROMs with those names. It only does matching by CRC so it will possibly leave a few unchanged (actually A7800 doesn't match at all with the Hyper…

Has anyone upgraded their Shield TV to Oreo yet? I'm just curious if there are things I should be worried about regarding Hyperspin! I definitely don't want to break Hyperspin since it is my primary reason for getting the Nvidia Shields!

Hi, I am using Nvidia Shield and I have Hyperspin working great with Retroarch. Hyperspin will launch the games using Retroarch Cores just fine. My problem is once the game is playing, I can't exit on open a menu and have to Force Close Retroarch for every game. I believe this is a controller setup problem where once I launch a game in Hyperspin, Retroarch controller setting are only using default settings. Can anyone please point me to a good step by step instruction or explain how to get this issue resolved? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi all, I’m running HS on a Nvidia Shield and have everything running nicely. I recently decided to create an ‘Android’ wheel for my natively installed Android games, so all games, emulated or otherwise can be launched from HS. I have a few games on the wheel now all running fine (Zen Pinball, Snowboard Party and a couple of others) but I’m struggling I get Trials Frontier to launch, here is the entry from my Android.xml database/games list: Trials Frontier Ubisoft Racing The app name is definitely correct, checked against the Play Store and the Apps list on my Shield, but when I try to launch it from HS it says something like “…

Setting Up Systems That Have/Need Games In Subfolders Credits loueradun brentg This guide requires the text editor Notepad++ https://notepad-plus-plus.org/ NOTE A PC IS REQUIRED Why? - HSAndroid doesn't support games stored in subfolders directly There are a few systems that "need" games to be stored in subfolders, to retain specific rom file names and structure (ScummVM, Quake collection etc) and some that you really should organise games into subfolders to save a world of renaming "full sets" (Playstation or any large CD based system with bin/cue files or alike). This thread was the source of this information and IS a very welcome t…

Setting up my Shield TV with ScummVM and I'm confused about the format for the games being used with it. The Libreto Wiki page for the ScummVM core says it uses exe's as a compatible rom extension. Every uncompressed ScummVM rom I have though is just a folder with a bunch of files inside of it. Can I use games in folders like this, as long as they're named properly? Or can they ONLY be exe's with the game name in the title? (laurabow.exe, kq1.exe, etc...)

I want to store all my HS content including games, previews etc on my 2TB external harddrive. How to set up HS to always point at my external harddrive when starting up, starting games etc ?

Hi All, this is hopefully an easy question, I'm using HyperSpin on my Shield and I want to be able to use the X an Y buttons to view Genres and Favorites in the wheels, however I can't see how to change the button mapping. I can see the section in the settings file, but it references button numbers and how do I know which button on the controller is which number? At the moment both B and Y are 'back/exit' and both A and X are 'select/enter" although they are mapped to different key numbers in the setting file? Attached is my current settings.ini Thanks Nigel Settings.ini

(FYI having trouble with upping some screenshots and the new formatting so please excuse the wierd format) Converting 16x9 Themes for Hyperspin Android List of theme animation compatibility https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1-8Ofa_GrAdnQ22nf7W7QYVeQoKBQxA_- (I am in NO way competent with artwork resolutions but my method works and looks good to me) Why... Because sometimes that theme you really liked just doesn’t display correctly The main reason for theme problems is the use of animation and scripting of the .swf assets in the “theme”.zip (It’s best to replace themes that cause Hyperspin to crash out, but you can try to conve…

First of all, shout out to the guys helping me via messages while trying to figure this out, THANK YOU. Heres the deal , I have 2 nvidia shields. I’m trying to transfer my hyperspin setup on my pro to a 16gb with a 128gb flash drive. i CANNOT use the 128gb flash drive as internal storage for the 16gb shield because I have to copy the hyperspin setup off the pro onto it. my question is, will hyperspin run off the USB flash drive if it’s not formatted as internal storage for the shield? I can’t do anything over network moving etc, as I’m 3000km from home. on the 128gb card, I have my hyperspin setup being moved to the root of the USB flash drive. …

