Hello HyperSpin members, For starters I'd like to thank all the members of this great community. Without such passion and dedication to preserving the classics none of this would have been remotely possible! I salute you all!! Now I figured I'd share a special project a friend and I have been working on for well over a year now as we near final completion. This project, like all great and noble quests grew from a simple and humble beginning. It was pretty much discussed late one night around a table over food and drink - lots of food and drink - and sketched roughly on a paper napkin. "Wouldn't it be cool to build a full size virtual pinball table?" "Why not a…

Now that I have the HyperSpin Pc up and running i decided to start a cabinet project. I purchased an original MK cabinet, the inside was redone and there is a jamma harness in there. The original 25inch monitor is still working and looks nice. My question is, can I use the original Mortal Kombat monitor and hook it up the the hyperspin PC. I think this is converter I might need to use to do it but I'm not sure. I believe what I have is an RGB CGA monitor, the RGB wires go to the jamma harness. Thanks for the help. Here is the cabinet.

Hi everyone. I thought I would quickly introduce myself and my arcade before documenting my virtual pinball build. My name is Jim. I am a family man with 6 kids and a beautiful wife of 18 years.... My sweet wife let me build a star wars death star arcade a few years ago. I've had a great time filling it full of classics. Have a look...

How would you go about making Custom Artwork for your CP. I have a machine already but its very plain. It is painted black and very boring to look at. I want to "JAZZ" it up a bit. I'm not very good with photoshop but i know enough to tumble about and get an ok/good end result. But i have no idea how you would line up the holes on the CP to match the artworks CP design. The only thing i can think of is too take a photo of the CP and work over the top of it so it acts like a template. Would this work or is their an easier way?

Where is everyone buying their 4:3 monitors in the US? I would like a 19" 4:3 monitor I see some online at newegg and tigerdirect. I want to be able to go and look at it so I can make sure that the monitor will return to its last state when powered off and the monitor was on. Thanks

Been done for a few weeks now, but once I kept testing Hyperspin more and more on my main PC, I realized how freaking cool some of the themes are that I originally didn't have on my older 145 ROM set, so I started all over with the newer set of ROMS and I just get more and more impressed with HyperSpin the more I tinker with it, and all the work that people have put into it, I tip my hat to all involved Here is my cabinet, It was a craigslist find for 80$, Aliens Game, I gutted it, and MAME'd it.

Well, I've finally gotten my cabinet to a point where I can show it off. It started off as a PGA Tour Golf Challenge Edition I purchased for $100 in great condition! Now it's turned into my custom "MVS". I've always loved the MVS logo and it does an apt job in describing the cabinet so that's what I've called it. NeoGeo purists will hate it I know Front: Marquee: Marquee designed in PhotoShop and printed by GameOnGrafix.com I must say FANTASTIC print job by those guys, pics do not do it justice Buttons: Happ Competition joyticks + Spectralite buttons from GroovyGameGear.com for the colors I decided to go with a NeoGeo/Xbox controller scheme. Unfortunate…

I am getting back on to the construction side of my cabinet project http://bubbob.retro.me.uk/ after many months of playing and configuring. My next step is to get some artwork on my CP which isn't going to be straight forward as I have a removable/modular CP so it needs to be thought through and then protect it with some acrylic or lexan. A quick search on the internet brings up loads of results for UK online suppliers of acrylic sheets, I was just wondering if anyone would recommend any and their products or are they all very similar? Also I am using 3/4" mdf on my CP and would ideally like the thinnest layer of acrylic I can get away with. I have seen other posts su…

So the only thing I still have maters is how to lock the control panel in place on Bartops The original Retrocade had a gap in base so you could get a screwdriver in but I didn't like that On the Princess Cade I screwed it from the bottom into side rails on the Control panel ...not pretty So how does everyone else do it? I don't want to leave a gap and I don't want to drill through the artwork

Hey. Just planning out my first 2 player panel for my first cab. It's going to be running off an ipac2 and I was just trying to make sure I don't miss out any essential controls. Up to now I have.. Mame controls 6 buttons x2 Joystick x2 1/2 player start 1/2 coin Pause Esc Enter/select Should I look to set up keys with shift etc for stuff like Tab in Mame. Or genres/fave games in Hyperspin or am I over complicating it? What do you guys do?

