Hi Guys, I'm using USB speakers in my bartop build and I've been searching high and low for a USB Volume Knob that would have the ability to change the computer's volume settings. I finally found something that looks like it will work, and will also be easily mountable: https://learn.adafruit.com/trinket-usb-volume-knob/ Has anyone seen/used this? Looks pretty sweet! Owen

Hello Hyperspinners, I always wanted to acquire a candy cab. Last September I found one in very bad condition and I decided to restore-pimp it. The work is still in progress but here are some pics after 6 months of work. Hope you enjoy! pickup day

I've finally reached a point in my cabinet build where I am happy to show what I have made to the community! A big shoutout goes to the popular "Weecade" and Floriske.nl's (from ArcadeControls) cabinet designs. After reading Ernest Cline's Ready Player One, I was inspired to build a mame cabinet. Programming Hyperspin took the brunt of the time, but I want to focus on the physical build here. There are easily over 300 hours poured into this project (about 6 weeks of learning Hyperspin and another 6 weeks of woodworking on weekends or when I was able to get home a bit early from work). Mainly, this is because I have never made a single thing out of wood before. My fi…

I am planning on doing a bartop but am looking for ideas on what I should use in way of computer, case, monitor, etc I would like to do a single player bartop and am looking to put in an Intel processor so I can run most emulators on it. I am wondering about what size of led monitor to use in it and would it be mounted landscape or portrait. I am trying to find a good case (myopenpc case or other) that would work good for a bartop I appreciate any feedback and specs people are using in their bartops Thanks

Just got my parts in recently. Been working on it about 2 months now. I wanted to go with a Blue/Red Street Fighter Theme. Did all the artwork and had a local print guy do the vinyls for a fair price. Got everything i need except the buttons that i'm trading out these blue ones with. Waiting on my Alpha vs Beta 2 Player Deluxe Kit from ParadiseArcadeShop to come in. Its basically a 2 Player "LEDBlinky" sort of setup w/ LED Balltops. I already have a hard drive i've been setting up on the side with Future Pinball (hence the knob) and Hyperspin. Let me know what you think and any suggestions would be great. Thanks guys.

Greetings, I picked up this Need for Speed Underground cab early this year, and was thinking about converting it to a hyperspin driving cab. It seems to have alot of good things going for it: 27" High Res Monitor Immersion Force Feedback Wheel 6 Speed Shifter 5.1 Surround Sound Unfortunately, this unit's cabling is very proprietary and I just can't see any way around stripping alot of the wiring and going to an I-PAC or similar board configuration for use with PC / Hyperspin. This unit currently uses a nytric I/O Usb board which looks proprietary. Any advice on the best approach to starting this project would definitely be appreciated. Thanks Again!

If you were buying a computer today to setup Hyperspin, what would you purchase? I'm in Canada, so I'm looking to purchase one in the Toronto area, from either Tiger Direct, Canada Computers, Bestbuy, or online, etc. Barbones or tower only, don't even really need a case. Hardrive space to hold Hyperspin, music, videos, and I'll be running XBMC and looking into using it as a jukebox too. My budget is around $400 to $500. Thanks

DONT BUY THESE....yet anyways. Alert I just purchased 2 of these bad boys through a reputable EBAY seller. They came in and worked really really well for 1 day. On day 1 the trigger broke inside one of the guns. I opened up the gun to see what was going on and found that the piece of the trigger that presses the button inside the gun had broken and was no longer able to push the button that actuates the trigger press in MAME. On day 2 the same thing happened to gun number 2. I contacted the seller and the Manufacturer has taken responsibility for the defect and supposedly are shipping me 2 new guns with the defect permanently fixed..... we shall see. 3 week wai…

These are some cheap ideas with some existing materials. I'm not master but I would love your ideas dudes. Thanks! I want to create an arcade setup. Similar to this icade mods using my Netbook. Problem 1, the monitor I have maybe a little huge for the Standard Icade or the icade core pictured here Here is my monitor: 17" Acer x171 Problem 2, the Icade control runs via Bluetooth which I'm not sure I can get to work with windows or hyperspin. Thoughts homies? ------------------------- Frankenstein Alternative idea Any cheap sturdy Arcade sticks with a flip top opening that I could easily drop a netbook into. That already has PC compatibility The ult…

Hi Guys, When it comes to powering bartop arcades, is there any better (smaller) option than this: http://www.amazon.com/Smart-Energy-Saving-Autoswitching-Technology/dp/B000P1QJXQ Has more outlets than I'm going to need and it's pretty large... but as I understand it, using this will allow me to power everything on/off via the computer (master). Also, to anyone that's used one, where do you end up putting it in your bartop? Between the mobo/control panel? Or attached to the side? Thanks, Owen

Hi Guys, Hoping for your feedback on my hardware below. This is for a bartop (Retrocade clone) and I put the hardware together based on tons of research on the forums. I don't plan to overclock right away and I'll add cooling once I see how this runs as is. My goal is to run as much as possible: MOBO: ASRock Z87E-ITX CPU: Intel I5-4670K GPU: ASUS GTX660-DC2O-2GD5 RAM: Ripjaws X Series 8GB (1600) SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD PSU: SeaSonic G Series SSR-550RM 550W OS: Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium Any problems here? Thanks so much!!

