Hi guys. I have been toying around with an idea and was hoping to get some suggestions. I have a full sized MAME cabinet that I built from scratch and it turned out great! But unfortunately in my new house I just don't really have the room for a full size unit any more. I am thinking about selling my cabinet to fund a new project. My idea is to make a simple 2 player control panel with maybe a trackball in the middle (similar to the control panel I already have). Then stuff a mini ITX MOBO inside the panel its self. I would then be able to plug it into power and plug a HDMI cable into a TV and be ready to game! I plan to make it a small as possible to make it port…

Hi, I have recentley installed hyperspin 1.4 for my bartop arcade cabinet and are mainly using this for running mame. I have set up the buttons in hyper hq. When i run hyperspin and go to the mame menus, Sometimes when i go to press start button on my control panel to start a mame game , sometimes it launches the mame game , but sometimes nothing happens. I sometimes have this same problem if i use the keyboard instead. Also when i exit a mame game i go back to hyperspin menu , the menu is frozen and only unfreezes when i press the mouse button. does anyone have ideas of what is causing the problem. I am using windows 7 32bit with 3tb ram

Hi guys I have been looking into how you can power a bartop arcade and the majority seem to go down the easier option of including 4 gang extension lead inside the unit. I would like to avoid using plugs and the extension bar so I really could do with some guidance, Please see a rough diagram below:- Can anyone help explain how I can get the ideal solution ? Really, this video explains it all. Gam3B0x updated with Physical Media and CRT Support. This is what I've been working towards as of late. If you're not familiar with what Gam3B0x does, there's a brief introduction at the beginning.. <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJtyiNHGQhs> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RJtyiNHGQhs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Hello all, It's been a long time coming, but I've finally arrived! May I present to you the completed "FLYNN'S" - my arcade cabinet! I can't thank RecRoom Masters and Gamer Outfitters enough, for their wonderful cabinets, custom graphics and helpful staff and services! You helped make my dreams come true...THANK YOU!!!! I didn't want to "theme" the cabinet for any specific game or genera of games. But I wanted "something" that would represent classic arcade games. I'm a big TRON fan!! In both TRON (1982) and TRON: Legacy (2010), one of the main characters is Kevin Flynn. Kevin owns an arcade called "Flynn's" and I thought THAT would be perfect to theme for my cabin…

Long time lurker on these amazing forums, so I felt I had to make a post to thank the community for all the amazing tips and guides to finally build my own cabinet. Always wanted to have my own arcade cabinet since I was a kid, and watching SimplyAustin's guides and seeing the great builds on these forums made it possible. It's nothing too fancy, got Hyperspin almost how I want it, mainly focusing on MAME and the consoles I've owned over the years (NES, SNES, Sega) and an attempt to setup Amiga and DOSBOX, which is working but still a work-in-progress. Anyways, here's some photos of the cabinet, the artwork done by Josh White and prints by Brad Bowman are n…

So now that my first mame cabinet looks like an amateur built it (before I knew about Hyperspin) and after building a couple of pinball cabinets, I decided it was time to give my mame setup a new lease of life. Loved the look of the Funglo style of cabinet, but wanted something a little smaller for the room it's going into. Contacted Troy from Arcadeworx (Australia) and he has designed me a perfect pedestal cabinet ready to be put together Ikea style. Introducing... Arcade Touch Bar v0.2

I wanted a way to have an area of buttons on the control panel of my cabinet that weren't fixed, to control things like bezels, pause and exit emulator. So, I came up with Arcade Touch Bar! Basically it's an Android tablet that will be mounted into the control panel, top centre - on which runs an app that talks to the arcade PC over the network. Currently the app has three screens: - Control buttons, bezel toggle, pause, exit emulator, etc. - Game info, art and meta data - Manual Once I get a bit more done I'll post some more technical info and will upload everything so others can use it too. For now, a video! Things are very rough at this point, but hopefully the v…

Hi, Can someone please recommend a gaming computer online that is under $500 that would offer me a zero lag performance for mame games? Also, if you cannot find one under $500 can you reccomend one in general?

hi guys, so i, new to all this and really want to build a pc to be able to run anything i can throw at it as in the emulation, i have built pc's myself so i am not a novice in that respect but im just looking for you'r opinions on a pc that will run everything from old to new and this is going to be a budget build. like i have said i already have my personal pc that i have built so this one is going to be inside a cab once i get round to building it. the vids that i have seen seem to be a little out dated. im just looking for a good cpu to be honest as a lot of other components can be scrimped on (slightly) i know the g3258 is a beast but that has gone up in price an…

