I have completed my first arcade cabinet. It was a lot more work than I expected, but the help of info on this forum I was able to get it done. I have now changed my mind and I want to add a spinner to my main cabinet. I don't want to make a new control panel if I don't have to. But i'm not sure where I should mount the spinner I have coming in the mail (turbo twist 2). I think my only option may be installing it in the front of the panel just below the control panel and use it like a volume knob. Just not sure if anyone has used a spinner like this or if you guys have any other ideas. The main cabinet is 16" wide with a 17" lcd and the outboard player 2 control pa…

So I've been working on another Koolkade wanted to see what it would look like in a different style cab. It has a 26inch LCD screen. 2 Happ Happ Competition Joysticks 6 button layout. The 2 Black buttons are Concave for the old arcade feel and the rest are Competition Convex buttons. It has a 2 1/4 inch Track ball and only one button which is for the left click. NovaGemCDR™ Coin Drop Replacement Pushbuttons down by the coin mechs. It also has a Keywiz St 40. Over all I like the build I feel it looks very very good.

People dont usually respond to my post not sure what i post is not interesting to you all or if I have just ticked off the wrong people but please if some one would be willing to read this and point out the flaws in my idea please do. Thanks While surfing the net I located this page http://lifehacker.com/how-to-turn-your-raspberry-pi-into-a-retro-game-console-498561192 that explains how to use a $35.00 micro computer. To run all you consoles. I thought it was interesting for an all in one console. But can Hyperspin with all the movies and snaps and intros run under Linux??? The other question can a rasberry use a hard drive? I know I could use a standard computer and …

Well as a few of you here know for awhile now I have wanted to add a Popeye cabinet to my collection, but Nintendo cabs seem to be very few and far between where I am in Canada. So I decided to grab the blueprints and some wood and just go for it. Got the wood yesterday and traced out my cab and then re-measured to confirm the blueprints. After that used my tracing and measurements to ready the board and today did the first side. I well continue to add to the thread as I build it from start to Popeye lol. Day two all my pieces are now cut out, need to still do the slot for the t-molding. Once it starts to take abit of shape instead of just pieces of wood I'll post mor…

Ok I have some parts and getting ready to make a cocktail cab since I never have done one yet. Question is I well be using the awesome vertical hyperspin setup jeepguy made and only that's so nothing but old mame games. Do I 1. Use a cheap pentium haswell and intergraded graphics (not sure if there is still issues with videos in hyperspin with this option tho or 2. Go with a AMD APU on a budget here so say a A6-5600k so this would be abit more in cost but has cpu/gpu on the chip which is best for a good cocktail only build ? BTW I never never built AMD pc, always intel many of them but I am sure its the same thing right ? Cheers

Yes - Fallout is not an arcade game, but I wanted to set up a cabinet from the Fallout universe anyway. Consider this a tribute. The cabinet is an old NBA Jams game that an arcade owner had converted over to a bowling game that no longer worked. It was a bit beat up (and cheap) and I thought that the Fallout theme would also make up for any nicks, dents or flaws. http://imgur.com/a/CQwe1#0 Graphics came from dozens of web sources and were mashed together to cover up for low resolution issues. The controls are your basic X-Arcade Tankstick with some home-grown graphics overlaid. This was my first build and I didn't have the ability or tools to build my own controls …

Finally started my build. Thank you to sandman7793, sparkywallnut, polemicist. Without your help I would still be in the planning stage. Big ups! I have a few questions that I am hoping to get some help on? 1. Where should I buy buttons 2. Where should I buy trackball 3. What type of wires should I get 4. Ipac or ipac-2? 5. Anything else i need to get for the CP I went with 3/4 plywood since it was cheaper.

guys im nearly on completion of my pedestal cab...I am looking into a full pc,the problem is though I want to run most games at full potential...this includes the PS2 emulator (which I know can need a lot of power behind it)...I will hopefully have Dreamcast/gamecube/mame (chd)/ps2/......and PC for (street fighter/mk9 etc) So the pc should be kinda future proof...can you recommend or give me and idea if your own PC specs that run these emulators/games at their near full potential....for example I heard that most emulators run better from a high CPU than a high GPU...is that correct? What about Ram etc? I was looking at the following: i5 2600k or i5 4670k 8gb 1600 ram …

