It has been done for a while now but never showed anyone...this vid was made more for my buds on Facebook they have been pestering to see it in action but being that this frontend inspired me to do this it's only right to post it here as well. 2 parts, 1'rst is the Hardware, 2'nd is the Frontend/Games. I also show what I did with some console ports on the cab with ahk. Hope you guys like. It's not a flashy cab but I love it and play it all the time nonetheless. Part 1: Part 2: Thanks goes to Bill for making one kick ass piece of software, Circo for making the emumovies, Djvj & Brolly for answering alot of questions on ahk and for working on Hyperlaunch, Ra…

Hi everyone! I'm new to this site and I'm starting my first cabinet build. I have a long way to go and I can't wait to get it up and running. To start, I have an old Zaxxon cabinet that was donated by a friend. It's rough but I think it will do for this build. I'm reading and learning as much as I can right now, and I'm always looking for advice. I'm amazed at the quality of work that people are doing here. It's humbling, but I don't expect my cabinet to be anything as great as I've seen on here.

Hey guys! I finally finished my arcade and am having a kickback party tomorrow for its unveiling. I wanted to post here both to possibly give anyone looking to start an arcade some ideas, and also to thank this community as a whole. I have been a quiet lurker for a while now but I have learned an insane amount from so many of you, and I appreciate all of the work you guys do here. I'm by no means an expert on any of this so this is more of an amateur job, but I am so stoked to have it finished. There are still a few emulators I have been unable to get working, some bugs that need fixing, and some art/videos I still need to get as the HyperSync databases are updated, …

UNDER CONSTRUCTION Well; here it is so far, my very first build! Since first discovering HyperSpin about a year ago this moment feels like a sort of coming of age. For those of you I haven't had the opportunity to become acquainted with; I'm a 27 year old stay-at-home dad from Las Vegas. Before I met the wife I worked freelance doing Flash based web design, 'teaching' computer animated art to local schools, and restoring old pictures in Photoshop. I'm also more or less able to build a computer and set everything up. I consider myself pretty adept in these respective areas; albeit with an outdated skill set. Everything else is pretty much all new to me. I …

I thought it would be cool to build a 2 player control panel that could be used for PS3 or PC. So I thought I would give it a go. It has 8 buttons per player mainly for PS3 titles. The Xin Mo encoders work great for this application. And the size is 24X11 1/2 so it is very easy to move.

My first attempt of my dual monitor terminator salvatuion-like cab ended in disaster.. so a few months ago I started a mini sit down version. Here is what I built and since I have some time, hopefully I will finish it completely unlike many of my other projects. The vertical monitor will be a 22" 16:10 and the horizontal screen is a 24" 16:10. So far. Here is the groove for the plexi-glass that covers the vertical monitor and it will be held in place by the T-molding. This was the much bigger first one that ended in disaster. Building one similar soon.

Hi Im new here but am just about to start my first bartop build. The software side is just about done so i need to get started on the actual build. I plan on building a bartop that will play just about anything. To enable this im going to overclock a haswell I5 4570k and also use a gtx 650ti gfx card. using an matx mobo Im going to try and fit this in a retrocade size bartop so i know it will be a tight squeeze. So with these high specs in mind im currently worrying about how to get air in and out of the bartop. In a normal pc case you have the air flow with the front fan sucking cool air in straight onto the cpu cooler and gfx cooler and then warm air is pumped out…

Hello guys! I started to build my cabinet since February, but just now i have the guts to show how it is becoming First of all i built the control panel, and after that i had the courage to start build something bigger ( I never built anything with wood). I am using a old PC (going to buy a i7 soon), a ATI HD4870, Sony TV (KV-21FS140) and a transcoder to hook all up. Right now i am finishing the build of front kickplate, the marquee holder, installing the motor that will rotate the screen and thinking about art of the marquee and sides. Check my progress: Here its my finished Control panel with RGBs Buttons, a LEDpac64 and 2 Magstik joysticks. My Sony TV decased …

So it's been 3 months on and off since I started working on my cabinet and thought I would share a few pictures to see if I can solicit any constructive criticism. It is a custom job and I am using a old 2 on 2 Open Ice box for concept. I have a LCD monitor for a marquee and a new 29" CRT from Happs. I salvaged the coin ops from 2 on 2 and i'm creating a custom credit management system to allow me to control when my daughter can play and for how long. The art is being done by a friend of mine who is a comic artist for Marvel. I have also created Neon on the sides which I will cut out holes to recess them inside the cabinet. I have a projector which I will install to allo…

Hey folks, I'm starting a new project and developing my first MAME arcade machine. The cabinet I've selected to work with is a Williams NBA Jam cab. I do have some questions for folks who have developed their own MAME machines. What is the best choice for a video card? I want to run games like Pac-man to more power hungry games such as Gauntlet Legends, or Mortal Kombat and modern games. I'm debating between building my own PC to power this cab.

