Hi All, This is my first bartop arcade build. I have to say that I'm a complete novice at this kind of thing and I have never worked with wood before starting this project. Here's a pic of a test build of the unit itself (this is Tipper27's design). Marking out mount points: Test assembly in progress: The unit fully assembled (the speaker housing's placement in the cab is off, this will be rectified) Taking a hack saw to an old PC case so that I can use it's external ports in the unit (external USB, audio etc) and also to use it as a reference point for cutting the back door of the unit slightly: Taking that same hack saw to a set of USB powered speakers…

I am working towards building my first Bartop Cabinet and I am not sure of the size and style of monitor to use. I have seen 19" monitors used but I was thinking that for a 2 player setup i would go with a 22" 16 x 9. My question is will this work with most emulators or am I going to have a lot of black areas on the screen? Also do most people leave the screens in the surround they came in or strip them out so they just have the screen and the electronic for the video and power?

So I got a dilemma building my project. What I'm doing is just building a box that will house my computer and want to have 2 wireless boxes with the arcade controls on top with a flip up lid in each for access to the wireless controllers inside. My problem that's keeping me up at night is finding a way to power the ipac in the controller boxes to be wireless. Just wanted to see if anybody knew a solution for making the ipac wireless. If not, I guess they will just have to be wired. Thanks for your time and help guys!

Hi, I appeal to the creator of arcade, how thick mm I need to take to a plexiglass plate 600x490mm, so that the plate remains straight and does not twist. (which is set to the screen, then a bezel if you prefer) 4mm is good ? Thanks in advance. =)

I'm making something a little different in the Wreck it Ralph series and converting my Sega Outrunners 2 player cab into the Sugar Rush Cab, am currently playing with the artwork as there aren't any hires pics of the cab that i can find, my photoshop skills aren't the best but i'm going to give it a go. I have 2 logitech G27 wheels for the cab and i'm looking at monitor sizes, hoping for 27" 3D screens but will have to see how big I can fit in there. I'll post updates as I progress.

Hey Everyone! If I care about performance what are the best joysticks out there? How about buttons? I have some of both in my pre-configured cabinet but want to see if I'm missing out. Thanks!

I pick up this NeoGeo cabinet I bought last week on Monday. I am not sure what board it has in it but it currently is running King of fighters 2000. I plan on getting the 160-in-1 multicart for it once I know for sure what board it has. Does anyone know what board (single slot, dual slot, etc..) I need for the multicart to work? I did some photoshop work to figure out what I want the new graphics to look like. Here is what I am thinking, I may change it.. not sure yet. Plus after I make the template for this cabinet I will be able to offer others exact fit graphics for this cabinet too.

Just wanted to take a minute, and say a huge thank you, to this whole hyperspin 'world'. Over this past winter, I've spent my spare time reading the forums, and planning my own cabinet setup. I've now finished. It #$%^&^% rocks. Just thought I'd say a general thanks to anyone, and everyone willing to take a minute to read this........I got my hands on an old 'Jungle King' cab, and stripped the guts. I wanted a used, roughed up cab, like i grew up with (grew up...lol..well that's debatable). I dropped in an x-arcade (ipac the next one). A 22" lcd, and slapped together an amdx3 with a big @$# hard drive. A friend of mine helped wire led's into the coin slots etc, and I …

Hi guys, Its been a few years since i've built a cabinet. This time though i decided to build a small bartop cabinet for my nephew's 2nd birthday present as he just loves to play on my cabinet when he comes around. I wanted to do this on a budget so most of it was built on parts i had lying around. Decided to build this one though with a raspberry pi so no hyperspin on this cabinet. All in all the project ran over a week including 3d modeling, cutting wood, painting, wiring, programming. Parts List 15" Samsung LCD (had lying around) Raspberry Pi model b (had lying around) 32gb SD card (had lying around) Old PC speakers (had lying around) Buttons and…

I've got a marquee print in the post, but I still don't have the lighting unit to put behind it. Really not sure what I should be looking to buy, do I need to get something cabinet specific or can I just pick up something from your average DIY shop. The Marquee itself is 540mm

I haven't long started my project and I am currently just posting all of the background information. I have built a very basic prototype control panel out of scrap bits of wood so I will post about that with pictures on the blog. Hopefully soon I will actually get to building the cabinet then the real fun will begin. I will bump this thread every now and then when I update the blog. So here is the blog: http://bubbob.retro.me.uk/

Hi, I am new to the site and am in need of rebuilding an arcade cabinet that will have hyperspin in it. I purchased the cabinet with hyperspin already configured. It needs work. Eventually I will replace the 17" monitor with a larger 20" monitor as well as a more powerful computer to run hyperspin with all emulators, N64 PSX Daphne, roms etc (but that i will do after i work on the cabinet) . I'm also looking to patch holes for the buttons to relocate them. i'm going to need to sandblast and put primer on the wood. Here are pics of the cabinet I need to work on. If any of you can give me the best advice possible to fix up the cabinet, including what primer and wood p…

Here is a look at my Christmas gift to myself. It is a widebody arcade, we used a 42 inch LED, and a quad panel. It also has PacDrive's for the LED buttons. I have a airbrush artist who is taking the silver spinner dial and putting Captain America's shield onto it. I will have it back next week and will post the pictures of the shield.

I got the idea of a versus tabletop that is portable a while ago. The idea stemmed from me wanting a 'Coleco head-to-head basketball handheld' from back in day. This tabletop I want to take anywhere and play for several hours without the need of a power cord plugged into the wall. I guess I could get a older, cheaper laptop and do this and run most mame and 16 bit systems, but the only problem with that is, I wouldn't be able to run my favorite FE which is hyperspin. Hyperspin requires a more powerful-more expensive laptop, and I don't want to break down my new expensive notebook to do that. Plus the run time from the battery wouldn't be like I want, which is several hour…

Started on a new sit down vertical cab yesterday and my goal is to get it done in about 3 to 4 days; spending about 5-6 hours a day after work. So it's nothing really fancy. The cab is designed to be in 3 parts; the base, the top, and the control panel. So on day one I started with the control panel.. DAY ONE: The cp. Simple stuff here. Zippy joysticks and Happ like buttons. 8-way 1 & 2 players and a single 4-way. These joysticks are great when using a wood panel. Nothing is better than glue and biscuits when connecting thin woods like MDF. Biscuit joiner not needed, just need the proper router bit. China made dual joypad has a total of 28 inputs, not bad for …
