I was trying to do a simple bezel layout myself in mame natively. I have mk.lay and mk.png in a mk.zip in my artwork file. The .lay is as follows: <mamelayout version="2"> <element name="bezel"> <image file="mk.png" /> </element> <view name="Widescreen_Artwork"> <screen index="0"> <bounds x="240" y="0" width="1440" height="1080" /> </screen> <bezel element="bezel"> <bounds x="0" y="0" width="1920" height="1080" /> </bezel> </view> </mamelayout> When…

Well, just sitting here waiting on a file renamer to finish and thought I'd ask. Which version of MAME should I aim for? As of this post, latest is version .179. Any Major differences between my current .159 and +.179? I read a while back that XInput was added after .159? Also, lightgun support (aimtrak?) is much better? I believe on RocketLauncher forum, someone(or a few people) said they really liked ver. .175.... ..sorry just a bit bored and was wondering what you thought. t

My birthday is coming up at the end of the month and I have decided to start a yearly event where all of my friends will get together for my birthday to compete in the Super Annual Video Game Ex Hyper Edition Tournament (name to be finalized later). I am intending on creating a board game similar to Mario Party to keep track of everyone's points and to keep it a little more even as I have super game friends and my wife that is not so much. What I need is help deciding on which games to fit into each category. Once i finalize lists for 1 player, 2 player, and 4 player games, I will create HyperSpin wheels for each category and use the HyperSpin feature to select random …

I made some custom pedals for my cab and I really want to avoid using Analog Potentiometers. I found a video on youtube where someone used a Hall effect sensor(which was stationary) which was inserted in a circular magnet attached to the pivot point of the throttle pedal. Really like this idea. For the brake he used a pressure sensor. I have all the components, just had a couple of questions. I took some pictures but my iPhone is acting up, I'll reply in a few with some pics.....

Looks like TecToy, who has been a company that manufactured Sega systems in other markets, is trying to capitalize on what Nintendo is doing with their mini consoles coming out. Theirs however will be full size and able to play cartridges but does come with around 20 games like the NES/Famicome mini. Unfortunately I bet it will be crap quality like the genesis "model 3". More than I am willing to spend, will just stick with my model 2 genesis. http://www.ubergizmo.com/2016/11/sega-genesis-going-back-into-production/

I am at wits end. I went to youtube and found a tutorial by a guy names Derek Moore to make custom bezels and I have had no luck. He has templets to download to create your own art around and for the .lay files but it just is not working! I have the artwork created, I've changed the name on the lay file to match the name of the game (rom name) and I have the image file set to the name of the bezel I want to use. It just reverts to one of the default bezels. I used gimp to make the file so the transparency stays, but its just not reading the file period. Can anyone point me in the right direction here?

For anyone who likes to emulate the 64 you know it makes it very hard to play with any other controller besides an n64(gamecube wouldn't be too bad) due to the way the buttons and everything are. Some may get a el crappo usb aftermarket one or some may use a controller to usb device. Here is another option for you if you want, pricey at $50 but should be one of the best. 8bitdo has released an n64 controller, it is bluetooth just like all their others. I have a few of their controllers and must say they are very nice in quality, their snes/famicom one is the closest to oem quality I have come across. So if someone decides to get one let us know how the quality of it is, e…

Hi guys and girls, I would like to contact the guys who are able to work on feature request for the MESS emulator but cannot find the best contact could anyone help please. Basically I want to ask if they could add an option in the neogeo cd emulation to completely skip loading screens. I know this is possible as Raine has this option but the emulation in raine is inferior to mess. Hopefully someone can help me come up trumps on this. Cheers everyone.

I thought I'd write up a little review for the 20th aniversary edition(yes you're probably THÁT old) of Duke Nukem 3D. I'll keep it short though. although it's as fun as it used to be.. I'd say that 20 euro's might be asking a bit much for a game that received a new weapon a couple of new levels ..and some new lighting effects. game play is still the same. which is a plus.. although I have to admit that being used to Brutal Doom the it feels kind of clunky, and the inaccuracy of the pistol is a huge annoyance. Another annoying thing is the one sided polish of the sound.. all they did is rerecord Duke's one liners ..which and it immediatly becomes obvious when you hear…

So I am trying to get SSF set up to play some Sega Saturn games (seeing as how Radiant Silvergun decides to freeze on MAME about somewhere on level 2 after a mini boss) and I have ran into a ton of problems, all of which I have been able to trouble shoot and fix up until now. I keep getting a syntax error when trying to load or close a rom through rocket launcher. Now from trying to trouble shoot the problem on my own so far I can give this information. 1. The roms are named correctly. I had to fix this and make sure it was the right files it was reading after a million error messages from rocket launcher (and kudos to them because there error messages really help you d…

So I am unable to get it to work. I get hyperlink to recognize the file so I think I have the right Rom. I have done some research and I see something about possibly needing an stvbios for mame. Anyone test this out? Does it come on the latest version and there just be something else not making it work? If I do need to get it then will the emulator automatically Find and use that bios every time I load the game from hyper spin or will it crash every time untill I rest the bios each time I want to play a game that requires this bios?

Ok here is the point: Most of my roms and CD based games are all 7zipped to save disc space. Now, the problem comes when you launch a GameCube, or PS2 game or any "big" CD game. It takes ages to uncompress by HL. I saw that the new HL2.0 has a nice loading bar when unzipping your game. This helps you to wait without asking yourself: "Is it still loading?" but waiting sometimes 1 to 2 minutes before you can play your PS2 game is simply too much... I decided to look back to the old WinRar and learned today that WinRar 5 was beta and available to download. So I decided to give it a try and measure it against the previous WinRar version which is 4.20 and 7zip 9.20. As you c…

the chat room is a ghost town. my self and others would frequent the room daily. now the most devout rarely show up. Just 2 weeks after the switch to the new chat room, I saw the room go from crowded with regulars and newbies, to desolate and deserted. this is a huge loss for new comers. if you were stuck, you could join the chat room and find someone to either tell you in real time your solution or just fix it for you via TeamViewer. i have witness some the the most knowledgeable members reach out to others in the chat room to have their situation resolved. now we HAVE to rely on the forums... it works and in some situations is still needed. however using the …
