Just got off the phone w/ a place here in NJ and they want $40 a square foot for 3/16" tempered glass. A playfield is roughly 8 sq feet (a bit under, but I'm sure they'll round up). Thats $320 for a piece of glass that goes for $44 shipped from pinballlife. Unfortunately, the standard playfield glass is a tad small for my cab, so custom may be to only way to go. I'm curious what you guys have paid for your glass, and where you got it. I'm thinking maybe I can just order from out of state, or even out of country and have it shipped for less than the $320 it's going to cost me locally.

Hi guys, im quite ending my cabinet and it's time for wiring i prepare a little schematich here... sorry for italian language but people could see wiring. i have everything with 12v power (contactors, gear, led.... everything) except knocker: for it i have a 24vcc power (obviously controlled by relay) questions are: - how could i connect the four kick harness of ledwiz (1-8, 9-16, 17-24, 25-32) with 12v if i have in port 8 the knocker working at 24v? - it's really important wire the four bank with 12v if every component (contactors, gear leds...) take the positive directly from 12v power?7 thanks guys

I figured I'd start a thread now that my project has officially started. I spent the last few months lurking and reading a lot before I committed. Backstory: I posted an ad on craigslist a month ago for an empty pinball cabinet. A local called me and said he had an empty Williams Phoenix machine (standard size) and would deliver to me for $100 and some change. He called me a few days later and said he had another cab in better shape, a 1980 Williams Blackout (also standard size). He came by and brought me both cabinets. He thought the project was cool and gave me both cabinets in case I needed anything. The Blackout cabinet was pretty complete minus the electronics, pl…

Amazing how much experience and knowledge this forum contains, respect to you all and I just love Hyperspin and this community! After my initiation with building an arcade cabinet and reading tons of threads and examples of pinball cabinet builds I am finally ready to start my own pinball cabinet build. I'm really looking forward to the whole project and I'm sure there are going to be some difficult design/implementation moments. I probably have some questions during these moments and I hope you are willing and able to help me out . Cabinet: - Standard measures Bally cabinet (new) Screens: - Panasonic TX-39AS500 (39") - AOC M2870V (28") - LP156WF1 TL C1 15.6” LAPTOP…

EDITED with new HW info. Current Status: So, finally… after years lurking on the site, it’s time for me to start my build. Hi there, this is the beginning of the Life Taker thread. Why Life Taker? Well, the cab will probably not receive any decals, or fancy theme. It will get a nice black satin paint and the name “Blackie” was already taken. So I thought that Life Taker is perfectly appropriate if I keep in mind the many hours (days?) spent reading your amazing threads, and also the many days (years?) that I’ll spend playing on it. For the specs: PC: -W7 64 -Proc. Intel i5 @3.3Ghz Overcloacked -Mother board Asus P8P67 -8G Ram -Video card GeForce GTX 560 Ti O…

Well listeners to my podcast and folks that know me will have seen me posting pinball Screen shots After setting up " Hyperpin " and setting up future pin tables (with a huge help from the top man Mike! I've been running pinball tables using 32 plasma and a 19 monitor screen balanced on top of it ( tut tut all exposed wired! ) Using a few spare buttons I've had great results Now my original idea was to make a slim table and plug the HDMI and monitor into arcade machine But I think if I'm lucky in the furture I maybe able to pick up a PC to fit inside it that will run it by itself So copying some designs on here I decided to make it full sizeish... So…

Hey guys... Im building a minipin, and Im looking to start putting together the force feedback section of the build, just curious if any of you might have a good resource for some contactors to use for a decent price? as well as a shaker motor? I understand the Siemens - 3RT1015-1BB41 are what I need to look for, so I get a good "thunk" and response reset-time. Any help would be really great! Thank you very much! Ill post pics of the progress soon, the bottom box is built and mapped out, it's coming along nicely, a few bumps in the road since its a mini, I have internal space issues, but no worries

