Hi - I need some assistance, I notice a few of the cabinets in this forum have used a 16x9 LCD as the back glass and have it rotated vertically displaying a huge DMD at the bottom and the trans lite above. I really like this. what settings and screen resolutions are people using to achieve this. My current setup has a small DMD overlayed over the back glass. I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering how to do this. Any help would be appreciated. from Michael

Hi Everyone, Working on my Standard Size Virtual Pinball, i use a old Stern Galaxy. I want to provide force feedback using the original flip coil (because i have a small budget and i think it's more "accurate" than a industrial relay). Does someone allready heard about this ? I don't have the original Stern alimentation, only a standard PC alimentation (12v, 5v). Does is it ok to operate the coil ? Thanks Ced.

Hello All, I have been watching the Arcade and Pinball emulation scene for about 9-10 years now, and in 2009-2010 I built my first arcade cabinet. I knew at the time that I wanted to build a pincab as well, but I needed some time to recover from the arcade build (both mentally and financially), so the whole pinball idea pretty much sat on the back burner for quite sometime. So then last year I stumbled upon a pinball build on one of the popular arcade forums that was unlike anything I had seen. I was totally shocked at how far the hobby had come! Force feedback? REAL DMD? Interactive lighting? These were all just dreams before. As soon as I saw that all of these thi…

This build may sound familiar to a few people who saw it on the VP Cabinet forum some time ago. I actually started it 2 years ago, but was forced to abandon it due to a series of health and financial issues (I was also forced to sell my Junk Yard pinball machine). As if that wasn't enough, I had a serious flaw with my cabinet that had me ready to quit. This summer I have been able to resume the project and now am very excited as I can see it starting to take shape. A lot has changed in 2 years - Zebulon's been particularly busy! For some reason no computer in my house will connect to the VP site - must be a router or firewall thing but I can't figure it out. Anyway, I tho…

I'm currently converting a Williams Medieval Madness cab to Hypepin. My question is what is the largest screen I can put in the back box? I have seen 27,29,32. So, I'm not sure what would be best. Thanks

Hello Guys, My name is Roy and i am 28years old and live in Spijkenisse (The Netherlands) About 4months ago i cross ago a youtube movie about a virtual pinball machine. When i was a kid my dad owned some orignal pinballs and it didnt took long for me to get a itchty feeling to create a virtual pinball. I read alot of topics on this forum and decided that i wanted a wide body pinball. So the quest started to find a original wide cabinet. After a month i came in contact with some 1 in Belgium who had a demolition man cabinet for sale. I drove up and took the whole thing with me . Making a long story short enjoy the first pics of my cabinet and i will post later on the pr…

Does this support still need to be added? If it does has any one got any ideas how to support it? I don't use Hyperpin my self so im not 100% sure how it all works. I have noticed in videos that when selecting games the background glass changes. Is this using that b2s server? Does it some how receive events from hyperpin every time you scroll to a new game on the wheel select thing? Can a plugin be written to send the game logo to the pinDMD this way? Any ideas would be cool

So after trying to get a handle on nudging options, I figured maybe it would be good to have a thread dedicated to only nudge options. We can update it with new findings, options and results. Button Use these standard flipper buttons with leaf switch Images from Virtuapin's store Just like using a keyboard you can wire a button to do the nudge. Many put that next to the flipper button. Nanotech: The Mot-Ion adapter is a USB adapter that allows Do It Yourself Pinball enthusiasts to build their own cabinet using real pinball controls providing analog inputs for nudging and bumping. USB HID Device No external drivers or programming needed. Automatically rec…

Hi Guys Looking for some guidance. I'm tossing up between these 2 monitors for a custom built virtual pinball cabinet. http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/55-led-tv-full-hd-120hz-pvr/ http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/46-led-tv-borderless-full-hd-motion-max/ One is a 46" frameless that is 61.6cm wide, which should fit in a standard bally wide body cab (63cm) using a routed slot, without even decasing it. The other is a 55" frameless with a 70.2cm width, so the cabinet would need to be larger than standard. No problem, but I'm wondering if it would actually be too big to play comfortably on. I guess the cab would be roughly 72cm wide if I slot it in without decasing it. What I li…