Just wanted to show what I have done so far. Its far from complete but Its coming along. Most of the problems I have had with the software I have figured out by reading through a ton of forums and finding the answer. I think its an old nba jam cabinet as the original control panel had a nba logo and it was 4 players. I did decide to go with the betabrite prism for the marquee. I know a lot of people are going with lcd's but I personally like the look of the betabrite. I still have to install the monitor permanently and I also have a 2nd 7inch monitor I am going to build in to it to use with hyperspin helper to show the controls. This is an older pic but I have perman…

Hi Guys, Here's my dumb question of the day. I've got this button: http://www.arcadeworlduk.com/products/High-Profile-30mm-Arcade-Button.html I've got RED Female Quick Disconnects .187 - 50 Pack - Fully Insulated (QDF-RED187) from GroovyGameGear. The Quick Disconnects fit perfectly on the Microswitch, but they're too small to fit on the 5V LED "tabs". What size Quick Disconnect do I need for the LED? (A link would be super appreciated) Thanks so much! Owen

New Project Mini Neo Geo MVS while i'm waiting for the weather to get better in the UK (fed up of working in cold garages in freezing temperatures on my pinball table) i thought i would follow the crowd, as led by BBB and RidicRick, with their cool MVS builds. I'm thinking along the lines of a smaller desktop unit running a 15" screen and an external AES joystick for the two player action when required. i'm looking along similar lines to this design obviously it will be a bit bigger, as this was built using a 5" PSOne screen, but I'm sure you will get the general idea. so, on with the build.. kit ready to deploy.. the buttons hadn't turned up at this point, so …

Hi All, i am new to the forum and would like say hello. I’m a secret geek at heart who was one of those kids who loved the arcades. My first computer was the commodore 16,64,Amiga,Pentium 90, snes, n64 etc. I currently own an iMac, Custom built gaming PC, xboxone, ps3, xbox360 and a hidden fully boxed megadrive 16bit. I accidentally came across some youtube videos of bar-top arcade machines and I am now on a mission to build my own. I cannot wait to play games like Robocop, street fighter, final fight etc on a retro arcade machine and get my son involved. Starting to gather a list and research so any tips, advice etc would be much appreciated.

Hi All. My cab has really nice looking light up joysticks, but they are "clicky". Are there smooth joysticks out there? If so, what do people recommend. Thanks in advance!!

Finally completed my MAME cab! Just waiting on a few "upgrades" to come in the mail(a few buttons, and new t-molding). Its running MAME .144, SNES, Dreamcast, NES, Sega Master sys, Sega Genesis, Gameboy ADV. w/ Hyperspin FE of course! This was a project from the start to do as cheaply as possible, but still have some what "quality" build. Also tried to reuse/recycle anything i couls to save $$$ and time. TV was free from craigslist, cab was 90$ craigslist, PC was recycled parts, as were some buttons. The art was found in the bargin bin at Game on Graphixs, I dont think i paid over $40 shipped for it. The speakers have a semi transparent woofer that glow from the marquee …

Hey guys, New poster with a lot of ideas and not much clue how to execute yet Firstly I just wanted to thank the Hyperspin community at large for the ridiculous amount of resources that are available here. I suspect I've saved hundreds of hours through things like Hypersync and examples of work here. Secondly, I wanted to find out how people have tackled the challenge of a multi system standup arcade cabinet from a physical design point of view. I'm hesitant to try to serve too many goals with one box - I've got about 1sqm of floorspace to play with for my retro gaming and it's tempting to try to make an arcade machine that also emulates every console ever made and h…

Trying to figure out the maximum monitor width/height in inches or millimeters, so I can figure out what monitor I can buy. If possible, I'd like to get a 20" monitor so I can get true 4:3, instead of a 5:4 19". Thanks

I'm really stumped. I'm failing to find ANY 19" LCD monitor that is truly 4:3. All the 19" monitors I'm finding, though labeled 4:3 in the description, have a resolution of 1280 x 1024, which is 5:4... Can someone link me to a truly 4:3 19" LCD monitor?

I need to decide on some buttons for my bartop. I am thinking of going with the CLASSX buttons from GGG for my player buttons. I am looking for some nice buttons for player 1, 2, coin, escape, pause, etc that I can add a graphic insert into and will compliment the CLASSX buttons. I appreciate any feedback

I decided to build a cabinet, but I had very little budget for tools and parts. So I took my jig saw, and some spare parts from a desk hutch. Old 17" monitor, cheap ebay controls/encoder (buttons are branded happ, but joysticks are 'happ competition style'), Pentium G3220 + ASRock mobo + 4GB of RAM, old HD, USB powered amplifier (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C4N410G/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) powering drivers recycled from $1 garage sale HK computer speakers, Vesa mount (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003O1UYHG/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), and had to buy a melamine shelf as the base. Someday I might do a nice cabinet, but …
