Got a quick question for how all you guys have your video out set up. I have a zotac g-force 610 with hdmi running the video and audio out to the tv. The problem I have is when the hdmi is set as the video out it IMMENSELY slows everything down. Hyperspin slows to a crawl and mame won't even run. I have all the latest directx drivers and drivers for my video card. Been researching this for about a week now, and not really sure what to do about it. Most have said I need a stronger processor, but I'm currently using a quad core 2.4 g, It really has no problem running anything that I throw at it. Others say I need a better gpu. The one I have is only 1 gig. I'm le…

Hey guys I acquired a Pole Position Cockpit, the wiring is a mess and the pp2 pcb is shot, the monitor is fine, and the cabinet is good... What to do now??? I see 3 options 1. Try spending a bunch of time and money fixing the pp2 and wiring to have an original all working. (It will break again eventually though) 2. Throw a computer with hyperspin in it with an ultimarc vga 5000, and have computer based racing games available to me. 3. Use an original xbox with a huge list of racing games including pole position. (If I go this route, I need some help getting the steering, shift and gas /break pedals converted to xbox controls) What should I do??? Please someone with …

Hello all, lurker here. Forum has been a great help and I thought I would share a little progress on my arcade. Picked up a massive cabinet for 30 bucks at a thrift store. It's a 1978 Atari Drag Race machine that after 5 minutes with a dmm...works. Yes it's super rare but who cares it's lame lol. Plus the cabinet was in very rough shape so not exactly a good candidate for a restoration. So I started to mod it a little. Dual Momo force feedback wheels, fairly stout pc for an arcade (phenom quad core @ 3.0ghz, 16gb ram, twin gtx260's sli and 3tb storage) with some serious sound! I will use this as both a mame arcade, PC racing arcade and a jukebox. I have a dedicated 30a …

Hey Hyperspinners! I picked up a Centipede cab through a local ad. It has been gutted (i.e. no monitor, arcade board, or controls). Sideart, Marquee, and Bezel are intact and though it needs some work I plan to keep the original artwork the same and put a MAME machine inside. My question is what all do I need to interface with the computer? I would like to obviously have a trackball, one joystick (suggestions welcome for 8-way or what I should use) and 2-3 buttons. Do I use a Jpac to interface? Will that work with the trackball too or does it need it's own interface? The goal is to have it look like an authentic Centipede machine (save for a joystick) and play …

Hey guys, my first post here. I've started a bartop project & being a big fan of Neo Geo & SNK I wanted to make that the theme but I find the regular Neo Geo red cabinet art a little boring, so I decided to spice it up a bit. The artwork has been sent to the printers who will print direct to the PVC & then it will be CNC cut. Let me know what you think.

Hi guys, over the past 7 months ive been working on Hyperspin, as you know its a huge job. Im starting to come towards the end as things finally seem to be running near perfect. The thing I properly do differently to most is I include Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles but I think its worked out pretty good. Ive recently installed a marquee screen and got that up and running with hyperspin too, still needs some work done around the monitor itself and a big paint job etc but its playable for now. Xbox is turned on via IR commands and ftp to load games whilst PS3 is controlled via IR only Marquee will show Marquee image or else it will use wheel image, I haven't actually got marq…

Long story short, i am like alot of people working on my arcade cabinet. Currently i was able to pick up a quasicade pro cabinet and controller. (http://www.retroblast.com/reviews/quasicade_3.html) Everything is functional and not issues with it. The only i have is i am wanting to upgrade the controller a bit and add in a trackball. I have a Xarcade with trackball sitting in my closet currently (purchased it then was bestowed upon the quasicade arcade). Also have USB NES, USB SNES, USB N64, and planning on purchasing Lightguns. Any suggestions on upgrading the controller, or would it be better to just start a new ? Was thinking about rewiring everything ti an Ipac…

I've finally finished my first cabinet and wanted to share the results with everybody! Honestly, it's a bit intimidating considering all the amazing custom cabinets that people put up here, but I just gotta share. Seeing HyperSpin in action on YouTube was what inspired me to take the plunge in the first place, so I feel it only right to share the results with the community. During the three years I spent getting all the software perfect I had plenty of time to mull over the theme and concept for the cab. Ultimately, because I have zero carpentry skills and facilities I chose the sometimes maligned Ultimate Arcade II and added a few customizations to it. I decided that I d…