Kind of jumping the gun on this, but I just placed the order for the side art, marquee and CPO and figured I'd share. Long way from being done, but the idea for this project was to build from scratch a one player Mortal Kombat II bartop cab that looks like a full-sized stand up with the bottom chopped off. Most bartops are really wide, but I wanted one that matched an original MKII cab, so I used an original MK cab to get the dimensions right. If you remove the bottom section (below the CP), an old-school MK cab would be 39" tall, so I scaled it down to 52.5% vertically and 54% horizontally to accommodate a 15" 4:3 monitor. For the side art, I had to heavily modify th…

Hi guys and nice to meet you! Just started designing and building my first (and most possibly only) a full-scale arcade cabinet a few weeks ago. My GF currently designs the cabinet (full-scale) in Autocad based on koenigs plans, with a few tweaks here and there. Now since I'm a noobie in DIY arcade cabinets, I would like to share my project plan, so maybe it can help others. I have split the project in 5 categories: 1. PC Hardware and peripherals (Intel Q9400 Quad-Core / 4GB RAM / SSD 128GB / Nvidia 210) <- Done (from previous PC parts) 2. Software choice and setup (HyperSpin, Roms, Configurations) <- Done 3. Cabinet electronics (sound, controllers, 19 inch 4…

I'm building a custom control panel out of 3/4" MDF. What joysticks do you guys use when you bottom mount and don't use a router? I looked at a couple from Happ but they would be short once you take 3/4" off to account for the bottom mount. I don't have access to a router so that isn't an option. I'm looking for a bat top with 4/8 way switching if possible. Thanks all!

Hello everyone! I'm looking to get a wood grain finished 3 sided cab kit. Bascially exactly what Arcade Depot sells, but it appears that thier site has been down for sometime, according to thier home page. Do you guys know where I might be able to find something similar, in the $300-$400 range? NorthCoast has a nice unit, but it only comes in black...

I am building a hyper-spin cabinet with no monitor, just an hdmi out to mount to any tv that i choose. One thing i worry about is my base doesnt move much its fairly stead but, when we play an intense game of street fighter the base does wobble a bit. Now, what i am wondering is if my harddrive is mounted in the base do you guys think there will be any damage or data loss? ive considered going with a 2.5 harddrive because they are meant to be moved around alot more ( laptop style). or does any one know of any way to help reduce the chance of damage?

Hello All, I am looking to build a cocktail style cabinet. Just 2 players (joystick on each end...not along the side). My question is regarding joysticks. Is there a list or spreadsheet (or a way of searching MAME) to find which roms use a 4 way joystick and which ones use 8 way? I currently have an upright acrade that uses the Mag-Stick from Ultimarc...that switches between 4/8. This works fine, but i would like to use just a 4-way joystick if possible...but not sure how many games i will sacrifice if i choose that option. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

I picked up a dedicated VS cab awhile back and finally decided to start the restore. Except I really didnt want to keep the VS wiring and have only 2-4 games at a time with a switcher. So I decided this cab will look completely restored to original, except it will have Hyperspin with ONLY the entire NES and VS Nintendo library. It started as a shitbox cabinet. Someone didn't take very good care of it and hacked the thing up, taking off the overhang onthe front and a ton of other problems with it. It is a dedicated VS cabinet so to make this perfect again I had to put in replacement pieces. I haven't worked with wood much in my life but I figured this cant be to complica…

Hi everyone, I have finally setup Hyperspin completely and flawlessly. I am in the process of buying all of the cabinet parts and control panel parts as well. I am making a 4 player arcade. My question is about the I-pac from ultimarc. I am curious if this supports track ball and spinner? I have read around a bit but have not seen anything on that. If not, what would be the best route to go as far as the control panel wiring conversion? Also, as far as the 3rd and 4th player go; would a 4 way joystick suffice? I cannot remember if the 4 player games even have use of the 8 way setup. Thanks, Rodney
