Based the design off the WeeCade but hand drew it onto the mdf(3/4). Was going to go with a strictly classics single player cab with six buttons for things like MK2 and SF2, but I got my hands on a free computer with a PhenomX4(only 1.8Ghz) and 4Gb of ram, so I decided to do more with it. Running Hyperspin with hand selected MAME games (around 110 so far), SNES, NES, Genesis, N64 and Computer games. I threw this one together for ~$200 between buying Tmolding, paint, primer, sandpaper, acrylic, misc cords, fans, speakers, amp, etc. I had the buttons, computer was given to me with the 640gb hdd. and I got the monitor(17") at goodwill for $25, also had a few misc items lying…

I was thinking of picking this up to build a Hyperspin pedestal. What do you guys think? I think it would be a pretty easy conversion and already has built in seating.

Hi Guys, Quick question about MiniPac wiring. I had planned to use a friend's WinIPAC layout, but now I'm adding 2 extra buttons for Pinball Flippers. I've created my own layout in WinIPAC, but I'm confused about the SW assignments. So long as I map the desired keyboard key to the desired button/SW, does it matter which SW I assign to each button? Put another way, as an example, could I randomly assign SW(s) for player 1 and 2 without creating problems... so long as I keep track of my SW to Key mappings? Thanks so much, Owen

Hi Guys, I'm using Tippers kit and am trying to figure out the best way/placement to mount the marquee light. Do I need to mount the LEDs centered directly behind the marquee? Or can I simply mount the LED strip to the top of the marquee retainer? Thanks, Owen

Hi guys, during the last weeks, I built another arcade cab project. This time, it should be something portable with easy connection to any HD-TV. It will be a gift to my sister, who also loved retro gaming, but has not so much space in her flat to place a bartop or fullsize cab. Inspiration came from the i64x.com build here: This is the setup: - dimensions 80 x 34 cm - body of 16mm MDF plates - Top plate is a lid and can be opened. Its fixed with strong magnets - connects to any HD-TV via HDMI - Computer is a DELL laptop with Core2Duo - Laptop is fix mounted in the cab and sits on feets to optimize heatflow - Two cassis fans keep the laptop cool and quiet, …

Greetings fellow Hyperspinners! I have been out of the hyperspin game for a little bit of time now, I kind of got burnt out with all the configuring I was doing and the little bit of theme creation. I am about to return home after 7 months of deployment and am finally going to start a cabinet! Unfortunately my new house will not have enough room for a full sized cabinet so I have decided to go with a bartop. I was not really interested in bartops, but then I saw the Retrocade thread and it made me more interested. First things first, I need to get a new computer. Unfortunately I don't have a huge budget, but I am planning on playing newer arcade games (Type-X) as well a…

So I cant decide if I should fix up the current cabinet that I have, or build a new pedestal cabinet. I built the full size cabinet I have now. Its just big and takes up a lot of space. I'm thinking about taking it apart and adding T-Molding, making it a little less deep and a little thinner. Then adding a 27in flatscreen i have to replace the old computer monitor. Or i could build something like this: I like the pedestal cab, but am having a hard time parting with the full size. I think I can fix it up and shrink it down but I can't decide..... Either way I would probably be using the X-arcade but might upgrade to the tankstick. Just looking for thought…

Here are some pictures of my DK replica build. I used the Nintendo widebody specs to build the cabinet. Specs: 4:3 20" LCD, amd a10 5800k, radeon 7950, 4tb hd , win 7 , 4gb ram. I also have a 1000w receiver with 2 6 1/2" speakers installed on the top angled pointed to the back with a 250w sub in the cab. Running hyper spin with emulators for mame, all consoles and future pinball. Only having trouble running dolphin with Wii due to the crappy processor.

Now, I made this video to show off to my friends and family. But I know it pales in comparison to the stuff I've seen here. So take it easy on me. I do love my new hyperspin cab! Thank you everyone who helped me along the way.