Update: 10-5-12 Adding light guns! Big thanks to Drakin for all of his help with this. After hours of trial and error, I sent these over to drakin for him to take a look. After a while we realized the aimtraks themselves were faulty. Andy from ultimarc was fantastic and got replacements to use pretty quick. After a few test runs on paint, below is the result. Let me know what you think! I decided simple was the best what to go. I didn't want something that would cover the artwork or the guns. If you are looking to get new guns for your arcade, contact Drakin or Myself. We would be glad to help. --------- Just about done with my build, and I am already making …

At the start of Jan me and my girl friend moved into a smaller flat so I put the arcade into storage. Well I have convinced her that we have space for it but before I bring it home I am doing a few small upgrades. Just thought I would share as I go along as this place has been quite lately. Before I started. I started off by wrapping the CP in carbon fiber wrap. New illuminated buttons and new joysticks. I had major issues with the joysticks and mounting them. The old joysticks used a M6 Coach Boltand the new ones wanted an M4. So I ordered M4 Black coach bolts but of course they fell through the CP as the hole was meant for an M6. So i had to drill out th…

Hi Guys, currently researching items for my build and struggling to find some good quality speakers. I would like the speakers to be hidden in the marquee like examples I have seen on the internet with a circular small holes for a vent. I am also going to use a small app in the build like others I have seen with the volume etc at the front of the bartop. - What is the max size I can use ? 14" seems to be the most common - Car speakers seem to be the favourite to use ? Any good Speakers that others have tested ? recommendations ? price ? where to buy ? Thanks in advance for your help Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

A while back I Converted a great looking centipede, that was not working (board or monitor, I serviced the monitor and it still didn't work, tube is out) it turned out very nice, I kept the controls the same, and did not hack up the panel. I used only games that use 1 button and the trackball at first. after a while I decided to venture into a few horizontal games, and use the start buttons and the fire button for base buttons in missile command, I think Ill be changing the CP to the multipede/missile command style so more buttons can be added and keep authenticity Im using Mine and Jeepguy81's Vert themes http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?10242-Cockta…

A friend of mine (and fellow lurker / new forum member Rayzor753) have decided to build a cabinet for our Hyperspin frontend Arcade. We're going for a retro gaming machine - so we decided to go with a 27" Sony Trinitron TV with S-video. We have a variety of video cards we're going to try (Our best is a 512MB ATI). We'll see how it works out. The cabinet we're doing is going to be based on the Mortal Kombat designs. So we bought some big sheets of 3/4" MDF and we got started. Peg board is going to be used for the back for venting. Starting cuts. One side done. Both sides clamped together and squared off on the factory cut side. Then both sides were s…

Hi all, I am in the (very) early stages of building a mame cabinet. I have been in contact with Maxime from Arcade from scratch about the HD Terminal cabinet (beautiful design). I am thinking that I would like to also eventually have a dedicated vertical cabinet. My question is does anyone know if there are any vertical orientated games that use a widescreen monitor by default? I am not sure if any of the vertical Type X games used widescreen. I can't think of any so I am guessing that I could possibly build a cabinet based around a standard (cheaper) 4:3 monitor mounted sideways. Cheers, J.

Hi guys, I recently bought two Aimtrak Light Guns from Ultimarc. I use Hyperspin on a 42" LED screen with my Xbox360 Controllers. Unfortunately, I don't have the needed distance between my screen and the guns to calibrate properly. I've thought of using a 19" TFT for the light gun games so I can achieve this distance (Andy told me it's got to be 1.5 times the width of the screen at least). Do you think it'd be possible to set MAME or other emu to run on the second display and then calibrate my guns there? I guess that the mouse functions go to the second display also. I'll do some tests but would appreciate any idea. Thanks a lot, Cheers

I just thought I would throw up a few pics of the cabinet I'm working on. I'll fill in some of the details later. I think I will have to get a bigger HHD 500Gigs filled up way to quickly. I was also thinking about running OS and Hyperspin on a SSD and using something like a 2 terabyte drive to store all roms on. Would this increase performance or is it a waist of time? Any input would be appreciated. PC Specs. Hi Guys, Just want to make sure I understand wiring the power button to my button/motherboard... I plan to use an HDE Power Switch connector (image attached) and a microswitch button. If I understand correctly, all I need to do is: 1. Cut off the end of the wire 2. Separate the red/black wires 3. Crimp the red / black wires 4. Connect black to microswitch ground 5. Connect the red to NO (normally open) on the microswitch 6. Connect the HDE Switch end to my mobo Do I need to splice the power switch ground into my control panel daisychain or is it grounded via my motherboard? Thanks!! Owen
