G'day all you arcade enthusiasts. I stated "The Technodrome Project" about a year ago now. Basically its a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themed cab. Nothing like the original TMNT cabs, That would be awesome! I really should have documented the progress a little better then what I have. This is my first attempt at building an arcade and I've had a heap of fun along the way. First the tech inside; Asus N53S Notebook Intel Core™ i7 2630QM Processor 8GB RAM 500GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M with 1GB DDR3 VRAM External 1TB HDD (Hyperspin, Games ect). Logitech X-530s sound system (Over kill). LG 32" LCD TV. 7 port USB hub. Combat King Joystick (2 Player…

Hi all. I completed this cab a little while back, but thought I might share my build pics. The cab is custom designed by me. I liked the kind of cabinet the Vewlix is, but didn't quite like the shape of it, or more precisely, the proportions. Using Alibre Design, I came up with this; As you will see later, I modified it a little as I built it. On to the construction! So there I marked out the shape. Then ripped it out with the jigsaw, did both sides and then used a copy bit in the router to get them the same. What you don't see is the mess up I made because the router bit can't do a sharp inside right angle. I ended up making three sides. Worked out good in …

I have used the Samsung 213T or 214T (21.5") in the few arcades I have built, but would like to know what other options there are out there. Not looking for a widescreen monitor, just the old school 4:3 ratio. My current cab has a lot of extra room, but the 32" widescreen monitors really don't give me any extra play field when you factor in vertical and the black bars on everything else... thanks.

I built this cabinet out of 3/4'' birch plywood and painted each piece of wood with a minimum of 3 coats oil primer 3 coats black oil low lustre paint. The "defender Arcade" marquee I bought off the internet but the other graphics I designed myself based off of pac-man and galaga game play. (May do side art later). I used a custom cut piece of tempered glass for my overlay which has pacman bezel/border decal applied on the inside of the glass. A cool feature I included with my cabinet is the entire coin door front panel is attached to the cabinet with industry quality velcro making access to the inside of the cabinet very easy. I installed a 6 port USB hub on the fro…

Well I have been reluctant to share my work on here since I find forums to be hyper critical but I figure its about time I show this thing off. I started this project last Feb. and am nearing completion. I wanted to build something unique but still very Japanese and also practical. It comes apart into two pieces at the base of the screen. I designed the thing in Adobe Illustrator working to scale. I'm still debating on what color to paint it. I really like the way it looks with white primer but a semi gloss epoxy paint coating would be nice as well. Let me know what you guys think. The latest thing I worked out was the backlit custom marquee at the top. Making th…

I have bought a 19inch lcd 4.3 lcd panel (not an arcade panel just standard lcd) and driver board from a seller in china. Now my panel have 4 2pin cables coming from back of it which I assume is for the backlight and the backlight inverter has four female 2 pin sockets on the board. Problem is I did not get instructions with it. There is a pink/black wires going to a two pin connector and white and grey wire going to another two pin connector. and these are grouped together so I have two male connectors pink and black and white and grey wire grouped together and two lots of these so total of 4 two pin connectors. it is a ccfl backlight so I am guessing there is 4 ccfl tub…

Hey all so just decided I will post up some pics of my bartop arcade that I'm currently building. This is my first real cabinet so I wasn't expecting it to be amazing but I'm happy with how it has gone so far. So just to clarify I really have never had any experience with building of this sort before hand, granted I've done a bit of wood work in my life but nothing major. Majority of the items I have been able to source for either quite cheap or completely free. The monitor, pc, speakers, neons, xbox controllers, were given for free as they were no longer needed. So far the build has cost me roughly $70 if that and with finishing it off I'm hoping to end it around the $10…

Just spent hours wiring up my pacled64 using 12 RGB led buttons. Turned it on and nothing, windows detects it but no lights. (i`ve connected the power also) I`m using RGB buttons from ultimarc. They have 4 wires on the connector, orange, red ,green, and blue. I`m presuming that the orange is to be wired to the + pin and the red green and blue to the LED channels. If anybody can remember wiring these could you please tell me if this is right, as the connector is not keyed so i could try it the other way but don`t want to blow anything. Big dissapointment