Hey guys and gals, Found this site a few months ago and got bit by the bug. Started building my PC first and figured I would do the cab later. Well fate stepped in and I was able to get a complete Atari Showcase 33 on the cheep (plus a second without the control pod) that included the monitor. From what I can tell it is a WellsGardner D9200 33". Guy I bought it from said I can hook my PC straight to it. Looking at the unit it does have a separate board with a VGA in. Looked around the web and found conflicting info on it. I have a Radeon HD4670 in the PC with a Core I3 chip running Windows 8. Long story short question. Can I plug my PC directly in to the monitor or…

I just bought the stand-up version which is in the top-left of the attached file. I believe the monitor works. I'll need to gut the cab besides that and figure out what hardware I'll need to connect this dual-frequency monitor to a PC running Windows. I don't know if I'll need a graphics card, and if so with what type of connectors. I don't know how I'll power the monitor. I supposed once I pull out the guts I'll get a better idea on the connector types. However a lot of the wiring seems like molex or something similar. I'm not really familiar with electronics very much or the connectors that would be found in an arcade cab. I'm going to remove the front handlebar…

Hi Hyperspin community, after reading and thinking about building a cab for several month, I decided on the new years eve to actually DO IT! With some mental support from my wife, I started the project by installing HyperSpin 1.3 and getting used to HS and HL and all the needed tools. Took me about one week to have a fully configured system up and running with MAME and generation 3-5 consoles, so basically covering the late 80`s till late 90`s, which was my personal gaming decade when i grew up. Next step was buiding the cab itself. With a lot of topics here in this board and some blogs, I was able to learn about all needed parts and important things to think about i…

I have an original Area 51 cabinet and needed new t-molding for it so ordered some 3/4 off ebay. Only issue is I just got it and tried to install it and the slot on my cabinet is 1/8 as well as on my control panel. I'm assuming thr one I ordered is for 1/16" slot? Reading around seems like most people make a 1/16 slot for their cabs. I don't have a choice and have to use the origiginak slot. Anyone know of where to get light green 3/4 t molding for a 1/8" slot?

Been busy designing my graphics for my Cab (that isn't even built yet). This is my graphic overlay for a four player control set up. It will also have four directional stick, track ball, and spinner. Note: I added a two additonal joysticks for player 1 & 2 so dual stick games can be played by two players such as Smash TV and Total Carnage. The button, and stick, spinner etc graphics will be removed on final print. This is just to give an idea of what it will look like. Critz welcome.

I am looking for a marquee lcd screen that will fit in the Ultimate Arcade II cabinet from North Coast Custom Arcades (mameroom) I think it would be cool to have it display the marquee for the game you are playing or just play my marquee logo when in HS. Any suggestions from anyone that has done this I believe the marque size area is: 27” x 7-7/16”

Thinking about doing a digital marquee. Reading some threads and it seems like it's difficult to find an lcd screen that's the right size and at the right price. What's the best option? I also saw something mentioned about using a projector? I have a 50/50 transparent white piece of plexi lying around. Anyone actually use this projector method for a marquee and have it working nicely? I'd be interested to hear from you.

I'm looking for Area 51 side art for a dedicated cab. I need to cut mine up a bit to fit/build my control panel and want put new artwork over it so it looks clean. Any one know where to find dedicated artwork NOS or even reproductions that someone can print for a dedicated cab. I could cut to size doesn't matter. I can't seem to find anything. US Amusements seems to have something listed on their site, but it was updated 6 years ago and they went out of business. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Working on the last few pieces of my cabinet build. Unfortunately the original wood control panel button sizes are irregular and some of the buttons are sinking. I'm thinking to put an acrylic top and mount the buttons in it now that I have the correct bit to make the proper sized hole. I'm using a carbon fiber type decal (for cars actually) that gives it a really nice look. my question is where would be a good place to find control panel button layouts. I'm using the template from slagcoin.com (attached) and would like to find something that uses 3 buttons (lower 3 and upper 3) and provides the same sort of surrounding glow as in the other pic. This will help cover…

I am looking for a case for a micro ATX motherboard to fit into a bartop I do not want to use a full enclosure case but I cannot seem to find a case case or tray for it and the components. I used a myopenpc case for the one in my cabinet and hung it on the wall inside the cab. Does anyone know of a tray/case for a m-ATX board for inside a bartop Thanks

Hello everyone! This is my first post, so apologies for having to ask for help without first being able to give something back. I have made a few MAME cabs and have recently fixed a friend's chassis on his MVS system and thought it was about time I built a bartop one... so not entirely useless I am using a laptop and want to run another momentary power switch so the outside of the cabinet. I've taken the laptop apart and can see this power board on the Dell 1545.... http://img2.parts-people.com/products/1545powerbutton1.jpg This little pushbutton has three wires all covered in some kind of glue so I was thinking, expose the wires and short them until I find which com…
