I'm doing a lot of research on building a control panel and I have 101 question. What thicknesses of MDF, Lexon and Tmolding are generally used? I did not want the lexon to to stick above the tmolding. Thanks TJ

Does anyone have experience making boards like this? Or know where I can have this one made. I want to use this board so I can have FFB on my Daytona cab that I'm converting to a Hyperspin driving cab. http://www.gamoover.net/tuto/l2m2-interfacer-un-ffb-et-volant-sega-model-12-avec-un-pc-ou-une-playstation-23 Thanks, William

Thought I'd share a good deal for those interested... If you're near a Microcenter (sorry US only) they have a bundle deal going on...It includes an Intel G3258 20th Anniversary CPU (G3258) and an MSI Z97 PC Mate Mobo for $99. I also found a $10 rebate on the mobo, so total cost would be $89. Pretty damn good price for an unlocked, dual-core Haswell setup. NewEgg is selling just the mobo for $99. There are plenty of videos online showing people getting 4.6-4.8GHz out of this chip. I picked one up as my dedicated cabinet rig and was able to overclocked the processor to a stable 4.6GHz. So far, it has performed flawlessly for all my emulation needs. Any MAME games …

I'm trying to decide if I should do an all in one or do two bartop cabs. Both for 2 players. I would like to use MAME and arcade games from Xbox 360 with HyperSpin front end. +Positives For all in one Save space Cheaper -Negatives For all in one More complicated setup. Not sure how to switch control panel or how to turn on/off each device. Have to use wide screen for MAME portion. Maybe this isn't bad if there's artwork on sides. What I have already. Small i5 ITX pc w nvidia 430 video card. Newer Xbox 360 23" widescreen monitor with 2 hdmi inputs. Sound comes out monitor to amp and speakers. x-arcade with xbox 360 adapter I also have a 20" Dell 4:3 monitor …

I just wanted to share my arcade cabinet and the final results. The actual build took about two weeks and the last three to four months I invested in getting each and every emulator to work properly. The first boot was somewhere in December 2013 configured with hyperspin 1.0 and hyperHQ. In march I updated to HyperlaunchHQ. I just love the old arcade games via Mame and are now completely hooked to pinball (FP). Used I-Pac for the buttons and Pac-Drive and LedBlincky (registered) for led support. Ever since December the cabinet is used every week and even my wife is now hooked . This week I will install some custom Mortal Kombat side art and consider this project finished…

I have had in my possession a Sega New Astro City candy cab for about 6 years. It was interfaced to a Playstation 2 and set up briefly in a home arcade but since then, it has just been taking up space for about a good 5 or so long years. After 2 or 3 half hearted attempts to sell this off to "tire-kickers" on Craigslist, I've decided to rededicate it for HyperSpin running just MAME (mostly just the classics up through the 90's). Picked up a PCIe x16 ArcadeVGA from eBay which should arrive shortly, and have an old PC which I will also re-purpose for this project. Below are specs for the PC: ASUS A8N-SLI-Deluxe Motherboard AMD Athlon XP 4800+ 2 GB DDR 250GB HDD ArcadeV…

I have more or less finished my arcade this morning. But it needs a new marquee. I want something custom that's represents the cab. I used a bit of carbon fiber in the design of the machine. So I was thinking of something along the lines of CarbonCade. I was wondering if anyone here had any better ideas for a name. Naming stuff has never been a strong point. Here are some photos for ideas.

There are a lot of awesome project here. You guys are really skilled! My story is a bit different I guess, since everything started when I found a coin acceptor on eBay but had no idea what to use it for. I normally try to find excuses to buy stuff I don't need. As for the coin acceptor, I tried to figure out what to use it for... I just loved the device itself, being able to collect coins and programmed it to potentially do a lot of cool stuff. After a lot of thinking I came up with the only sensible thing to do... build an arcade! I have to admit, I'm not much of a gamer (except from Nintendo-consoles), but love to make things work in terms of hardware and software. …

Hi guys, im looking at starting a project. Missus wont let me do the normal cab thimg so I was thinking of going down the road of making ut into a coffee table. Im thinking of smashing a 40inch led tv I have spare into a coffee table design I have in mind. When off I want it to look just like a normal table. Im thinking of black or tinted toughened glass. Problem is that I dont want to loose any of the brightness and clarity once the system is on,but I dont want to see anything like the screen etc when its off. Has anyone used any glass like this or know if this is possible withoutloosing quality???