Hi! I am dying to build my get my own arcade machine, but pretty much born with two left hands (give me something to code instead of nail. or screw. man, that sounds dirty) so I'm thinking of buying an old cabinet to host my setup, and just make a new control panel for it. Thing is, I want a more slim cabinet, depth wise. My basement would look awfully strange with something coming out so far from the wall, with our current computer setup etc in there. Question is, would I be able to convert a cabinet into a slim variant somehow? Me with my limited knowledge envision going wild with a saw and just cut it, but I would imagine that would mess quite much with stability and…

So I designed and built an arcade cabinet, the case construction is mainly ultralight m.d.f. with plywood, in a dado construction with support cleats, No exposed fasteners, and No sharp corners. It houses a 32" sony flatscreen tube television off craigslist, and 4 players functionality. The treatment for the paintjob on the wood was first a penetrating wood epoxy, (mdf is like a sponge, this makes it tough and not soft), then assembly, then bondo for the curved back and front, high build primer, sealer, silver base, colored base, pearlcoat, clearcoat. After it was all cleared the first time I was not happy so I added some graphics to it. Trie…

I'm all set with design and dimensions. Which should I use and why MDF or plywood. 1. They are about the same price 2. Plywood is a bit lighter and will last longer 3. Plywood is more durable. Why use MDF over plywood?

Hi Guys! I Thought Id share this with you all, even though there are several Punch-Out!! Restores going on at the moment... mine's a little different I Love the punch-out arcade, but I also have a need to have several games in one cabinet because of space in my house, I do have 1 room dedicated to Arcade games and video games, but until I am in the position to build an Arcade in my backyard I have to get creative... So, I like most of you want the original pure gameplay of the monitor and pcb, and to keep the cabinet original as possible with out hacking the stuff to bits... but I, like some of you, have a desire to sample whatever is out there and use mame to accompli…

I finished it already but wanted to show it here too. It's a Weecade cabinet with Hyperspin frontend and I call it the Hyperwee It all started as an abandoned project. A guy I know who sell these as flat packs got one back from a customer who wanted a refund. The cabinet was already assembled, painted and had a monitor and speakers installed. It had minor scratch marks here and there but I got it for a very fair price. This is how it looked like when I got it: It came with a control panel plexiglass, the previous owner had cut himself, but NONE of the holes lined up?!? If you put in the buttons for player 1, nothing else fit. I decided to just add vinyl and call it…

Hey guys! Just wanted to share my MAME cabinet building experience. I've been wanting to build this thing for the last 15 years. Took me almost two years to finish it, but I finally did it! Here's a pic of the finished project: And I made a public Facebook album of the entire construction process: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150644688044693.406271.506194692&type=1&l=2f3d9e6575 Enjoy!

Hi Guys, I finally got around to installing my track ball leds. I am using Ultimarc's "U-Trak RGB LED Illumination Kit". I have it controlled with a Pac64Led. It works fine but the board gets SUPER hot in just a matter of minutes. It got hot enough that you could feel it through the ball, which is how I noticed it and then unhooked it. Anyone else experiencing anything like this? The power and ground are both coming from the Pac64 board.

So I came across a picture of a cool looking Mspacman table top and I thought hey we can make that. We made a little coroplast mock-up of what we thought the dimensions should be and how tall we would like it. After making the mock-up we felt it was a little too tall and went home for the weekend. That Sunday I got a file sent to me for printing. When I opened the file up is what exactly what we were building!! Now, what are the chances of that happening? Anyone? Anyway, I came to find out that the photoshop rendering I was looking at was eventually turned into the real thing. The link is here. http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=128666.0 So, I take …

Hi, I'm thinking of building a bartop cabinet and I got few questions. 1. Is there a good guide of building one from scratch? 2. Is there a site with that offers different plans(I'm probably looking for a 2 players Japanese set-up, 19 inch LCD)? 3. Cost wise, ordering a kit or buying a mdf board etc.? Many thanks

So what do you guys think is better or any info that helps me decide. Both look awesome and ive herd nothing but good things about both.

I'm finally about to start building my cabinet, but I can't seem to decide on something... I've noticed some official arcade cabs and some of YOUR cabs tilt the control panel at a slight angle. I have also seen otherwise. In your opinion, which is the best to go with?
