A few months ago I purchased a pinball machine "Phoenix" with the intent of converting it into a virtual pin. It was sold to me as a working machine but in reality it needed a solenoid driver board and 7 solenoids in the play field area. I am repairing this machine back to a working state then selling. I deviated for my original plan and preserved a quote working machine. Yesterday I picked up two 48 in by 96 in by 3/4 in thick good quality plywood. Took measurement from my existing pinball machine, cut the wood and assembled it (pictures coming). Damm it would have been a lot cheaper to take the existing machine and gut it. All the hardware parts alone will cost ex…

Hi, I'm new to hyperspin, I was going to buy a arcade machine a 400 in 1 game but they are old, and I see these hyperspin have loads of old and new games, the graphics look cleaner and the cabinet, an I see people making them. I'd have mine in my shop, question is if I made one can I make it so people pay per play like a arcade coin mech, are there any tutorials on here?

Just like the Nudging Options Thread, I wanted to make a Plunger Options thread. I'm at work so I wont be able to get all the pictures and information, but when I get home I can clean this up. Button: Easiest method is just a button. It will work just like using "Enter" on the keyboard. Someone with one, does it work by the longer you hold the button the further the plunger goes (until full pull) or just a full pull shot? Nanotech: The Mot-Ion adapter is a USB adapter that allows Do It Yourself Pinball enthusiasts to build their own cabinet using real pinball controls providing analog inputs for nudging and bumping. This kit includes everything needed to connect a…

Hello, I recently upgraded my hard drive and decided to re-install HP, VP, and FP from scratch. Everything works except this one thing, and after a number of google searches, I can't find where anyone else has had this issue (but I seem to recall it coming up when FP-LedWiz was new). I have FP working with Ledwiz - as long as I don't launch the table from Hyperpin. VP via hyperpin has no issue. I have polled over the fplaunch.ahk script, and I don't see anything that would disable the ledwiz. I tried removing all ledwiz stuff from hyperpin/fplaunch, updated settings.ini,etc.. with no luck. I did see where one post suggested FutureDMD might be an issue, but I …

I am a long time lurker here and wanting to start a build but I have a dilemma. I will keep it short. I have an old PC that I need to upgrade for my personal workstation (used infrequently): Intel Core 2 Duo, old graphics card (raedon 4500 or something), 4 GB RAM (max is 8), Win 7 - 64bit. Even after all the possible upgrades to this (SSD, Graphics Card, RAM), I don't think it will perform well enough for digital pinball machine. Let me know if I am wrong, but pretty sure it just won't cut it. So my idea is to build a PC to perform as both the digital pinball machine and the workstation. Basically running 5 monitors, 3 for the pin and 2 for the workstation, the pi…

Hi After months of deliberation I have decided to give it a go and have found a donor cabinet to start my build (picture attached) I have a i7 32gb pc with an ATI R9 graphics card and two screens. A 42" hd tv for the play field and a 32" for the back glass. My first questions are:- Can I use the 32" vertically and use it for the marquee and for the dmd display? Some of the screen would be covered up as it will go into the base of the cabinet. I take it that the software would allow me to position it. Also, the R9 is a great graphics card. Can I run both displays from it but displaying different bits? What is the best operating system to boot up a…

Hi all, I've been playing with the idea of building a Cab recently and found the forum last week. This is my first post After a lot of reading I've decided to go ahead with my project!! I've seen what many of you have done and I want to congratulate you and also thank you for all the inspiration I have 2 main problems I need to deal with right now: a) location: I live in Argentina and here there is not the huge market of parts you can find in the UK or europe. Shipping to here is expensive and there are a lot of packages that get stolen (!). That is why my best bet is to buy a broken old pinball, which will have already the steel parts, many buttons, etc. …

:thrasher:OK, time to start my 10 year project. lol Thx to all the studs on here with their great builds, I hope mine can turn out just as nice. This is my first hobby project and first time being involved in threads and forums. I was scared to start something with no manual but I figured with so much support on here how can I go wrong. A lot of the parts list is what I want, not what I have. I will update this first page as I go if anything changes and as parts come in slowly. I have a short leash with the wife cause we have a two year old and another one on the way due in June. My goal is to have it done by the time they can reach the flippers ha ha. So here we go: Cab…

Hey everybody, When I was a little kid the best part of the holidays were the arcades and especially the pinballs. For a long time they were out of my head until one day I saw a youtube video of a Vpin cabinet someone built. Next thing I know I was infected with the VPin virus and I had to have (read : build) one. After lurking around for about 3 months on the Hyperspin, Arcade Controls and VPforum sites, one day I saw an ad on a second hand site: “For sale: empty Williams Fun Fest cabinet, back box, plunger, Lockbar, glass etc. included.” It was destiny. So 2 days later I had a pretty beat-up empty pinball machine in my house. On the bottom of the cab and on the i…