I'm finally taking the dive and building a MAME cabinet. That's when I stumbled upon Hyperspin front end and there's been no turning back. I've always been a big fan of Marvel's Silver Surfer so this cab will be an homage to Norrin and his "creator" Galactus along with Surfer's two nemesis' Thanos and Mephisto. Jan 18, 2014 - picked up Silver Strike arcade cabinet. Monitor was shot and was removed from the guy I bought it from. I'll reuse some of the buttons and the trackball. Plenty of control panel space and room inside but it is a beast to move around. Here's how it sat on Day 1. Two person setup planned with 6 buttons per person. Jan 25, 2014 - got the ca…

So this may have been mentioned* before but I can't find a thread about it? On the bottom part of machine at the front I want to cut out a shape so I can see the PC and the blue lights to glow through, Originally I had planned to cut the shape and just put a sheet of Perspex behind it.* But I remember seeing a table made from piece of tree and they has covered it lots of varnish and filled the knot holes with varnish (I presume) , so it made some sections see through. Has anyone done this on one of their projects and can anyone think of the best product to use? Many thanks Steve

Hey everyone, just wanted to share my current build ... a pedestal cabinet slow goings at the moment ... and its going to be a tight squeeze mounting the computer internals (not enough room for the full case) Even the bottom of the CP box had to have a hole cut out to fit the sub ... For styling .... I'm thinking something along these lines .... bright CP and white and black (with accents) More to come ...

Heya, I am updating my cab and have decided to buy a new sound setup so I can run XBMC jukebox in my game room. Does anyone have any thoughts on a solid system as well as tips to make the install easier? I have an old Tiger Woods cab that has 2 predrilled 5.25" speaker holes so I would prefer to use those. I would consider adding a subwoofer and would be curious on where you guys have placed it in your machines. Inside or out? Also, I am more concerned with sound quality than I am about price. I'll pay more if it is worth it. Thanks!

So what seems to be tradition now as the new year begins I'm starting my next arcade machine. To be honest it's kinda of a hybrid Arcade machine and Xbox 360. To date it's going to be my tallest cab I'm using these plans. The bottom half is going to be see through and I'm fitting this PC I'm gonna add extra case lights to get a nice blue glow The middle section I'm fitting my xbox 360 For the screen I'm fitting my 32 inch LCD It's going to be a 2 player cab but this time in fitting 7 buttons for fighting games that need the extra button The PC is a AMD phenom II 3.4 ghz With 4gb of DDR3 ram ( I'm planing to add more) And it's fitted with a nvidia …

Started during Christmas time I finally finished own Arcade Cabinet !! Installed Hyperspin and finally upgraded to HyperlaunchHQ. I've got MAME, Daphne, Sega Model 2, various Nintendo systems and good old Dreamcast and Future Pinball up and running. All I can say is WOW! Hyperspin is the best front-end app available and I am still configuration and playing around with all the possible settings. Together with LEDBlinky the cabinet looks awesome. Some emulators are a tough nut to crack but that is the fun of tweaking ;0). Next steps are additional art for my Amiga emulation and some additional side art for the cabinet.

Hi everyone, I'm Matt from Australia. Currently I have an old PC that I dont use anymore, what better way to re-use it than to build my own Arcade cabinet! I'm pretty good with wood work etc, and the wiring of the buttons etc wont be a problem, just had a few questions for those currently who have built their own machine using PC parts. Later on once the cabinet is built, I will more than likely have questions about the software etc, but I think most of that is covered in other threads on here. Just a couple of questions I have to start with, particularly regarding the hardware. The PC specs that I wish to use: 3.2ghz amd dual core 8gb ram nvidia 560gtx GPU 1gb 1tb…

Hi there, I am currently building an arcade cabinet, it is running off of a laptop which I am going to fix to the inside. My problem is that I don't want to have to open the cabinet to power on the laptop each time, I have looked throughout the forum however all the instructions have been unable to help me. I have a Toshiba Satellite L500 and once it was taken apart I found the terminal with the 4 connection points. After finding the points I took a small piece of wire and attached both ends to attempt to see what connection turned on the laptop, I'm not sure if that is what I was supposed to do, however there were 4 sets of connections that turned the laptop on. …