Hello Everyone, This is just a personal struggle for me and wonder what other people think about it. I want to create as close to the arcade as possible when I build my cabinet and get it all setup and running. My OCD moment is to have the bezels for some machiens and not others (since there are none for some) or no bezels at all?? I have the bezels downloaded and the ones that are there are great and make it look more authentic to when I grew up under the warmth of the arcade I used to go to..( it was hot even in winter). Some people I see have the bezels show up per game like I want and some dont have bezels. Fish or cut bait it what i feel this is l…

Hello. I am looking to purchase a "new" desktop to use to ONLY run Hyperspin for MAME (including .chd games). No other systems at all. (i do not need to run all of the bells/whistles that hyperspin offer ...just fyi) Does anybody have a recommendation for the cheapest option to achieve that goal??? I have an external hard drive with all of the roms/chd files already. I also have a spare " MSI GTX 760 graphics card" to add to the system as well. I do not need monitor, keyboard etc...just the desktop. thanks in advance, craiganderson

Wanted to show off my new cabinet. Not 100% yet, for some reason I cant get the buttons to light up. I'll probably have to post about it as I cant figure it out. Artwork was done by Josh White - dfwArcade Printing was done by Brad Bowman - Lucian045 Both great people to do business with. Purchased the Cabinet as a Kit from Monster Arcades. They do great work on these kits, however communication... well it wasn't good. Shipping mix ups, etc. Trooper for a wife helping me. My boys love it, and I think it came out perfect.

I'm sure this was topic was covered but I have a bill validator that I got for payment for fixing a Pepsi machine to give free drinks upon button press one was a beer "LOL". I got it to work now (mechanically) and electrically so far, I have two output wires that appear to be N.O. contacts; should I append this output to two separate relays to mimic 1&2 player coin signals or should I just find another bill validator for Player 2? and I will add some diodes to protect from any back feed from any ghost voltage or coin switches... "I'm using this as a good job piggy bank for the kids" anybody try this yet or am I over thinking?

I'm sure a lot of you already have this but I'm running this on my cab, a screensaver that installs into windows. its a 15 min full of clips of 80's arcades in action with sound. I really enjoy it playing when the cab isn't in game use. link:

I'm on the last stage of my artwork... I'm okay at making vectors in PS, but I'm not an artist and I have just one final element to finish my cab - a castle as seen on the front of Bubble Symphony box. I've actually found the below vectorization of it, but the artist has only posted the JPEG and is unresponsive to my messages (which is unsurprising since it's from 2009). I've tried myself and it looks totally naff, and Vector Magic gets close but not close enough to work with the rest of the artwork (too jagged) So, are there any alternatives to Vector Magic, or would anyone is is good with vectors fancy lending me a hand!? It's literally the last…

Well, I'm finally going to have some time to build my cabinet... took awhile, darn career getting in the way of my games! Anyway, I have several issues I'd like to hear opinions and advice on, but I just realized I left all my notes and schematics at work. I'll add more questions and corrections later, since my memory may not be 100% accurate. Basic design info: about 7 feet tall, 36" wide, and 36" deep (without control panel, which I plan on making removable). 4-player U360 with (10) rgb buttons per player, (2) aimtrak, (1) rgb trackball with (3) system rgb buttons. 40" LCD, 5.1 sound, secondary and tertiary LCD's, LCD marquee. Emulating arcade and console gam…

Hey guys, First time poster, have learnt so much off this website already and was just chasing some information. I am building a 32inch slim build and most builds I have seen online use 18mm MDF on the side panels and the rest out of 16mm. I am in Australia and can not track down 18mm mdf without order twenty 2400x1200 sheets, My question is can I build the entire cab out of 16mm MDF which I'll be laminating? Thanks heaps Noca

I would like to figure out what systems can play well with a joystick and 8 arcade buttons (plus coin and start). I think the list of systems it can't play well will be shorter. I understand that some people use analog joysticks which would change this but I'm talking about old school digital joysticks. So far these systems come to mind: Nintendo 64 Game Cube Wii PlayStation 2 I know I can use a XBOX 360 or PS3 controller to play these but let's face it, it's very uncool to pull out a handheld controller when you have an arcade cabinet.