Hey Guys! Well, I've decided to build a hyperspin cabinet, going to call it Video Man as this was my nickname growing up in the 80's from my friends and family. Going for a 4 player cab. All buttons LED light, 2 fighting sticks, 2 rotary joysticks, trackball, spinner, dedicated 4 way joystick, flight/Tron Stick and Ultimarc AimTrack gun which is on its way! Going to be a beast. Trying to figure out whether to use a widescreen monitor or a 32" CRT TV? Actual arcade monitor is not something I want to invest in, leaning more towards a 32 or 37" widescreen but I figured I'd ask here. Wanted to get some opinions on the matter. I will be using the machine mostly for Mam…

Hey there Started a new cabinet last weekend. I was so inspired by gbeef's Outrun project, that I decided to build my own. I didn't have any plans to go off of, and very little information about what the dimensions of the thing are, so I traced out a picture of gbeef's, then used so mathematics to get a rough idea of the rest. Here is how far I got last weekend... Hoping to finish up the base construction today, and start working on the top section. I just picked up a 32" LCD screen last night since Best Buy had one I liked on sale. More to follow... **Running Total of Costs - 6/15/2013** 2.5x 4x8 Sheets of 3/4" cabinet grade plywood - $90 (Home Depot, have a…

Just started doing some work this weekend on an idea I've had for a couple of months. I don't have room for a full arcade and I have two MK fight sticks, so I did the next best thing. Half top bartop! This will be fitted with a 29" TV.

Hi Guys, I'm about to pull the trigger on a kit to build my first bartop. I'm noticing that the holes drilled for the Retrocade are different sizes. Could someone please post links to the buttons -- including power -- and joysticks used, as well as the holes required? It looks like the joystick holes are smaller, and I'd imagine the power button is a smaller hole?

Hi Guys, I'm trying to wrap my head around this bartop build and questions keep popping up. Sincerely appreciate all the great help I've received so far. New question... Using the standard bartop kits available, is it possible to fit an IPAC2 + LEDBlinky + LEDWhiz parts? Can they be mounted on the sides, or do they need to be on the "bottom" for any reason?

Hi Guys, I'm starting down the research rabbit hole towards building my first HyperSpin bartop. While I don't plan to do much with Dolphin up front, I want to make sure the system is capable. Would you recommend building it with an i3-3220? What kind of video card? (necessary??) And would it stay cool enough in a bartop build, using only a CPU fan or aftermarket cooler? Thanks so much, Owen

In these pics they are not fully completed, but they actually are and I will get more video and pics of them soon. So a few good friends of mine finally bit the bullet and wanted to build some hyperspin cabs. So here are the pics. I will post more pics of what they looked like before when I get them. First cab, the pedestal cab. My buddy Jason completely designed this himself and I did the artwork and printing. We used my new matte finish textured laminate which looks amazing! The pedestal is a 2 player with LED buttons consisting of two LEDWIZ boards running all buttons and LED's. The monitor (not shown in pictures yet) is a 70" LED that mounts on the wall. The pedesta…

Hey all, long time creepy lurker here. Just finished my first ever arcade cab with the help of my fantastic father, without whom I would still be buying tools and trying to figure out how not to be terrible at woodworking. I learned quite a bit through the process and probably feel confident enough to try this on my own when I start the (from what I understand inevitable) second project. What I'm saying is I went into this project a daughter and came out a son. Haha, not really - I was totally always a son. Used 3/4" cabinet grade birch plywood for the body, went with a stained wood/black outline on most parts, all varnished for a very shiny, wet-looking finish. I'm hap…

Hi guys, I come from the XBMC community and have built my own HTPC -- after reading countless threads and full guides about selecting HTPC parts -- but I'm really nervous about building my own bartop arcade. I've found a few video tutorials on the "shell" portion of the bartop, but I can't find many guides on selecting the hardware -- both computer hardware and buttons/I Pac etc. I know only enough to know that I'm not quite ready, and am hoping there are dome guides you wonderful people might link me to to get me started. Id really appreciate it Owen Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2

Who has installed one of the LG monitors as a marquee? Did you decase it? How did you mount it?

Hello fellow 'Spinners' first off I want to thank everyone on this site for all of their hardwork, dedication and all-out awesomeness at creating, maintaining, and resurrecting this 'retro' scene. I first discovered Hyperspin about 8 months ago when I began work on my first MAME cabinet and have never looked back! Though I haven't formally introduced myself nor posted on these forums before I have read alot of the posts and gotten so much help from everyone here that I feel like I know some of you already. Today I come to you with a question (or several maybe). I recently bought an old 'Grand Champion' standup driving cabinet (Taito, 1981) everything works great a…
