Hi everyone. I've finally started my first build and wondering if anyone has ever seen or made a control box that is hinged (folds out). I want something that is hidden but folds down when in use. I'm pretty sure the way to go is a V shape box that rotates at the bottom of the V, similar to some shoe cabinets. Any help or photos would be appreciated if you have any. Thanks, TC

Hi guys... We finally started shipping the bartop arcades after a ton of great input from the hyperspin community! I put together a video showing how to assemble and wanted to give back as it as it will answer a lot of the questions a noob would have that is interested in building an arcade machine. In other words, the overview applies to the arcade building process, not just our kits. Anyways please provide feedback so I can improve in the future. Yes, I miss spelled fundamentals in the subject header and do not know how to fix it Video Breakdown: 0:14 - Walk through of what you get in the kit 2:52 - Prepping the sides, top, and speakers 4:10 - Prepp…

After a year of construction, its finally ready for some serious gaming! With the aid of the brilliant Howler PCB i was able to produce a 4 player system with 46 programmable LED buttons. 5.1 surround sound. The joysticks and buttons are placed in a copper sheet coated in commercial grade epoxy to keep the shiny in. This steampunk themed arcade can seat 8 people comfortably around the 1.3m toughened glass table top. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wine-Barrel-Arcade-Machine/1689448344610133?fref=ts

Hey guys! [For those of you in the art department here, I promise I'll be back helping you guys when my life gets less busy. At the moment, I'm working a full time job and trying to open a business here in Indianapolis. It's a really exciting time for me, but sadly, some things in my life had to give. Hyperspin being one of them. It's cool, we've got wheel making machines like JayC and Damned just to name a couple being monsters on content at the moment. Keep up the amazing work guys! It's dudes like you that makes this all possible!] Anyway, I'm opening an arcade bar here in Indianapolis called Tappers and I thought I'd ask the Hyperspin experts out there for som…

This is my next build with a little bigger led screen 42"!!! Im a big believer in planning so I use Sketchup which is a free and powerful program!! If you've never tried it give it a whirl!! If anyone is interested I can share the files so you can have exact measurements and you can view each part in a 360 degree environment!! I tried to load the files but I don't have permission for that!!!!

I made a couple of various decals for my cab and I just wanted to see if there's any intrest in them. I work as a graphic designer at a print shop so I design and print these badboys by myself. I just wanted to check if there's any interest in them? I am currently building a webshop for them. I can take preorders right now and you will receive a discount. A full set is priced at 99.00$USD. Prices are including shipping without tracking. The material: The decals are printed on on solvent printer/plotter, the material is high quality vinyl, "JAC 8110" to be precise. It's high gloss and easy to apply, especially if you wet apply it. The ink is water proff. The decals …

I'm attempting to build a gamebox. I want to make a portable system that I can just plug into any tv. Since I have no woodworking tools and lacking the skills I had a friend help construct a box and drill some holes. I'm at the stage of trying to fit everything in the box and wire up the controls. I still don't have any good ideas for the control panel overlay. This seems to be the tough of part of my build since once again I'm lacking the skills with Photoshop or illustrator. If anyone has any sources where I could find some art to use it would be appreciated.

Hi.. About a year ago i decided to build myself an arcade cabinet. I have been a bit fan of emulators and retro gaming for a while now and had built a couple of small scale PC's for MAME emulation etc, but decided to enter the big leagues and go for a fully cabinet build. I started by planning out exactly what i was going to do: Sit-down cab style Standard Stick and Button controls Coin slots Large Widescreen LCD display (for modern PC game support). Only arcade emulators (including console games would never have that true arcade feel). Using a number of free sources online i decided to make a Vewlix clone as it seemed to tick all the right boxes, and looked l…

To all, Just very curious to find out...there are items I'd love to purchase from groovygamegear.com , but it seems that the site has not been updated in over a year. Also, I sent a direct message to the contacts for the site, asking if the webstore is still active...but I never received any reply. Has anyone purchased from groovygamegear.com in the recent past, maybe the last few months, etc? Just want to know if the store is still active before I try to make a purchase. Thanks in advance, Craig

I'm fairly certain that in the distant past, I saw a write up in this forum on modifying standand, non-LED buttons to illuminate them. Specifically, I recall that the user was cutting the top off of black buttons and replacing the cut out plastic with plexiglass discs and gluing everything back together. And then, of course, adding LEDs as well. Does anybody know what I'm talking about our have a link to this write up? I can't find it anywhere. Thanks!

Its been awhile since I posted up on here but I have been busy building mini versions of Japanese arcade machines. Particularly the Sega Astro City and MVS-U4. I designed everything on the computer paying close attention to scale and proportions. The cabs are mainly mdf with a bit of apoxie sculpt and shaping. Inside both units is a micro atx system. The screens are 4:3 15" HP LCDs. 1024x768 resolution. The Astro has a scanline generator in it. Note I'm still finishing up the marquee for the Astro. Check out my Facebook page for more projects and info. https://www.facebook.com/multigamesystem **UPDATED SHOT of completed units** 8/25/2015

Hi Guys, I am finishing up a bartop kit. I really tried to include everything I have learned/wanted over the last 10 years or so building these things. We just got the first prototype put together yesterday and I think we are really close. Wanted to hit some expertise here to give me some input on design changes or additional offerings that would make the kit more complete. My Main Goals: • No painting and/or easy to apply graphics • No power tools needed • Easy to assemble via cam lock system • Accommodate a 22" widescreen monitor • Includes all plexiglass pre-cut • Includes photoshop files so it is easy to design your own graphics • pocketed so unde…

So I am using a trackball encoder that works like a mouse for my CP - the problem is that the buttons are actually mouseclicks, 1, 2 and 3. I found a program called x mouse button control that works like a champ in notepad - when I try to use it in hyperspin and subsequently emulators (zsnes - super scope, Fuzion - lethal enforcers) it works about 1 out of every 100 presses.... is there any possible way for me to map clicks to keys as successfully as xpadder does to joystick buttons?

A very close friend of mine is getting married soon so for the past few months I have been working on a wedding / bachelors gift for him. I finally completed it today so I decided I would share some pictures of how it came out. Whats inside: Motherboard - ECS Thin Mini-ITX H81H3 Processor - Pentium G3420 2x 3.2ghz Memory - Single crucial 4gb 1600 Hard drive - 128gb SSD For controllers I went with 2 wireless 360 controllers. The install wasn't too bad. I installed some #6 bolts from the bottom and propped up the motherboard using nylon washers and nuts. The only real issue was the power and reset buttons were just barely in the way so it had to be ins…

Taking a break from working on my bartop I forgot I had this for my iPad and never use it. Decided to mod it up a bit and make a mini-itx fit along with a 10.1" screen. Havent really taken pics along the way as I just work on it here and there but its not too bad for just having spare parts laying around after I upgraded my HTPC. Specs: iCade 10.1" HDMI LCD with controller board Asus Z97I-plus mini itx Intel Pentium G3258 unlocked processor 8 GB ram soon to be 16GB 256 M550 SSD 1 TB 2.5" HDD 450 W SFX power supply. Took far longer than I expected and I'm easily 60+ hours invested. Over 110 games are represented. The rules were: -Every game/series shown must have had an actual arcade machine at some point. -Use interesting art instead of game art whenever possible. -No CG art -All games must be iconic, classics or be important to me in some way. Obviously this is a low quality file. The actual image is 73" tall almost 40" wide, 300 DPI and over a gig in size. Time to have it printed! So what do you think?
