Hey Guys, So I have finally started to work on the cabinet and decided to create a thread for it. So far I have gutted it, installed a drawer underneath for the key board and mouse, door behind the cabinet, rigged up the marquee and light. I used L-channel molding at home depot to hold the marquee in place and painted it black. I had another thread explaining my control panel overlay but will show it here as well. Started out with an x-arcade tankstick about 6 months ago because I am a noob, but as the months progressed and I began to learn and love this hobby, I decided I needed a bit more and wanted to test out my abilities, but since I already printed a custom overlay…

Trying to clear some questions up about my ultimate IO that just arrived. How do you run the solid colour LED lights? I have 2x 9 led harnesses from ultimarc but they give no diagram on how to run them. In the picture you can see 4 rows, +rgb. Mine are not color changing, they are solid colour. They came with clips where you can have 4 wires in each to connect to the board but they are labelled in 3's across each row. I'm very very confused....I want to use led kinky after they are setup which I know how to use.... This confuses me for some reason. I wish ultimarc send their stuff like this with large maps on how to run wire. Would make things a lot easier

About two months ago I set to build an arvade cabinet after debating about it for a while. One day on my day off I decided to go through with it and set to build a cab. After long hours of building and getting the siftware to work correctly I am to this point. Any critic is well welcomed that way I expand on my next project. HI all, I am not sure what section of the site this kind of topic should go but this subforum seemed appropriate. I am looking to build a new PC in a Micro ATX case to install Hyperspin into, and be able to play at least up to PS2 era emulation. I am not super familiar with what processor and video card / memory might be needed regarding this as far as specs go, and am looking for some recommendations. Of course I'd love to build to the latest and greatest specs, but hoping to limit the build to specs that would be acceptable to emulate all the systems I am hoping to run. Things I already have are: a Micro ATX case, a high powered quiet 700W power supply, all my ROMS …

Hello Guys, I have a Compaq 6200 pro. I'm trying to put an arcade button to my PC. I have the front I/O and power switch assembly right in front of me and I want to know what two wires I have to split? I can't seem to find the diagram for what color wires each one stands for? Can anyone help? I don't want to cut the wrong wires. I have an enclosed some pics. Thank you.

Hi guys, I am a very hands on, mechanicaly/electronically inclined person, but when it comes to design/artsey type stuff I am left in the dust. lol. I pretty much have the software side of Hyperspin done. Emulators working, ROM sets completed for the most part, consoles setup, media and artwork pretty much done, etc. Just some little tweaks here and there to finish up. Thanks to everyone who helped me out!!! Very much appreciated!! Now I want to build my joystick control board. Probably a little backword since I am not sure what I am doing for the rest of the machine. Probably custom build a stand with a wall mounted 40+ screen and marquee above it. …

Hi guys! I recently finished my newest project and thought I would share it. If I can figure out how to upload photos here I will do that too. As with most MAME projects, the majority of the time is in the software. We had a difficult time getting both guns to work in MAME, and after pulling our hair out for a couple of days we found a thread mentioning that dual light gun support is broken in the newest version. We got an older version and BOOM. There is still some software work a head. I have not tried to tackle dual light guns in M2. I may not bother. I used the Ultimarc AimTrak guns. They had the best reviews in my research. They function very well.…

Currently I have a low profile HP PC running my build. The specs are I5-2500 @3.30ghz, 16gb ram and a Geforce GT610 1gig GPU. I'm running MAME, retroarch (NES, SNES, NES64, GENESIS) and Daphne emulators. Currently my PC will slow down when playing MetalSlug through Mame. I'm also trying to include some Taito Type X arcade games that you can find online. I have Street Fighter 2 "working" but it only plays at low res on a 20inch monitor. Of course I'd like to also get a larger monitor for this build and play it at full res. So all that being said I'm limited in video card choices with the low profile case. I'm wondering if the attached card would be sufficient with …

Hey Guys, I'm going to cut holes in my cabs control panel soon and I'm looking for some advice on the 2nd player control layout. I used a 6 button version of the Sega layout found at this link on slag coin (sega) for my Player 1 controls and copied it for player 2. I've done a mockup of the player 1 controls and have been happy with them. But I noticed there is a player 2 variant on slag coin that is tilted. Has anyone here used the Sega layout for their controls, does player 2 need to be tilted. Should they both be tilted? Anyone care to share their theories or thoughts on control panel layout? Here's my planned layout at the moment (green c…

Hello everyone, I am new here. I wanted to share my cabinet that i built but not sure how everyone will take it. I will start by saying this. I had a close death in my family and I was seriously depressed and was very ill. I was on you tube on day and started looking up things from my childhood and I remember a happy thought about arcades and so i proceeded to look into how far they became since I was young. I am almost 50 now and i started to build one but ran into a snag. I am so confused on how to make it work or get it finished cause their are so many front ends and setups i am so confused. I seen Hyper Spin and said this was amazing but I am so out of touch with te…

What's the general consensus on the best way to hold marquee (I.e. plexi and artwork) in place on a home built cab? I'm reaching the point in my build where the two pieces of wood for the marquee go in, and want to make sure I'm prepared for how I need it at the end! One other question - do marquees always sit vertically or is the classic precedence for them pointing downwards a bit?? Thanks

Hello Spinners & Pinners, It's been all good since the VPcabs debut on Shark Tank this past May. Brad Baker from VPcabs was hired by Universal Studios to create a stand-up Vertigo arcade 'Back to the Future' themed machine for Michael J. Fox's Parkinson Disease Foundation. I got to design the entire build with licensed artwork from the movie. What a great project to be part of! Ebay posted the auction, all the proceeds from this event went to the charity. It was showcased with the actors Fox, Christopher Llyod and Lea Thompson at the Chicago Wizard World convention this past summer. The design was so well received from Universal that a second matching virtua…

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum and I'm looking to build my first arcade cabinet. I already have hyperspin and emulation setup on my high end gaming rig but now I want the authentic arcade feel. I've decided to go with a bartop arcade as it seems like a good spot for a beginner like me to start. I don't have great carpentry skills so I thought a kit would be the way to go for myself. I have a few questions. 1) I was thinking of using this kit. https://gameroomsolutions.com/shop/bartop-arcade-kit-deluxe/%C2'> Has anyone had any experience with this kit? Is it any good? Is there a better/easier kit that I should be using? 2) Also I'm hoping to put …

So as you may have seen from some of my other posts I'm in the "figuring things out" stage . I'm narrowing my cab design and I think I'm getting a handle on how to go about building it out. But as I've read I want to start thinking graphics as this will I'm sure be a long and tedious task. I know I can pay for custom art and I'm sure it would be killer but I'm trying to keep costs down where ever I can! I'm no stranger to photoshop and Illustrator and I'm pretty confident I can come up with something. However I don't have the skills to draw things and produce them digitally from scratch. So I'm confused as where one would get quality free graphics to begin working wi…

I've been playing with hyperspin for the last 6 months or so and have the software well on it's way and configured for the majority of the systems that I want to play. I would love to get started in the near future on the building of the cabinet. I've done a ton of searching for designs and have found a few that could work with some modification. I'm kind of hung up actually getting a design from the computer to the actual wood to make my final cuts. I'm also not a designer and not proficient with autocad or inventor. I maybe able however to get someone who is to mock them up for me if that would be the best way to start. Thanks for any advice you can provide in a…
