Ok so i'm on the vinegar stokes now on my last build (Atari Machine), and so couldn't help but snap up these over xmas: x2 ex bookie cabs with beaut touch screen 19's... Yes I know I haven't finished my last one yet (as the wife keeps reminding me), but I couldn't resist... So my plans: colour scheme - not sure yet? But I love some of the simple colour schemes on the candy cabs website (very similar shape) http://candy-cabs.com/4.html May get this over to my folks garage and get my spray gear out... emulators - not too mad, mame/snes/megadrive at least pc - replace current under spec'd P4 with something with a little more grunt (maybe just a P4 HT + 120gd HD (cu…

I have installed a trackball on my bartop arcade. It has a PS/2 connector and four wires (red, white, yellow and black). Black color is for ground and the other three are for the buttons. I wonder if I can use other buttons located in the control panel so I don't have to buy and install three new buttons on it (no much room for them). How do you map these buttons?

Hello All, This is my first post to the forums, so not sure this is in the right place (apologies). Let me start by thanking you all for the invaluable source of info during the build of my first cabinet, many thanks! I thought I'd post a few pics of the cab, very much in its raw state, but its been fun documenting the process, so why not share... Im getting to the point of adding sticks and buttons now, and have a specific question regarding button mapping that I cant seem to find an answer too. Basically, I want to have a save and load state button as part of some admin buttons on the cab, but am struggling to assign a button command to a single keystroke from all t…

I have been a reader of the forum for a bit, but this is actually my first post. It amazes me how so many of you have acquired skills in programming, woodworking, design, and electronics. However, I only have the skills to setup and configure hyperspin. But, I have all the passion in the world to build a bartop cab and a budget of about $1k (US). My hyperspin setup is on an external drive and ready to find a home in a cab Of course, I'd love to customize my cabinet as much as possible, but what things should I consider without having woodworking or limited electronics skills? I also have my wife's sony vaio pcg-384L laptop running vista that she said I can complete…

Hi Guys, Have a strange issue in Hyperspin where after exiting an emulator and returning to the sub-menu I can no longer return back to the main-menu to choose a different emulator. Thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Jase

Hi I am currently looking for full art work for my cab but i don't know where to start,i live in the uk and want to keep my costs down as much as possible,i am looking for multicade art but would like to design it myself if possible however i would also be happy with artworks that have a varied amount of character art, example mario sonic ken ryu, pacman, vic viper ship, daytona usa car, sega rally car, just many different gaming characters and would like that as side art, then i have no idea for a marquee maybe something similar but less busy with a main heading title ? and something again similar for a control panel. The problem i have is a supplier and i have no ideas o…

Hello All, I was thinking of purchasing an Xtension Arcade Pedestal but the price comes to around $372 after shipping. Does anyone know any cheaper options or have any plans for something similar and how much something like this would cost to make on my own? Thanks in advance for any help. Here is the link to it: http://www.recroommasters.com/Xtension_Arcade_Pedestal_Arcade_Cabinet_p/rm-xt-ped.htm

Hello. I don't have Hyperspin yet. I've known of Chris Upchurch, Hyperspin, and Hyperspin Doom from Youtube for possibly a year. Right This Minute is an American Broadcasting Company reality show where they show caught on tape, funny, or amazing viral videos. On the second episode for October 7, 2014, they show men putting together a Hyperspin coffee table with Super Mario All-Stars and all sorts of other games. The hosts acted surprised as if they've never heard of Hyperspin. I looked online today and I can't find today's footage yet. Speaking of Super Mario All-Stars, I have gotten 7-7-7 in the Super Mario Brothers 2 slot machine 2 or 3 times over the years. I j…

In September the gf and I got a new house. I talked the gf into letting me put my games in one of the rooms in the basement. I have 10 cabs, area 51, big buck hunter, nfl blitz, modded daytona usa 2, emergency call ambulance, my refurbished 27" vert, mame/console based 27" lcd, 2005 mega force touchscreen, jvl orion with touch 7 and my silverstrike bowling. I also installed target toss pro bags, golden tee 2005 and a mame pc inside the silverstrike. I have a video slot touchscreen cabinet that I am also working on. For consoles, I can either play on my 60" dlp or my 100" projection screen. Checkout the video and let me know what you think, thanks!