Hello guys. I built a widenody cab, and use the standard Siemens contactors usually used. 24 Volts. They sound fine, as long my cab is open. But as soon as I put the glas on, and close all doors, the flipper contacors sound and feel very weak I did this mod with the steel washer in the contactors, but still not loud enough. Is there a way to increase the sound, and the dorce feedback of the contactors? Or is there a better way, instead of these Siemens ones? Thanks, HP

Hello, I've just started a new cabinet build from an original Gorgar (will introduce the build properly later) and want to pick up a Mini-PAC. Can someone help me choose the proper connectors to purchase? I have the Ultimate Cab-Builder's Button Kit (http://virtuapin.net...&products_id=38) and have been told that it uses 0.250" and 0.187" terminals. Which Mini-Pac connectors should I select to ensure that I will have everything needed? (http://www.ultimarc....ct.php?xProd=29) Options: 6.3mm (1/4in) connectors / 4.8mm connectors / 4.8-2.8 mm connectors. Thank you in advance!

Hi folks! This is my 1st post here. My name is Fabio, I'm from Brazil, and decided to start the (hard) road on building my 1st cab. I'm just seeking for an advice here. At 1st I got really excited with BAM Head Tracking and Stereo 3D features. So excited that I went ahead and purchased the only TV I found that had good passive 3D requirements, which was a 49" 4K LG TV. The reason behind picking up a 4K TV for 3D is explained here: http://www.cnet.com/news/4k-tvs-with-passive-3d-finally-a-good-use-for-all-those-pixels/ Basically, even using 1080p resolution, the lines separations in 3D are be divided by half (because it has more pixels), making it possible to still s…

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4858#sp Has anyone heard of or used one of these before? Do you think it would run Hyperspin well? I would add 8GB of RAM and a 250GB SSD hard drive. I have a unique setup and I need small PC to fit in my cab. Specs: Model: GB-BXi5H-4200 CPU: i5 4200U 1.6GHz/2.6GHz RAM: 8GB Graphics: Intel HD 4400 HD: 250GB SSD

Came back after being away for a couple of years, trying to see if it is worth it to upgrade to Direct Output framework from the original Ledwiz setup. Could someone comment if they see an improvement with stuttering, etc after this upgrade. If this is not the right place, please direct me to the correct forum. Thank you.

1. Looking for advice/recommendations from other Mini-Pin Builders. Ordered the IR Tracking Kit from RandR and wanted to know if I will have any issues setting it up on my smaller table? Table is currently 3' deep, 30" tall in front, 37" tall to bottom of backglass area. 2. I started with HyperPin, but read that lots of people were using PinballX, so I installed it and have it up and running nicely. Any reason to go back to HyperPin over PinballX? I noticed right away that I am not having any focus issues with PinballX... 3. One of the tables I acquired had a modded FuturePinball.exe, which seemed to help with some of the more arcade style pinball machines, but also …

Hi all, anyone have an opinion of which type of display would be best? LED, LCD or big pc monitors. Also, how can I avoid having to use a remote control on modern screens? I'd much rather an auto power-on feature!! I want to go with a 3 screen setup but will probably start with a two screen until I get the hang of the build process!! Phil

Like many I'm in the "thinkin'" stage. I seem to be obsessing about old backglasses being full. Alas 4:3 screens are no more and putting a huge screen sideways is just well expensive. I was wondering with all these pocket and pico projectors around, if anyone ran across one that would project say a 28" size from a short throw of a few inches? I do see there are very short throw projectors so if not today maybe sometime soon there will be one. You could project from the rear of the backbox for the screen. I did find one build where the playfield bottom had projected sides, same idea but has to of course be a lot smaller!

Will the new Mac Minis with Iris graphics capable of running VP smoothly or is a dedicated graphics card required? I want to build a wall mounted config and need to keep the box size to a minimum.

So dmd is nice but I like a lot of old school tables. One could imagine using a single 4:3 or commercial square screen fully occupying the backglass. Then for an old table you get non squashed display and scores. Then for dmd games you could have dmd at the bottom I've not seen anything like this has anyone done it? I realize square monitors are rare and maybe none near that size. Sorry about title.... DMD! Autocorrect.

Hello Pinners & Spinners, Wow what a year for custom & themed artwork designs for our community members. Thanks so much for the steady stream of graphic design projects from our members. It's been a wonderful gamut of ideas and design layouts. Up first is Pin City, my all time favorite so far for VPcabs. The client needed multiple machines of Brad Baker's standard body with red, white & blue powder coated hardware options. Having a one of a kind 3D pinball inspired city design. I had to create a fun commercial free design to showcase some high end pinball machines for a game room distribution company out of St. Louis. These machines ended up in their many s…