I'm looking at buying this cab to convert for Hyperspin. It is a dedicated setup for Tekken, but I have not seen another Tekken cab like it. Just wondering if it was a custom build or started life as another game cab? Thanks

Well, here is my nearly finished pedestal cabinet. This is my second cabinet build. My first was a full size stand up cab. I wanted this one to be much smaller and easier to move around when needed. The design is my own but was loosely based on a Golden Tee pedestal cabinet. It is built from 1/2 inch MDF. It features a 32" LCD TV for the screen. It is approximately 44 inches tall and 26 inches wide. For now, I am using an X-Arcade Tankstick that I picked up on ebay for cheap. The speakers are mounted slightly above and behind the control panel. And, it has a coin mech installed. I still have a couple things I need to finish including wiring up the coin mech and p…

I was going to build a bartop cab. Upon further inspection and the amount of things I am going to put into it, even a bartop will be a heavy monster.... My thought is.....I have an empty mortal kombat 2 cab that I was going to save for another project. I do not want to use the 25 inch crt monitor that is in the cab...what I really want to use is the 32 inch led tv I have collecting dust in my basement. Here is the issue...The tv un cased is 27 inches wide....which is the width of the cab I have thought about expanding the top of the cab by adding 2 extra panels to the sides then cutting the original frame to mount the tv. Has anyone here done anything like this? P…

First of all Hello! I have been Lurking the forums for just shy of a year know all why downloading, getting the Hyperspin ready. Well I had FINALLY hit a point were it NEEDED to be in a cabinet! So the week of Memorial Day, I took vacation and was determined to get a cabinet built! After locating a cabinet on craiglist and a hour drive later at 9pm, I made it home with a decent cabinet! My 70.00 start I got it with a jamma USB-PC board, 2 joysticks, bunch of buttons, orginal glass that goes over the monitor and change door! So that next morning, it was ON! I started by figuring out how i was going to mount the Dell monitor. This was the answer! Monitor…

Aloha ALL, Been a while since I been on the forums, almost a year, and in the past year Ive moved to Hawaii, bad part it that I had to leave both my cabs behind. I cant seem to find any place locally that have used arcade cabs, and I haven't moved into a permanent house yet so ive decided to try a bartop once again. dose anyone have any plans for a 15 inch monitor cab? has anyone built this one before http://bartoparcade.katorlegaz.com/05layout.gif and a second question, dose anyone know if www.paradisearcadeshop.com is any good, I think the the past Ive read people having issues. any feedback would be great. Ok started a new project for my son(Little Randy Of Course). Bought him a Logitech G27. This is his setup right now. LOL Also traded a 12" kicker in box for two racing seats with the sliders included. I needed a base for it to ride on. So bought some wood Thursday and started the project that day. Building the plans. Printed at 125% in tile setting with adobe acrobat. Then he and I started cutting the plans out of the paper. I then traced on the wood and the cutting adventure started. Both sides are done up to this point. So Sunday he will be home from visiting his mom for the weekend and we will start again. To Be Continued......

Hey guys! I'm working on getting everything needed to build my cabinet and was just stuck on once piece of the puzzle. I'm not too sure how the wiring of the internals should work if i want to connect the bartop to the wall outlet using a single plug. I mean i know i could use a power bar and have a switch in the back to turn it on and off, but i dont think constantly cutting the power to my internal PC and monitor would play out too well in the long run. As well, I've been looking for methods on mounting the motherboard inside my cabinet on the threads but couldn't find anything concrete. I know the board has to get in there somehow but i'm not sure how exactly. Like d…

Hi All, Just wanted to share with you my last project; my home made arcade cabinet that plays HyperSpin and Xbox360. You Can even add the PS3 (if I had one). Because the components I've used are from the 3 in 1 Arcade stick Pro. It took me about a month to build this one from scratch with no plan only the one that I had in my head . I’ve uploaded 3 videos. In the first one you can see the arcade machine how it looks and acts with HyperSpin. In the second video we’ll take a quick look to the back of the machine. And in the third and last video I’m showing you that the controls also actually work on the XBOX360. NOTE I do not have to plug the controls from HyperSpin to th…

His birthday party is Sunday so i left it a bit late as i started to build it Wednesday lucky i had prototype Bartop shape to hand to help me a little Ok so I shortened below the CP to look flush I gave the sides a sand And painted the panels After that I put it back together And sanded the Control Panel down And that's enough for today.... my first time using black board paint I may have put it on a bit to thick I'll do a light sand once it dry .... If ever Fitted the vinyl to the Control panel and did a test fit…

Hey all, Heres my current setup so you can understand what Im working with. -8 socket power strip with an extended switch (opened the strip up, added extra wiring to route the switch so it can be accessed on the outside of the cabinet) -everything is connected to this except the TV... so I turn it on and it powers up the tv, speakers, and the marquee -computer needs to be manually turned on by pressing its power button -its located inside my cabinet so its a pain to access and shut off SO to the point of this thread I bought one of those master/slave power strips and I wanted to wire the current switch up to my computer so I press the button, it turns…