I've been reading the many different builds and I'm about to buy a playfield screen, but theirs some points that I'm unsure of. I have both a standard and wide body lockdown bar that I might use. Since the lockdown bar decides the size of tv that can be used I'm at a toss up. I want to build a slotted cabinet that eliminates the bezel of the screen. The best option that I've seen is from the Big Bang pin. Built by chris99. He uses a 46" samsung in a wide body cabinet. So... The best screen for a wide body cabinet is a samsung, model number un46....... Their the "slim" model, a very tiny bezel, when slotted in a cabinet the width of the machine is accurate to real pi…

Well, having been back and forth on selling the empty build I started 2 years ago, I've decided to carry on. I think my half baked paint job cries out for only one solution.....A Steampunk Build...... Here's what I'm starting with... I'm still in the planning stages, but I can show you a teaser that I pulled off my cnc yesterday.... Which became this today.... One thing I do know...the siderails, lockdown bar and legs are coming off and will be replaced with some custom machined wooden replacements, I'll keep the metal bits for a rebuild I'll do on a Stellar Wars I have...one day... I'm sure this will be a marathon build.....

I'm finally mounting my eight contactors and am unsure of where to mount the "bumper back" contactor. I've mounted the other seven, but where does this one go? Can anyone provide examples of which tables trigger this bumper, and how? Here's where I'm at so far:

Greetings all, I am placing an order with Pinballlife right now and I thought I might pick up my knocker while placing this order for a Williams coin door. So, they have two knockers, the DataEast/Sega knocker for $20.50 and the Bally/Williams knocker for $22.50. So, I guess the first question is if anyone has a preference on either of these or if they sound really different? I will be using the "Knocker Strike Plate" from Piballlife on this build. But, more importantly, I'm running the groovygamergear 12v/5v PSU so I was wondering if either of those knockers will really knock at 12v? Or am I going to have to get a 24v PSU as well? I do want to add a gear motor later …

Hi guys!!! I'm relatively new to these forums but been lurking and researching recently. Taken the plunge to build my first Hyperpin cabinet but it will be a half size mini affair. I usually post over at BYOAC.com but this seems like the most logical place for a Hyperpin cabinet project thread. I know people say "go big or go home" etc. but I just don't have the room for a full size. Besides I have built quite a few arcade mini cabinets using Mame already so I'm moving into pinball territory for the first time and would like to keep the mini arcade theme going. Because I'm new to this I'm gonna need some help along the way. Any advice or criticisms are most welcome. If…

I have a few empty cabinets that I'd like to sell. With the new cabinet business taking off I don't really have time to tackle these. All 3 would make great inexpensive VP projects. Local pickup in 45202 would be preferred but I can ship at buyers expense. First is a Williams Addams Family. The graphics are in great shape. The only hardware included is rails. Otherwise it is empty. $300 Next is a Bally Rapid Fire cabinet. This is a ver cool cab and would make an excellent unique VP project. It has nice powder coated legs and a very nice matching coin door. $200 Last is an older Williams style cabinet. It's standard body width and has had all dents and holes filled…

Hi! What do you think, would it be a good idea to employ a UHD display (3840 x 2160) as a playfield? The Seiko-brand ones are relatively cheap now. To me there are only two alternatives in UHD: 39- and 50-inches. I guess the 50-inch one would be too big, but how would a 39-inch screen fit into a standard Williams' cabinet? What do you think about the idea of using a 4K UHD-display? Could its potential be utilized? How would the 120 HZ one work with BAM? Thanks for comments!

Recently, while reading the threads and troubleshooting issue with members, I’ve noticed a growing trend in faults coming back to the same issue. I’m hoping that this post will help to clear up some of the mystery. Please bear in mind that I’m trying to write this to be as clear as possible for both experienced and novice builders….. Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) / Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) Something to be aware of when building a cab is the RFI that everything electronic and electrical produces. When tvs are decased, in most instances some of the shielding that is designed into them is removed. As well, when you have multiple electrical appliances (tvs, …

I am getting ready to start a virtual pinball build, been reading through a number of past build threads, but it seems most of the 'preferred' panels in those threads are TV's that are no longer in production. With the upcoming bf deals, I was wondering if anyone knows if any of these would make good playfield screens? I want it to have as little visible bezel as possible, edge to edge would be best. Any thoughts?
