Hey there. New to hyperpsin and MAME emulation. Been using my psp for emulation but it does not do arcade games. I grew up in and around arcades. Countless quarters spent on Quartet, Double Dragon etc. I am now looking at creating my own Arcade MAME Cabinet. My friend use to have a Final Fight Cabinet but it was based on JAMMA boards. I just recently discovered Cabinet builds based on Hyperspin MAME emulation. Looking forward to reading the forums and checking out the builds. looking on craigslist for a beat up cabinet to refurbish and house everything. Is there a particular online store that you guys recommend based in Canada for buttons and joystick components? please l…

I've done some cursory searching on the forums, but haven't found anything. I found a product on Amazon, and was wondering if anyone had experience with it. The product in question is the "Reyann Zero Delay Arcade USB Encoder". It seems really cheap at $12.99, even comparing it to the i-pac VE at $35. I understand that while they attempt the same thing, they are a different class of product. The i-pac ve has 32 inputs, and this seems to have 20. This would only handle one player, but two of them combine to a grand total of $26 for 40 inputs. Anyway, just wondering what you guys think. Would you risk it?

I'm looking for honest feedback regarding the Recroommasters Xtension Pedestal cabinet. I built my first cabinet back in 99/00 during the course of 6-8 months. It was a side project where I did a little bit at a time when I had free time. My original front end was ArcadeOS running on a Pentium II CPU with an actual arcade monitor. I fried the monitor New Years Eve night and have since installed a 20 inch 4:3 LCD. I still have that cabinet in all its glory with a beefier CPU and Hyperspin (as of last year). Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this wonderful project. Anyways, I want to add a second cabinet to our arcade collection in our basement and I really hav…

Hi Guys, I've got a 4670K + Noctua NH-L12 (biggest/baddest cooler that would fit) in my bartop and it's running great. I just started playing with overclocks. I'm up to 4.4ghz using ASRock OC presets. I was able to run IntelBurnTestV2 for 10 cycles all the way up to 4.4ghz and it passed. My temps did reach 100 celcius during the test, but they are idling around 45-50. Is this too hot for idle? Any recommendations?

Hoping that someone can help me. Just in the process of refurbing my cab and seem to have a config issue. I'm using a Jpac card to hook up the control panel. It all seems to be working other than Hyperspin isn't recognising the shift key commands - non shift keys are working. I've used passmark keyboard mapper and the shift key commands are being recognised so it does look like a hyperspin config issue. Any ideas?

Took far longer than I expected and I'm easily 60+ hours invested. Over 110 games are represented. The rules were: -Every game/series shown must have had an actual arcade machine at some point. -Use interesting art instead of game art whenever possible. -No CG art -All games must be iconic, classics or be important to me in some way. Obviously this is a low quality file. The actual image is 73" tall almost 40" wide, 300 DPI and over a gig in size. Time to have it printed! So what do you think?

All, I would like to use a CRT in a new cabinet. Is finding a new or used computer CRT going to give the cabinet the look and feel of a tradition arcade cabinet if done right? Is the computer CRT "too good (higher resolution)" than the old arcades used? I can find a computer CRT for $50-$200 depending on size. which is way less than $600+ for a Makvision which I'm afraid will feel too big but what do I know at this stage of my plans. Thanks, Andy

Just wanted to say hi to everyone, three freinds and I are building a new machine from scratch. We are going to be using a 39 inch lcd tv screen so it will not be like a classic system. We are going to have it 4 player with each having a 6 button setup. This is just the begining I will try to post pictures and progress of our project as we go.

Ok, after many request for my plans for this cab here they are. Remember I made these plans when I first built the cab and this was my FIRST time working with wood. Well about 6 month ago I built this little thing as a bit of a folly Hyperspin based emulator for the console I spent the latter part of my childhood playing. (Megadrive with its various add-ons) using original controllers (had to happen - I don't understand people who emulate a console and then use xbox controllers or whatever) With a "marquee" style monitor in the cartridge which displays the actual cart art for the game being played. Started as faulty consoles sourced from ebay / facebook selling groups. etc stripped them out and built a mini ITX PC as per usual. I added a 500GB sata hdd (ample for the sega 8-16 bit sets - which is all that will be runni…

After three years of building a cabinet in my spare time, it is finally done. I think I had a better time building it and messing around with Hyperspin than actually playing it. Time to show it off and find out what you all think.

Hi everyone, First post on the forums and I am looking for some feedback on my first build, a 4-player pedestal. I was planning on going with a six button layout for P1/P2 and then four buttons for P3/P4. I have set up the computer already and I am emulating up through GC/Wii. I know for certain systems I will obviously have to go with a controller, so I am fine with that. My main question was really if P1/P2 should have six or seven (or maybe even eight) buttons. Are Neo Geo games uncomfortable to play without that seventh button? For those people with eight buttons, has it increased the number/types of games you can play with the control panel vs a separate controller…

I have been sitting on a MAME project for 10 years now. Wow, has a lot changed. As I do my research to get back in the game, I am trying to find the best way to power up my computer, and properly shutting down. What are best practices? I do have an old I-PAC 2 which doesnt support power control, etc. I see the new i-pac does. Would it be easier to buy the new i-pac for that, and are there other features i'm missing from a new ipac interface rather than my ten year old ipac? thanks!

So I bought an ABS sheet http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004YG4X7C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 My original plan was to use this to cut out a border for my lcd monitor. then put plexiglass on top of that. i see a lot of posts here that are painting the plexiglass to act as the border/bezel. I dont have it yet so I am not sure what its going to look like. thoughts? so i guess what i am trying to ask is what people use for their bezel/screen protector?

Hi, I recently built a new cabinet and am using a CRT tv for my monitor (S-Vid input). I'm unhappy with the resolution so am looking into purchasing a Makvision 27/29 CRT for a truer arcade feel. Can someone please explain the benefits (or non) of purchasing a VGA5000 card to go along with the monitor. I've read that's the way to go in hopes of achieving the perfect arcade resolution. I'd like to know if the card is necessary, what would happen if I just ran the Makvision from my computers current video card via VGA? Also, lastly, will other emulators (NES, Sega, Daphne) also benefit form this costly $600 upgrade? ha ha Thanks in advance, everyone!

Hello Everyone! I'm totally new here, first post ever on the Hyperspin forum. Just wanted to share with you my most recent project. I've been fixing restoring and playing pinballs and arcades for the past 10 years. Since last year I have created a side job where I'm doing high end overhaul of machines. I've done Super Pac-Man, Asteroids, Ms Pac-Man and a custom machine for my workplace. I also got the biggest request ever to build a custom cabinet from scratch for a 4 player machine with the biggest possible screen. The client is a big Space Invaders fan and wanted the machine to looks as vintage as possible while offering the newest technology. The cabinet has a …

Hi Guys, I've been searching and unable to find a comprehensive list of systems that can be setup/controls mapped to work with an arcade control panel / with XBOX controller. The goal here is the truly functional systems -- for example, some games can be setup on MS-DOS (same for ScummVM), but both are only truly functional when played with a keyboard. Here's my list of systems I have working. Hoping others can add to it: AAE Amstrad GX4000 Atari 2600 Atari 5200 (some games require numpad inputs) Atari 7800 Atari Jaguar (some games require numpad inputs) Atari Lynx Bandai WonderSwan Bandai WonderSwan Color Commodore Amiga CD32 Creatronic Mega Du…