Please note my knowledge of this system does not run deep but everything here works and plays fine. What is it? Capcom Play System III or CPS-3 is an arcade system board that was first used by Capcom in 1996 with the arcade game Red Earth. It was the second successor to the CP System arcade hardware, following the CP System II. It would be the last proprietary system board Capcom would produce before moving on to the Dreamcast-based Naomi platform. How to emulate in Android (Shield TV) Quick and simple way is with the FBA core of RetroArch and matching FBA romset. At time of writing current versions are:- Core:- FB Alpha v0.2.97.42 (commit 6b…

Is it possible to play hacked NES, SNES, Genesis, etc. roms in Hyperspin on the Shield TV? I was hoping it was as easy as copying the hacked rom database info from a hacked rom.xml that I got on this site and just pasting it into the corresponding console's current database.xml, keeping it in alphabetical order. Will this work? Here is an example of what I would paste into the SNES current Hyperspin database.xml: It seems too easy as long as the naming matches up for the video, artwork, etc., it should incorporate right in...just wanted to get some input if any one has tried it this way and if it has worked before I put my time into it!!! Thanks again!!!

Hey guys my hyperspin setup is complete now on android for the most part but I have one question. On my nvidia shield, when I’m playing name games, my L1 button brings up the mame menu (dip switches/controls etc) I need to use my L1 and R1 for buttons 5/6. When I go into retroarch to remap this menu , I can’t find it under user 1 bind controls. Where is it? Thanks in advance!

Hyperspin Android "System Name" Settings (.ini) Files What’s covered... SYSTEMNAME.ini Rompaths App/Game Launching parameters Finding App launch parameters Basic customisation (All testing done on Nvidia Shield TV Pro) Before We Start... For the purposes of this tutorial I will be editing the .ini files with Notepad++ & screenshots on a Windows PC. You can use any Android or PC text editor to complete this task it was just simpler for the purposes of writing. If using a combined Hyperspin PC and Android setup then you can get more information on the different settings from the notes provided in the HyperHQ program. HyperHQ directly controls …

So this problem has been around for a long time. Any console type system that doesn't have an android emulator but runs in RetroArch mame cores needs all media renaming to MAME short names to match the relevant Hash file. Circo has given the thumbs up for storing the files on the EmuMovies FTP (Thanks @Circo) Located /Upload Here/_Other/Thatman84_HSAndroid Standards are still up for discussion but this is how I am laying out the renamed files right now _FINISHED SYSTEM NAME/ Videos Wheels Boxart (If availiable) Cartart (If availiable) …

Does anyone have this running on the shield? im using the Mame core in retroarch and I'm able to past the blue screen and right up to the Philips loading screen where you have to click on "play CD-I" but that's it. From there the controller doesn't seem to work so I hooked up a mouse and keyboard, though I see the mouse cursor on the screen it won't work to start the game. If anyone has any info on getting passed this it would be awesome

There are various MAME cores in RetroArch, I believe this is correct? MAME2000 = 0.37b5 MAME2003 = 0.087 MAME2010 = 0.139 MAME2014 = 0.157 MAME = 0.170 MAME GIT = current rom set Does anyone know how to reference each of these cores in Hyperspin? Example, which core would be used with this syntax? exe=com.retroarch/com.retroarch.browser.retroactivity.RetroActivityFuture parameters=cores/mame_libretro_android.so

I want to tackle setting up the Dreamcast next, but wanted to get some input first. Is it worth it? Are all the games playable or is the system very hit or miss and a lot of effort it seems to get working...I tried a little bit already with reicast but can’t get Roms to run...only trying gdi flies by themselves, no tracks or bins. I’m on a Mac and the gditochd programs aren’t working through Windows Parallels therefore I can’t get chd files. I also have the Dreamcast BIOS files in the right folder. Game just boots to reicast and won’t run and gives me a menu with bios and rom name in reicast. Also tried running the bios to set the time, but the controller was unrespon…