Hello , after some considerabe thought I have decided to buy a virtual pinball cabinet from VPCabs and I have chosen the model (LE-X) and I am left with a unexpected choice. Initially I planned to go for a 42 inch screen but apparently the 39 inch screen fits in a standard size pinball cabinet and is the most sold model. As I am more of a PC guy than a pinball purist, I am left with what screensize to chose. Do I go for the 42 inch or the more standard 39 inch. I can imagine that having a virtual pin the size of a regular pin would loke nice when its part of a pinball room, in a row of tables (all the same size), but mine will be placed in a arcade stye room with a Vew…

There's a lot of very powerful computers inside some of these cabinet builds, and specs vary wildly, so I thought it might be a good idea to see who has no stuttering (except for say, Monopoly etc) with the worst computer. Although it's always a good idea to go above and beyond what's currently needed (for futureproofing a cabinet), we might get a baseline of what would be the cheapest way to outfit a cab without sacrificing playability. Specs as well as things like loading times might be handy too. Who's going to win?

Original link to file: http://pinacolada.danielpotter.com/dmd-art-guide.html Daniel has since closed his site down, and I can not locate the file needed to convert jpg images to DMD-styled images. (PC_DMD-v1.zip) Does anyone have this file that they can post or send to me? I have tried contacting Daniel, but he has not responded. I am hoping to create some custom DMD-styled images for the LCD DMD on my cabinet Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

I am planning on ordering a standard williams size cabinet kit from Virtuapin. I would like to use the following monitors because they are on sale and seem to be a good size match. playfield Insignia NS 40D510NA15 $250 1080p. 60 hz 1,000,000:1 8mhz response time INSIGNIA NS 29D310NA15. $150 720p. 60 hz 1,000,000:1 8mhz response time Questions: 1. 60 hz should be fine correct? 2. I assume 1080 for playfield and standard 720p backglass 3. am I going to regret getting 8mhz monitors? 4. Anyone else have this setup? Thanks! Kevin

Hi all, been lurking here forever, gradually trying to gather the parts and knowledge to build my own cab. I've had a coin door for a while now and would be happy just to have it for access to the cab and for the service switches. Now the question is, would a coin mech fit in to the brackets on the door or am i missing a lot more hardware etc? Thanks for any help. I am excited about starting my build. Hughie

There's only one certainty here, I'm building a virtual pinball. Ive built a MAME cab from the ground up,so I'm not exactly new to this, but after spending the last two hours looking at various forums and youtube videos, I'm absolutely lost on where to start . The bits Ive mostly worked out - 1) I'm running 3 displays, 42 or 46 inch for the main playfield, a 32 inch for backglass, and a 15 inch for the DMD. 2) Its easy enough for me to build a cabinet as I work with CNC routers and CAD for a living, although I am not ruling out buying an old cabinet shell for a bit of vintage meets new tech Then there's the software, which at the moment feels a bit overwhelming 1)…

hi all so I recently decided to try and build a cabinet for my games room. I was originally gonna use a 2 monitor setup, however I have a few old TV's laying around so I thought I might as well use them. the tvs I have are a 40" a 19 - 21" and a smaller 14" or 15". So my question is this, to keep costs down can I connect the playfield and backglass to a decent graphics card (which is what I was originally going to do) and then connect the dmd to the original video card in the pc? Although I'm pretty good as a user with computers I'm not very technical so the more simple the answer the better lol. Thanks.

One of the most common questions asked is 'will this contactor be any good' DeeGor come up with a great idea to create a thread to list all contactor models that people have used. I decided to do a vid of a couple of contactors I have tried and a Alvin G flipper assemsbly. Here is a clip from BitPirate on how he modified his contactors to sound a lot better Would be great if people could post here what contactors they used, makes and models, to give new people a decent short list of what to look for. If I find the time, I will go through peoples threads and see if I can find part numbers and add them to this first post. My contactors in the new build will be…