So I picked up this cabinet from a friend. In its previous life it was a system that allowed pay-for-play of XBox 360 like one of these... It already came with a miniITX motherboard in it and monitor so I upgraded the CPU to just about the fastest compatible (athlon x64 dual core @ 2.6ghz) and upped the ram to 1.5gb As soon as I saw HyperMarquee I thought it would be cool to put a monitor in the header of the machine so after some measuring it turned out that a 22" 16:10 uncased LCD monitor was a PERFECT fit. Just had to cut out the extra bezel that went over the original LED matrix display. Also, it turned out that the control panel was a bit high so I remove…

Hey guys, I have a quick question. I am wiring a 4 player control panel for my home built arcade machine and I have bought a pre crimped set of wires. The ground wires came pre daisy chained which was awesome, but I started on the left most player (Player order: 4,1,2,3) and got to finishing up player 1 only to notice that the daisy chain crimp next on the line wouldnt reach over to the player 2 slot. The next crimp on the chain fits but the one before it will be hanging. I just wanted to know if thats cool or not? I could tape it to the control panel so it dosent hit anything else, or would it not work at all if its not connected to something? Thanks -Mike

I'm looking at possibly going this route for my next project. I'm not very good with woodworking (I have one other cabinet I built with alot of help but didn't turn out nearly as well as I'd hoped) and there aren't many options for used cabinets around here. I was just curious if anyone had tried these and what their experience was? http://www.recroommasters.com/x_arcade_p/rm-xt-arc-t.htm

Hey, Guys! I just wanted to share my recently completed (and first) build. I've been beating around the bush for a while and finally followed through this time! The body is built from 3/4" MDF. I designed the art and had Brad (Aka Lucian045) print it on vinyl. Finally, there's a 1/8" sheet of lexan on top. The controls for Players 1 & 2 are soldered to DB25 connectors which plug into a manual switch that can toggle between the IPAC encoder and xbox360 boards. http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=101&cp_id=10103&cs_id=1010305&p_id=1354&seq=1&format=2 The TV is mounted to the wall using a mount that allows me to rotate the screen 90 degre…

Cabinet's Exterior Here's the arcade cabinet from the outside. The wall and marquee was designed by me in Illustrator CS2 using Recroom's printing templates. Cabinet's Interior Here's the arcade cabinet from the inside. The Pixel Qi controller is mounted to the back of the monitor mount for easy access. You can also see the keyboard controller cables and wiring. Because of the cable hole that runs through the middle of the cabinet's computer shelf I decided to mount the computer and power supply on separate pegboards. A little challenging to load and unload but not impossible. Cabinet In Action! Here's the arcade in action! As you can see whenever you selec…

Hey guys - I've been a bit of a lurker here for a bit, but some of the great work in this forum inspired me to begin my own build two or so years ago. This week, I finally put the finishing touches on the project - much to the relief of my wife. If you're interested in seeing the build process, there's an imgur album that contains it. Here's the final product:

Hi Ya Folks, Its been a while since I posted in the cab forum, been busy with stuff and perfecting my touchscreen cab (still playing with spotify).. Anyway I have ordered a newtoy in the form of a cnc router for my garage, its not massive (allows 600*900 workpieces) but will allow bartop creation OR maybe even full standing units if the design is in 2 pieces I guess. So my first project for it is a micro bartop based on a raspberry pi solution (so no unfortunately wont run hyperspin), vid included of my first shot at the program. My design allows for a fully assembled outer skin which then allows for the inner sections to slot in containing pi and vid driver board...W…

Here's a video of my latest obsession! It is a highly customized Mortal Kombat cabinet with Hyperspin as the frontend. Unfortunately, I did not take any photos or video during construction, so I created this little video instead... The bits showing off the frontend have been sped up to help make the video shorter. But it will give you an idea of the various themes I created. Cheers, and thanks to everyone on this forum for all the tutorials! Without you I would have gone insane trying to sort out how to accomplish this...

This may have been asked before but i need some clarity on what can and can't be done in windows 7 x64 I have spent the last few weeks in my spare time trying to get lower resolutions in windows 7,i am using a hantarex arcade monitor that seems to work on 640x480 800x600 1024x768 if i use interlaced mode in these resolutions and when i used windows xp with CRT_Emudriver i was also able to use a set of predefined low resolutions without interlaced mode. Now that i am using windows 7 i have tried the list below to create custom low resolutions with the correct timings but after i reboot windows and use the arcade monitor as the primary display these low resolutions do no…
